Step 1) Select boards and make it seem like you hiked The Rockies high and low to find something rare.

Step 2) Use Expensive CNC to plane your boards.

Step 3) Stage sander to look like a job well done was accomplished solely by your hard work.

Step 4) Add a "rough shot" for effect.

Step 5) Throw a leftover Mountain Dew on that slab to show some true colors, like my ex when she didn't choose me over her computer career. Use this moment to explain how amazing this wood is without sounding pervish.

Step 6) Don't explain how but show a cool feature you added.

Step 7) Repeat.

Step 8) Angles, angles, angles! And wax. Always use wax. (Obligatory henggggg).

Step 9) Add some gizmo to make the desk better than 95% of the DIYs out there...let viewers' inadequacy sink in.

Step 10) [Insert Inspirational Quote] --- "Wireless Charging is the FUTURE!" - GEORGE WASHINGTON

Step 11) Show a finished piece and make it look like no effort at all (Internally scream at the frustrations along the way)

"You miss 100% of the desk builds you never start" -Bob Marley

+1 for not making a slab of epoxy.

All that work an no countersunk screws?

A lot of work.. but I don't like it

The attitude would have been so much more appreciated had the final desk actually been cool.

Your smugness irks me. Job well done, OP. v

How is the slight but constant heat from the charger going to affect the material over time?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As shiny as it looks, shoddy supports all around. Legs are going wobble themselves lose just from regular use

They're held with an extra spurt of Elmer's paper glue and hope. No worries.

Tsk... Another one spilled the beans about the use of CNC Machines ( /a/04LhFJN ) ?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

epically since the final product is not what is is planning

True, all true.

I love everything about this post. And your better off without her.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. A plank of wood makes wood workers insecure.

The only thing missing her is a final shot with your dick splayed across the top.

5 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 3

The only thing missing is the cat tax!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At the same time? Sounds risky.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chopped it off to sell for rent. Otherwise I would have been golden.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I generally find splaying my dick to be exceedingly painful and nearly irreversible. 1/7, would not recommend.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Surely you’d need multiple penises to actually splay. Perhaps the testicles and penis are splayed apart. Still painful I’m sure.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's okay, I miss her too

A woman shouldn’t have to choose between a man and a career? But hey, I don’t have the details what the heck do I know

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was about to say you can epoxy resin my balls but then I saw it was glass so I like it now.

You might want to get that crack in your concrete looked at

At least you have humility. It's an alright table, for 2nd year wood-shop class.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yep. I come to the interwebs for confidence boosts and sure-footed criticism. Works every time.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

it's okay, next time, lead with that thought, first

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey not everything I do is meant for everybody. It's totally your prerogative to dislike it, no hard feelings.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That ex comment though. Oof! You ok buddy?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was years ago... I'm fine (Internally screams and throat punches a stranger)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have issues with those screws penetrating that beautifully smooth piece of wood

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I put caps on to hide later, for some reason didn't get pics of that.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even caps though take away from the look, tops should pretty much always be attached from below

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless the customer asks differently ;)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is pretty ugly though.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You're a straight shooter. I hate you and love to simultaneously.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You had those beautiful natural shapes, and then you made them in to a square :(

Customers request. I build what puts bread on the table. Different strokes.

Step 12) Realize wireless charger is 2 inches left of where you want it.

**That's a new feature.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dammit HOW'D I SCREW THAT UP!? I measured THRICE

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

There's your problem. Saying goes: measure twice, not thrice.

Step 13) Realize you could've made the device adjustable, and added space for extras, when friends/family visit after COVID-19 dies down.

5 years ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 1

Step 14) Realize you have no extension cord for your wireless charger

5 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Step 15) Realize the tech will be obsolete in 2-5 years.

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

will it?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably. If they can figure out how to boost the signal and not cook people in the process, you could be sitting in the room charging >>

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Step 16) profit

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Step 17) realise you put the charger too deep and it only works sometimes
