or you can rob a blood drive

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if i just mix my own blood into the melted iron, to make a mythical bond with it?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unrelated, I have...free punch and pie for everyone who visits the secluded back room of my forge. Nothing fishy. Come on over...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How would you separate iron from blood? Asking for a friend.

Why stop with just a sword you also need shinguards, chest plate, helmet, shield and bracers

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well this actually sounds like it's within the realm of possibility.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or just 300, if they're really fat

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that doesn't sound right, i think the number would be bigger, much bigger, like in the thousands.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a lot less then I thought it would be

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Easy, already have that. What next?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whoa... Stalin must've had a whole arsenal of longswords.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How many for a dagger?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That seems doable

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could also capture someone you really hate and regularly blood let them, then kill them with a sword made from their own blood.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then perform a necromatic ritual to bind the souls of the people who became the sword. Summon them in combat and have a ghost army.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Found the actual necromancer.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's bring practical, use all your resources to their full extent. Think of it as going green.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It will be a pretty small long sword and would weight between 2-4 grams... Interesting false facts

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For science: 1dl blood has between 25 and 168 mygrams => 60dl*359*0.000168g=3.719 g

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wasn't there a Tumblr post about using carbon and other parts of the bodies to reduce the required kill count?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A good medieval european sword blade was about 0.5-0.6% carbon. Not much of a reduction in the iron you need.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That seems kind of low. Are we talking about a rapier?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

a heavy zweihander is like 5 kilos. Heavy for a longsword would be 2 kilos. Most guys have maybe 4-5 grams of iron in their bodies. So (1)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

1500/4.5 = 333 men killed and their body de-ironed.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well that kinda depends on how good you are at extracting iron and purifying it

8 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

How does one extract iron from blood? You know, hypothetically. For a friend.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

you could boil it or centrifuge it, make it precipitate from solution as ironoxide and then reduce it to iron from there i guess...

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Numbers seem sketchy, where is science side of imgur? Mols of iron per litre, average litres etc etc ok go

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A usable life hack at last.

8 years ago | Likes 173 Dislikes 1

Bravo good sir on the user name and the comment. I say, this should have more upvotes

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

finally a reason to be a mortician

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or death hack?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You can also burn the bones to use the carbon to strengthen the blade

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

You're much better off burning everything else for carbon, than a structure that's 80%+ calcium phosphate.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Does blood type affect quality?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

No it doesn't, blood type is determined by antibodies. Those don't contain any iron.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I hate to b negative, but the answer is no

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A+ question!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Outstanding!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

O, I don't know. Probably, but I'm not positive.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Very nice work.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I see what you did there

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's assuming you get all the blood too and make no mistakes processing.

8 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 2

So round to 500 for mistakes

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Let's add another 10, we need a bucket of blood to quench the blade

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That'd *probably* not be great for the metal tbh. Now if you rendered their body fat into oil

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Its be terrible for the metal, the sword would shatter first time you use it. But it looks so cool in the movies

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Also it's making an high-carbon steel

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Is that a good thing of a bad thing?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Compared to iron? It's way better, it's still sensible to rust but it's a lot stronger than iron. you have to procure the carbon though.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

no, I mean, is High Carbon steel better or worse than low carbon steel?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, high steel is stronger than low carbon but if you have impurity in it it'll be more brittle than with low carbon

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Smarter to kill 3 or 4 times the amount, just to make sure you have enough, and its of better quality, as you'll need to refine it a lot.

8 years ago | Likes 999 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah good luck getting 100% yield out of the extraction.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just kill like ten guys and cool the sword with the blood instead of water

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well, also the original calculation probably assumes 100% extraction, whereas chemical processes like that one might be far lower efficiency

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like the way you think

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3-4? You're underestimating how many do-overs it's going to take me.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

3-4 times. I suggest you start with 359 then do 1436

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Based on your username, I take your professional advice.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This guy kills.

