It's nice of that man with the paint roller he put up the white picket fence of the American dream for all those people they get to live the American dream thanks to him
I want to complain about the title but it hardly matters anymore. The right won the battle to redefine "critical race theory". Still a really powerful painting.
My kids go to a DOD school... Because of the executive orders, they took down a poster of MLK jr. the kids had colored. No one is allowed to check out books while they figure out which ones are effectively banned. All the window paintings of women and minority scientists got erased, and they indefinitely postponed STEM day. This Nazi shit is real and affecting our next generation.
I think that's an oversimplification. It'd be more apt to show an artist painting over these figures in "white face" because they'll still trot out MLK as long as they don't have to recon with any of his actual ideals and just get to repeat "nonviolence" whenever black people seem threatening.
I think you can artistically represent the same thing in an infinite number of ways. Does telling a story that isn't the real story count for anything? If you erase all the meaning behind what Martin Luther King, Harriet Tubman, and Malcolm X did, I don't think it's unreasonable to say that you've erased them by erasing their real stories.
Man, I haven't heard CRT mentioned much recently. The right really gave up on attacking CRT, when they found that attacking DEI was much more effective. Probably has to do with CRT being more of an educational idea and concept, rather than DEI which is implemented as an actual program and was something that they could blame. God it's exhausting to keep up with their constant racism fence testing.
Why JUST try to isolate and attack just black people when you can instead isolate and attack the blacks, Jews, Hispanics, Natives, Asians, handicapped, autistics, diabetics, dyslexics, Muslims, the deaf, the blind, mutes, males, females, people with learning disabilities, people with cancer, wounded vets and amputees, the young, the old, the gays, single parents, orphans, and the poor all at once!
I meant more in terms of the jurassic park raptors, or people who swipe right on everyone in tinder, in hopes of just breaking through. But yeah.. it's definitely been a fully automatic shotgun lately.
Now it’s DEI, before that it was CRT, before that it was “social justice”, before that (I’m probably missing some) it was affirmative action, and on and on and on…
They just switch up the terminology once they've bled the previous dog whistle dry. Here's a super fun list of dog whistles: DEI CRT The Great Replacement Theory Woke 1619 Project (when spoken about by conservatives) Affirmative Action Multiculturalism Equity Systemic Racism Social Justice Intersectionality Reparations Globalism (often anti-Semitic)
Welfare and Welfare Queens Anchor baby Thug (disproportionately used to describe black individuals) Inner city (aka black and brown communities) Urban violence (implies crime is a black issue) Law and Order (to justify race-based policing) Blue Lives Matter Meritocracy (denying systemic inequality) Colorblindness ("I don’t see race", used to dismiss racism) Western Civilization (as a euphemism for white supremacy) Traditional Values
'You start out in 1954 by saying, “N****r, n****r....” By 1968 you can’t say “n****r” [...] So you say stuff like, forced busing, states’ rights, [...] Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is blacks get hurt worse than whites.… “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than “N****r, n****r.”' Lee Atwater, Republican Campaign Strategist
They even keep using the word "merit" as if they even understand what it means to be qualified for a position. Take anything trump says and read the transcript of his words, you will swear you're going insane. Now imagine a man who is liable for rape and convicted of 34 felons. Would you hire them for ANY job?

Even DEI isn't an actual program, it's just a conceptual framework that you can use to inform programs.
AlmostCertainlyNotPickles
Last time I brought it up, it got dismissed as being based in Marxist ideology, ending all conversation about it.
Owl2017
I mean it is based on Marxist ideology through its relation to critical theory from the Frankfurt school, but that's just a part of the conversation
