shouldn't feed wild insects to domestic pets. might have parasites.

Hungry boi

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Squirrels love them too, but they usually spit out the wings.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

that right....NOM NOM THAT LOUD PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!!...sorry got too many in the trees in my area.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh my god… why did I unmute this?!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I always fed my hamsters the big brown spiders we had in our basement. Also mealworms...

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Almost every animal, even strict vegetarians like rabbits & sheep will eat cicadas when they are numerous. Hamsters of course, are killers.

My dog caught one on a walk and all I heard was buzz (muffled bzzz) buzz (muzzled bzz) as she chomped away.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Supposed to be good on pizza too.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That'll shut up the annoying buggers!

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This must be one of those Cicada Killer wasps I've heard about.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

As a cicada, I can confirm. I was killed by a wasp that looked very much like this one here.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Cicada broods are basically a smorgasbord for other animals. Damn near everything eats them.

Wow....who knew??

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Won’t hamsters eat their own babies? Or did I hear incorrect information from someone?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Rabbits also? But it's when food is scarce, not for kicks.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they do

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Apparently they taste like shrimp

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dog wakes me up early during cicada season just so he can try and eat them. He's gotten over 10 in a walk before.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My cats go nuts during cicada season. I have a collection of wings from them.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My dog eats cicadas as well. She brought one into my house a couple of nights ago, just fell from my ceiling this morning. She then ate it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did not know hamsters eat bugs

4 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 0

So do rats! Most rodents will happily take protein when it's offered.

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

They don't. But sometimes a motherfucker finds out...

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 5

A well known treat for hamsters are mealworms. Or (occasionally) chicken. Hamsters are garbage disposals.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They do... even they'd eat their own babies too. :C

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

For our next NiGhTmArE episode...

Sometimes you're the hamster...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that's the most metal thing i'v ever seen

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

You ever see the one where the horse east the baby chick?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought it stomped it? The one where the pelicsn eats the other bird is a good one too

I like how the cat just kinda paused there and thinks... "did that hen really...? I was gonna... sigh, was gonna play with it for a bit."

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's a cock, not a hen

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I fink it’s a hen

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At least, I'm petty sure it is

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It might be, but the cat might not know.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh snap they are omnivores!!you go little predator!

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yeah... and they'd eat their own babies too sometime. I had found out the hard way at the age of 7.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You ok bro?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm 37 now. Yeah, I'm ok. lol

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Still brings back the trauma years later

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You guys get trauma?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Til hamster willingly eat bugs, and can stuff a whole cicada in thier cheeks.

4 years ago | Likes 493 Dislikes 1

That's not all they eat, if they get even a little malnourished, they'll eat eachother easily.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Emergency food.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I also recently learned this as I bought a hammy. Apparently protein like bugs are pretty damn important for them.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Most rodents will happily eat bugs. Great source of protein and fats.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hamsters can stuff a freaking basketball in their cheeks

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gotta get that protein somehow. The other option is baby back ribs.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hamsters are omnivores and they're goddamn savage. My parents friends kids had some and they fed them green anoles. Savage asshole brats

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They eat the pinkies, damned cannibals.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most rodents are omnivores. You haven't sit shit until you've seen rats dragging frog and lizards away still kicking and screaming.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ll never forget the first time I gave my hamster a cricket. He was so excited and he ripped the things head of viciously, guts flying!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they love mealworms

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I did not know this

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

most animals don't eat meat because they do not hunt. Almost nothing is above eating meat when it's readily available. see cow eating chick.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Omg !! I've seen the horse do that but a cow ???????

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most rodents are omnivorous. It's just that nuts and stuff are more plentiful so that's what they eat more of.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Will they eat roaches?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes but, I have a feeling they're not very good. My babies LOVED live insects but would always choose fruit or nuts over roaches. :)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably, but I wouldn't feed your pets random insects lying about. You can probably get a bag of crickets or something at the pet store.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That guy just went fucking ham on that thing. Wow ()_()

4 years ago | Likes 94 Dislikes 1

That's why they're called hamsters, hard as a motherfucker

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

He went for the eyes while it was still alive

4 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

That's the yummy part

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The big european hamsters will also eat frogs, worms, slugs and even mice...

4 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Uuh, they're called European humans thank you very much.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And candle wax in grave yards!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Indeed. They're almost as flexible as rats when it comes to food.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Big European hamsters? How big we talking?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They weigh up to 650 grams and can grow up to 35 cm (14 in) long (without tail).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want a giant ham ham.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately, they're critically endangered so you can't. Also, they're pretty aggressive... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf06WJQ4FnE

Nice

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

We boarded our dogs once and the fleas sucked my hamster dry. I was about 10 as well. Not quite as bad but definitely traumatizing.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All rodents are opportunistic omnivore predators.

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

I stand corrected re: capybaras, guinea pigs and beavers. But mice, rats, squirrels etc. eat anything that doesn't fight back too much.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are lots of rodents that are true herbivores.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

There isn't a single mammal on this planet that exclusively eats plant food. Even cows and giant pandas supplement their diet with meat.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

The traumatizing horse eating a baby chick comes to my mind. And I have seen desert hares feed on road pizza here

Tortoises eat carrion

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're expanding it to all mammals for some reason then Elephants too.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cows eat insects by accident, hippos kill crocs, and eat carrion such as dead crocs, which they may or may not have killed earlier!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cows will even gobble up bird chicks and other small vertebrates. Sometimes carrion like this rabbit.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Out of interest, which rodent do you think that is? Capybaras have not been observed eating meat on purpose afaik, but they ingest plenty …

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

of insects while grazing. Other rodents opportunistically snack on insects, slugs, carrion, even small vertebrates.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Guinea pigs, rabbits, hares, beavers to name a few. Incidentally eating insects or other animals doesn't mean they aren't herbivores.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Fair point on guinea pigs and beavers. As for the term herbivore, it describes the main diet rather than an exclusive diet. Otherwise cows,…

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Aren't rabbits and hares lagomorphs?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The fact that you called it "true herbivore" instead of just herbivore makes it sound like you meant they ate no meat at all.
