Edit: thanks everyone for the love. To confirm, I would have loved to adopt but there are no border collies in our shelters here.

Have you considered adopting?

Have fun with that bundle of energy they're so great. Teach them lotssss of tricks because boarder collies are one of the smartest doggo's.

Oh you are in for some crazy!

Hiya

Adopt, don't shop.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

You buy dogs in your country? In mine they are free:)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That's a marvelously cute pupper! Have fun getting to know each other!

5 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

Congrats on the pup but I don’t envy all the work you have to do to keep up with him/her. I hope you’re prepared.

Do you see having responsibilities as a negative? Weird...

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Congrats on the Border Collie, I picked up a Border Collie puppy last week.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Ello smol pupper

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hope you're experienced and have time. You basically have a small child with constant needs now, moreso than any other breed

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want to like this but not that you bought it.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

sounds too much like a purchase. it should have read "extended my family" I don't have a good feeling about this. where's the love? -1

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Point taken and you did live up to your username ??‍♂️??‍♂️ maybe I used the wrong language there, I of course extended my family

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So you CAN buy your friends

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BCs are such great dogs

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can someone mail me a puppy? 4 months now and still looking. Shelters are closed/empty.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Shelters might be fostering most dogs! Give them a call or send them an email (:

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I hope you are ready lol. Border collies are a handful! Wonderful but needy AF, and way too smart!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you check their post history they already have one or two of them

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't buy, adopt!

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 16

Remember to kill all dogs born. It’s the humane thing to do.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

All horses are shot

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Backyard breeding is the issue, not reputable breeders who's puppies never end up in a shelter anyways

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

I agree

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wrong. I see ALL KINDS of pure breeds roll into shelters. Huskies. Pugs. Poms. German Shepherds. Cattle dogs. Etc. You're ignorant.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Yep! 30% of the 3.5 million or so dogs that enter shelters each year are pure bred. ~1.5 million healthy pets euthanized each year.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Like i said: backyard. Breeders. Responsible breeders have a return policy and an extensive criteria adopters must meet

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not taking your word for that. Too many self proclaimed "responsible breeders" out there. And it's ALL adding to pet overpopulation, ffs.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you take the ASPCA's word for it? They encourage responsible breeding practices

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The keywords “self proclaimed“ are your clue to move on or at least increase your research. A snazzy website doesn’t make anyone reputable.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you kidding me? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. SMH

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

If it's the dumbest thing you ever heard, you should easily be able to come up with a counterargument. Even the ASPCA has a page dedicated

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, everything on the internet is true. ? Reputable breeders are also part of the overpopulation problem. Adopt, don't shop.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You still have to buy when you adopt... At least our local shelters have a fee.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

That's dumb. Should be illegal.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

What? It should be illegal for shelters to charge fees? How would they keep the lights on? Pay staff? Buy food?

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Needs state sponsoring. You can't make a business out of pet adoption, because it invites stealing dogs.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Based on what? You think shelters steal dogs? Also, do you think giving free dogs to anyone who walks up and wants one is a good idea?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fees are not the same as buying a dog. The adoption fees go towards the care of other dogs. Buying a dog is profit in the breeders wallet

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

And what's the little fellow's name ?

5 years ago | Likes 187 Dislikes 2

Conan, the Barbarian

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ling Ling III

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Looks like a Marigold or a Wilson to me!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

trogdor

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

The burninator!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes! Love this

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TROGDOR WAS A MAN.... wait maybe he was A DRAGON MAN

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually, he was just a DRAGON!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Her name is Tillie! She's border collie cross with Smithfield. And she's ADORABLE

5 years ago | Likes 199 Dislikes 1

that is a fantastic name for her!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She is, indeed : the picture you kindly posted does her justice ! And Tillie is a beautiful name !

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

I don’t know why, but that name made me make an audible noise. She’s such a Tillie!!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And how do I go about getting to meet her?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Verified. Adorable.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Border Collies need massive amounts of stimulation and exercise thought the day, please challenge and work that puppy.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Some are also lazy and prefer not doing any work. Just sleeping and playing once in a while.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

No.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The one I had growing up must have been the rare exception. She started as a farm dog but was dumped in a pound because she didn't work 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Adorable! I hope you love him and cherish him and you have a long happy life together. But since you bought this one, rescue the next one!

5 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 13

I always rescue... 6 dogs and counting (over 30 years)

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Sometimes there is good reason for buying. While I admire your sentiment, let’s leave @op to his own choices?

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

He did rescue. 'twas a matter of semantics & personal terminology choices

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I will. It was just a suggestion.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just rescued a dog. It's like he knows we saved him. The love is boundless! I highly recommend saving over buying! Just MYOB

5 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

Why mine your own business?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ach! Auto correct...*just my opinion though

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

mind*

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So long as it's from a reputable breeder, it doesn't hurt anyone. Backyard breeding is the one you should have issue with

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd rather know a pet's provenance.You don't get that from shelters,usually Reputable dealer all the way or 'rescue'from a friend's friend

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

our chihhuahua was part of a dog hoarder's collection when her son, nowing we wanted dog, got it for us. >

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

22 months & had been in a diaper since birth! :( When we took him outside to pee the 1st time, Gojira understood completely & was ecstatic!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I will always downvote buying dogs.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 12

Meh

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

This deserve more upvotes, not to be in the bad replies. Buying puppies is awful when shelters are full all around the globe

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not everyone is strong enough to own/walk pitt bulls even though they can be great dogs, and that is all my shelters have

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

There’s also rescues, your one local shelter isn’t the only option for adoption.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Been looking for 2+ months....

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i see your point, some people have real attachments to specific breeds. I havent seen many golden retrievers up for adoption.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

You’re not looking hard enough. There are tons of golden retriever rescues. I have two purebred boxers from shelters.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

not looking at all right now, but, I have a feeling what you find can vary by location. Rescues available in Colorado =\= rescues in NY

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Googled “Colorado golden retriever rescue” and found 4. I’m in rescue, trust me, you can find anything.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

im not in colorado im in NY lol i was just saying, also people sometimes tend to dismiss the slight risk. Friend of mine got 2 rescues, one

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clarification- 4 rescues with multiple dogs, not 4 dogs.
