Ever watch a foreign language flick but afterwards you remember it as if the characters were speaking English? or whatever language u speak?
Juancarloszx9
Yup!
lljkstonefish
Inglourious Basterds. The film was about 30% english, and language plays a key part, but I "know" the performances of everyone.
DrArsMoriendi
Trying to learn French. Watching with French audio and French subtitles is a lifesaver

LurkerLurky
Oh you mean these massive fuckin subtitties?
Enkeria
Most movies I watch have subtitles. Its because I am Swedish and the movies are from Hollywood. So this flys over my head.
LittleBrainDrops
The idea is that you're "supposed" to be watching the movie and not staring at the subtitles because movies are visual, not solely textual.
Same here, I'm Dutch. It's 2nd nature to us to scan the subtitles and missing just milliseconds of the movie. I don't miss a thing.

In both situations, it is possible to develop the talent of looking down while looking up...

I cant watch anything without subtitles it’s like I can’t hear anything without it lol
bouncebounceandtheclaw
Right? Then there's a crash or music and that's loud enough to hear but not the conversations. I wonder if my hearing is going.
Some shows are mixed to depend on a center channel speaker. If you're listening only in stereo, the dialog track can be too quiet.
Shelest
I'm the same, and this actually concerns me, like I can't process speech without subtitles.
cantthinkofaclevernameatm
We watch a lot with subs when its in English (not our mothertongue). I'm bilingual, so I try to ignore the subs and just look when 1/?
Needed. Sometimes, when the characters speaks a foreign language (arab, italian, whatever), i found myself trying to figure out what 2/?
They are saying without reading the subs. Im then like "you dumb fuck, read the subs, you understand sweet fuck all right now' lol 3/3

I've got a 2 year old that wakes up if a guy down the road coughs. Subtitles are a lifesaver

White noise machines or an old phone playing music can really help
Gibleteousjack
You must not live in the city. It's annoying noises here 24/7.
FawltyMotors
Dude. Same. Helpful hint... Bluetooth audio transmitter. Bluetooth headphones.
PrincessWasabi
Plug in a fan at night or white noise machine
Skr121
A WHAT noise machine?
Photeus
This absolutely. Our daughter would wake up from the lightest noise. Using a fan the slight hum is enough to drown out most noise
curmudgeon91
And it trains the brain to sleep through low level noise, which I wish I could... I also wake up when someone down the road coughs.
Yeah he has a noise machine that plays white noise, but it's still not enough to drown out everything
Crank it up to 11
Is this that movie "The Hills Have Eyes"?

Vergenbuurg
Nah, it's from "The Hills Have Size"
Upon checking, out of curiosity, it appears that is the title of a hentai series XD
