This is my closest and oldest pal, Nintendo. He's been around ever since i was born, and although many have come into our home He will always be my dearest. But this past weekend, something terrifying happened.

After a year off at college I wanted to catch up. I pressed the power button and no light came on. It was plugged in, and we tried many other adapters.

My father, a skilled electrician and tech guy, tried to revive him but to no avail. Dear Nintendo had already been lost. After 18 years of friendship and *28* years in this family, he finally gave up. I...I don't know how I'll ever move on.
(please note that this is a satirical post).

30 years? Math does not compute.

Maybe you should stop karma whoring and just use an emulator. Or join the 21st century. Either is good.

We can revive it - we have the technology!

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am truely sorry for your loss. might I suggest recycling the case to make a HTPC that can play the emulators?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

haaaaaaaaaaaave you met Emulator?

13 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah Emulator, Jack of all trades, master of none.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You need a USB controller to go with it if you want the right feel to the games. Output to an old TV for max nostalgia.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My sincere consolences. (misspelled on purpose)

Goodbye, NES... Seems I never, played you at all... But you had the strength to entertain, when my grades began to fall...

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and it seems to me you lived your life like a gaming console should, always blowing on the cartridge when the dust set in...

My Commodore 64 and Atari 2600 send their condolences.....

One does not simply go from NES to SNES.

Wash your mouth with soap!

13 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

omg too soon do you even care?

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Bullshit. I live by "nothing can't be fixed". Open it up, one of the capacitors are probably dead.

13 years ago | Likes 765 Dislikes 6

yup. a cap or the power supply. or was the PS on the plug? I forget. My cousin borrowed my NES 10 years ago and I haven't seen it since.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

flux capacitors?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who said Imgur's sense of community was dead? Look at them rally to restore life to this NES.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hell, could be a bad solder joint shaken loose after years of being moved from one place to another. Nothing a touch up can't fix. Pics!

13 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Hackers unite, classic electronics are in need of our many skillsets!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live by this creedo as well!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me too. I also find that things fix better after a few beers.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Respect for the Electricians' Fluke 25 meter. So, start with basics; power (including fuses) and mechanical first (always). I can help.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is a nice DVOM

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any thing can be fixed, it just comes down to the price of fixing vs the price of a working one. A blown cap is cheap and easy to fix.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn Right!!! Never let go Renjomi!

make an image of this..of imgur's superstar electrical repair team.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a non tech person marrying a I.T consultant and over all geek, I am shocked that so many things can be fixed with these capacitor things

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

capacitors are frequent problem causers. they dry out, get V-spiked, and older ones just plain swell up. Isolating the problem one is hell.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He showed me one that was blown one time, it was all puffed at the top if I remember right. Then there are the ones for time travel.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right. Try to find a tech writeup on the internet for the list of common causes, and remember to start with the easier stuff.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Experienced EE here. I would check the AC adapter first. And the jack that it needs to be plugged in to. Both easily replaced if needed.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Start a PayPal account to solicit funds for a repair job. I'll donate.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

'Nothing can't be fixed' Nothing is a lack of thing but you need stuff to fix things that can't be fixed... do you have a Philosopher Stone?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can't fix nothing. Nothing can't have properties to determine whether or not it is fixed.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I guess if you divide by zero it breaks nothing.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He probably just needs a new flux capacitor

13 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

Arr, you beat me.
