Honestly while funny people underestimate the amount of physical coordination, endurance and fine skill disc golf takes. Look at the pro tour and tell me any of those guys and girls are using substances on the course, I seriously doubt they are.
I never considered it anything more than a hippie sport until I played with guys who were pro level. Massive drives that would take me 2 throws and anything within 50’ of the basket was guaranteed. Next level I tell ya.
?? No. I've delivered pizza 12 of the last 14 years. Stoners tip. It's the old, permanently drunk ones that don't tip. More, you get a whiff of weed cloud from Grandma at the retirement home these days.
It's all situational. There is no one type of customer. Waiters have different interactions than delivery people (I've done both). Things like time of day, what part of town, who you're working for. My first delivery gig was Flowers for Mother's Day, 1989. Drunks at home are not the same as drunks at bars. What generation are the drunks and stoners. You bring a pizza to a room of in their 20s stoners - you are a god. Make them collage stoners.... I have too many years doing this.
They totally do cuz this assumes smokers aren't drinkers... in my experience the older they are the more they litter. I used to til I noticed my old garbage and couldn't leave it.
Yeah this smacks of the "It's not the smokers leaving the cigarette butts all over the place, because they always put them in the bin" argument that somehow people like to believe...
can confirm. used to disc in the early 2010s, met bunches of super chill groups. all of those were folks in their teens and 20s. met one SUPER slow group who refused to let us play through. they were in their 30s/40s. had to call the cops once on some caricature of upper middle class boomers. they were upset we (group of 4) wouldnt let them (group of 7) play through. they tried to steal our bags, threw beer cans at us (some full, some not), made sexual threats at the one girl in our group...
when the one (1) cop did show up, the loudest one tried to fight the cop after threats to "sue his ass into oblivion" went ignored. by then we were starting the back 9, which starts at the chalet (ski park in the winter), so the park attendant kicked the group off the grounds. rest of the round was quiet after that, thankfully
I’ve found lot’s more people are ok littering in Australia than in NZ. NZ has a whole campaign against littering though, “Be a tidy Kiwi”, it makes a difference
I dare say a larger % of people smoke weed in NZ than straya. That’s just cultural assumption though. Also seem to be a lot more overweight people and cigarette smokers in Australia.
Not littering is definitely a learned/taught behavior. I was in Boy Scouts as a kid. Taught me to be tidy and respectful of the outdoors at all times, and to leave areas cleaner than how I found them.
Growing up in NZ I kinda felt like trying weed was like a “right of passage”. But more so with booze in Straya. I am 30 now though so it might’ve changed
Last military base I was on in Colorado had civilian housing over a mile away and you could smell the weed when the breeze blew from that way. I love that people don’t think the smell carries that far.
Totally sus! Dude isn’t even carrying his golf bag. No self respecting pro disc golfer goes without a bag full of discs. Also, no self respecting person carry’s a bag full of discs.
He'll be playing with the guys from our DnD group. I'm honestly glad to see him finding a hobby with friends to get out of his computer chair occasionally lol. He's an introvert but we have a great group of friends.
Honestly it became my only coping mechanism and made my ADHD much worse to the point that my job and relationship with my wife were both in jeopardy. I'm super glad I stopped
Interesting question. I'm the past if tried to stop and got a far s far as a few months but experienced cravings the whole time. This time though, the desire to quit came from a deep internal rather than external motivation to quit plus I got diagnosed and began treatment for ADHD. Basically, I didn't have cravings much at all.

In Finland smoking weed and playing disc golf is not a thing. Played fpr 13 years, never even smelled weed on a round

This must be an american thing? I play disc golf and don't know anyone who uses cannabis (though it's not legal here either).

The weed is mainly a US thing. Pretty common in the UK too.

All I'm saying is the grass smokers don't leave beer bottles and cans around the park.
Einstein9073
they just leave filters everywhere, and the occasional empty plastic joint tube

Maybe you live in a town with angry drunks. Roomate works night shift at wafflehouse and confirmed, drunks do tip better.

At my local disc golf course there are recycling bins and ash trays at each tee.
Isthe4thtimethecharm
Nice that they provided them. Sad that they had to. Even sadder when someone doesn't use them.
donthaveonebrojustlurk
It's not sad, it's part of a safe and healthy use of the natural environment. Can't play beer handed without a beer.

I'm glad that my one pothead coworker prefers whole herb vaping. Very little residual smell, and nothing to throw away (that i've seen)
