When someone punches you in the stomach and the TacoBell from earlier decides to make a reappearance

Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Taco Bell, amirite?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ain’t that some kinda electronic discharge? Their wiring is shit

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yes. Electronic discharge from the sky. ?

That poor rat

I once saw flames rythmically shooting out of a sewer (gasleak), and to this day I regret not having filmed it.

How come such a big residential complex don't have any lightening arrestor?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's grate!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? Kinda gives me a sinking feeling.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tons of big buildings with lotsa metal on top, yet lightning strikes like THE lowest point? How's that possible?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They're saying now that its just an explosion. No lightning. I dunno what to believe.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Welcome to Imgur, @OP ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank u. I'm probably doing some noob shit that i'm not aware of. ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok now make the explosion fire an upvote

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Thor landed right in the drink

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Was that today? Its been raining like crazy

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup. Bukit batok.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not too far from me, but then thats not saying much in Singapore haha

Sewer operator here. US based. Lightning likely struck somewhere nearby and lit the methane causing the explosion. Happens a lot.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fuck that manhole in particular

Fuck that chud in particular

are we not doing phrasing any more?

Well...

Better clean that mess up Zeus. We all know Singapore's attitude to dropping rubbish on the street.

"That's a canin'"

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Zeus? You mean Thor, right?

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Zorba isn't from Singapore.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah definitely Zeus. He was trying to find something new to stick his dick in.

4 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

IIRC he was warned multiple times about littering, and still did it, so yeah they caned him. Good for them.

Singathor

looks more like internal explosion. Maybe lightning strike sparked something.

4 years ago | Likes 350 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I was like, this goes against everything I know about lightning https://what-if.xkcd.com/16/

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the sewage gas that smells horrible

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

^ yes. Methane, likely from organics/sewage decomposition.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sewer gas, perhaps???

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

"Poo gas." - Sergeant Cosgrove.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that would be most gruesome if we had internal explosions when we got zapped

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

With enough zappage, we do indeed explode!

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Zapologia?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

how much zappage? asking for a friend

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Methane build up maybe.

4 years ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 0

Maybe the lightning rod was grounded close to the manhole where it ignited the methane buildup? It really doesn't look like a direct hit.

I would have thought it to be impossible for lightening to ignore the higher buildings and go for a manhole like that, are we sure about it?

4 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 1

Yes, we completely sure.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Also the total absence of any lightning

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

The lightning may have struck elsewhere that somehow lead to ignition of the sewer gas, or the lightning flash may have been coincidental.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ive seen lightning hit the middle of a London street near the car i was in. it was at night. I don't remember if there was a manhole there

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah exactly my taughts

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Loosen up there buddy.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks CG to me

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

What a figment of my imagination would say

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree, but it's real. It's on news sites with comments from the fire dept and photo of them on scene investigating.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My initial thoughts exactly. Looks fake - especially the explosion. Lightning doesn't do that.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

It could have ignited whatever was beneath the cover.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was my thought too, with a huge building and trees nearby it would be next to impossible for it to get hit...

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Improbable

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Lightning can ignore tall objects - it’s just unlikely to do so. If you watch slowed down videos, a strike is preceded by 30 or so feelers -

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That trace out potential pathways for the rest of the charge. When one touches the ground (or something connected to it, the rest of the

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Charge rushes along the newly completed line. (Well, technically up, not down) the path can connect any two points, but since charge

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Builds along the closest surfaces it can, tall things get hit far more often.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Metal grating might've been a better ground than the trees, lower resistance and whatnot? Electricity at that scale is weird.

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but tall buildings with lighting rods are better, perhaps?

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Do they have lightning rods?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. Otherwise the building might be damaged by a lightning strike.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*Otherwise the lightning will have to find the next best ground, such as a manhole cover for example