8 years ago | Likes 207 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

smarter still to keep a couple around and drain their blood slowly over time to have a renewable resource

8 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 0

Could take longer though, plus you'd have a hard time keeping the blood so you might want to collect all the victims ahead of time

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Not if you face enough of them. Keep them drained and chained like the djinn from Supernatural

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I'd rather just press 'em like grapes.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why not keep one in basement and keep draining a pint or two from a single body over time.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It'd take years, then.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HOW LONG DO YOU THINK WOULD IT TAKE TO KILL 359 PEOPLE SMARTY PANTS?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I reckon after about a hundred you get pretty good at it...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...if you dont get caught after the first few.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

According to all the Conan and Berserk I've read? Pretty quick.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depending on how you do it... From years to about 2 seconds? In a world where you're forging a sword out of blood I assume there is magic.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, you'd need to feed your prisoner foods containing iron... why go throught his middleman? (heh)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You could just feed them cereal and bread, relatively cheap

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wonder how many boxes of cereal it would take to make a sword? Now I want a sword forged from the breakfast of my enemies...

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

not to mention the fact that no reaction has a yield of 100%

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

That's not true, there are tons of reactions that give quantitative yields. The loss comes from the extraction and purification.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well it get into what do you define as the reaction and what do you mean by 100% and but it is fair to say as a general rule that you won't

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There is no room to argue the definition of 100% and chemical reaction.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

get 100% for a reaction

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I commented something similar, but then read your preexisting comment. I commend thee.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I commend thee for remember chemistry principles

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

After killing 359 enemies, what do you need the sword for? You obviously have the correct means for killing.

8 years ago | Likes 581 Dislikes 1

Depends how many continues you use

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, you start with the sword, but then you need the rest of your tier 1 gear.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To improve your gear to fight the end boss... the dreaded mother-in-law

What if it was a sword forged from the blood of your fallen clansmen\tribe, using the blood of your fallen kin to avenge them?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ooo. Forged by the gods and returned to him by an eagle for his glorious revenge!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

cos a sword made of the blood of ur enemies is fucking epic dude

How about making a drinking cup? To celebrate your victory.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

If you're going to do that, just drink from skulls of your enemy.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Drinking from a cup made from your enemies blood is way more badass. But why not both?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I SHALL DRINK MY ENEMIES BLOOD FROM A CUP MADE OF MY ENEMIES BLOOD THAT I HAVE SLAIN WITH A SWORD MADE FROM MY ENEMIES BLOOD!!!!!!!!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haven't you seen that comic where the guy can't drink from the skills of his enemies cos the fluid just runs out from the eye-holes?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

we can plug the holes, we have the technology.... seriously, just make an inner lining out of clay or something.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Skulls make bad cups. Too many holes and acidic drinks dissolve it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Line the inner part with a layer of clay, boom, done.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cut the crown off, turn it upside down, and use it like a bowl

SUGAR FOR THE SUGARGOD!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s how I feel about the whole avengers movie plot

8 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 4

So many plot holes with it. Strange could have easily used the time stone for more than scenario runthrough but clearly it doesn't matter...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

That was probably covered by the 1mil scenario is he saw in the future

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

one of the theories out there is that this path is the one path to victory that he saw and it's not done yet. There's a second part to IW.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How is that even "one" of the theories, he pretty much says that is the case outright before vanishing.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, it somehow isn't that clear. There are threads aplenty discussing this "out of character" moment for Strange.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you forget how big a deal it was the last time the time stone was used?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, the Earth was saved from imminent destruction... God forbid that happening again

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't feel it's wrong for Strange to use the time stone to win a battle against a guy that uses the space stone to visit the toilet...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Earth is a paltry reward when the risk is the unraveling of the very function of time across existence.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then you're dense. He's talking about affecting an entire universe. Local space travel pales in comparison.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Except not. He has the Infinity Gauntlet and stones. He can do as he wishes. Thanos original reason for wiping out 50% makes more sense.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Yes, he could conceivably increase the necessary resources for every civilization everywhere forever, but that's a lot more work.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wasn't the original reason cause he wanted to dog pound death?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

What could be a more understandable reason?
