"But the human eye can only see 30fps" - some dickhead

8 years ago | Likes 799 Dislikes 13

If I understand correctly, the average is only 30 fps. However, when looking at 30 frames footage, not every frame is seen because it's 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Not synced. 60 frames has more potential data. And so forth with diminishing returns 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As someone who is used to 60fps, I recently saw someone using a 144hz monitor and was just blown away.

Movies and many videos are 24 FPS. It heavily depends on the media; a movie at 24 FPS is fine, but an action game at 24 FPS is terrible.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If you have a static shot of an object moving against a black background, 24fps can look like like a slideshow

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

still waiting for science to let me upgrade my specs, like, actual upgrades, not just glasses-level

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wonder if what they mean is that we can see that many individual frames. But thats still dumb for the sense of video viewing

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The human eye can only see 30 underwater clams per second. Fact

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So how come we distinguish the fluidity of 60 fps if we can see 30? Is 30 a lie?

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

*Crzz* We found the special move in, over. *Crzz*

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

For slow moving scenes, you won't notice a difference past 30 FPS. 60 Hz monitors can't display past 60 FPS either. Outside of that...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Framerate matchup issues?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

30, or even 24 for in films, is enough to fool our eyes into thinking we are seeing a moving image instead of a series of images. But, 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2/2 it isn't good enough yet to look as smooth as real life. Just smooth enough for us not to be put off by it. In fast panning, you notice.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes, according to a lil Google search it's around 1000 fps

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

It's not at all that simple... Our eyes don't work in FPS. Most have don't notice much from 144Hz to 240, anything higher it's even harder

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's why, when I see something with 60 fps, I always watch it twice.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Human eye can only see 30 fps

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 33

Well almost broke even tho I was being sarcastic I can’t go back to 30 fps after getting my 120 panel. Oh well you win some lose some

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Found the dickhead

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

I worked at a phone company and we used to say the human eye can only see so many pixels to sell cheaper handsets with bad cams. I hated it

8 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 0

Still there is a limit of what we can see... Just recently found out that my Note 4 automatically turns resolution down to FHD (instead of

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 2

native 1440p) whilst gaming to save power. Never would have guessed that there is a difference by looking at it...

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Good. Why burn battery to render pixels you can't even see?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck me I've had a note 4 since release and could have sworn it was 1080 this whole time went to correct you and checked first, damn

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

With a screen that small, 1440p seems a bit overkill to me. Do you notice it being better yourself?

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

You won't notice the difference unless you put the font size and icon sizes smaller. Then on a higher res phone it'll look more crisp.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really. that's what I meant. Only found out about the default enabled feature by looking into the settings.

The diminishing returns fall off more so around 200+fps. Hence why 240hz monitors are used in top-tier fps games with some pros.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's probably because of motion blur masking the difference. It's easier to spot the difference with close to no motion blur.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a BenQ XL2411Z with blur reduction enabled at just 1.5ms persistence. The difference between 120 and 144 is quite noticeable.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've tried a few times between 60 and 144, can't see much difference, and deffinately not enough of a difference to buy a $500 screen

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I got my Asus ROG Swift 165hz for $800 lol. 100% worth it for Overwatch. Completely changed the game.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Play Rocket League with FPS limit of 60fps on a 144hz screen, then play at 144fps. It's a big difference. i got a 144hz monitor for $200.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is one of the games I tried it. Didn't see a difference

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Did you use a 144htz screen? Because unless you did then you were looking at 60fps
