My gf does brain research with barn owls. She said she screached back at one once and it was paralyzed with confusion.

Do you need a permit to have an owl as a pet?

9 years ago | Likes 261 Dislikes 3

I'm certain it depends on the state in which you reside.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, it’s classified as a raptor, so you need a falconry permit to keep this wild animal. Federally and state regulated

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if someone online has a pet owl, they probably dont live in the USA - theyre popular in japan, though so they might not be hard to get there

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure, but owl bet u do.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends if their permitted

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

You don't want one. Yes, I know it looks cute. It's a wild, predatory animal that prefers to be active while you're asleep

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Pretty much any non domesticated animal should not be kept as a pet and generally hates being touched. Reptiles hate it, birds too

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully not because you shouldn't be allowed to keep them as pets at all. Not every species is pet compatible.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

Not if you have your hogwarts letter

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Cat, owl or toad was the rules. Did Ron break the rules or not, since he brought a rat that was actually a human?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

there are many animals and birds that make good pets. Owls and other birds of prey are not one of them. get a crow or raven instead.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not if you don't tell anyone.

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

Unless it's a rehab or other similar organization, yes.

9 years ago | Likes 166 Dislikes 1

My aunt takes in ones that can't be released from the local rehab center. She still needs a permit.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did falconry while I was living in Kuwait, loved it so much, now I'm back in Michigan, it's mission impossible to get a license. Such BS

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Is that because it's considered a "predator bird" like Hawks and Falcons or some other reason?

9 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 2

Bird of prey or "raptor". Yes.

9 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

They are not an animal that enjoys being a pet. That is the only reason i can give you when I say please don't own an owl.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Thank you for this! Owls are WILD ANIMALS, unlike dogs and cats which are domesticated and whose lives are improved by human interaction -

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

- owls can take care of themselves and all of their own needs and prefer to do so. Keeping an owl as a pet is solely selfish and egocentric

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know enough about it, but I know bring petted TERRIFIES THEM. Can anyone more knowledgeable help offer reasons so owls aren't sad?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure, but owl ask someone hoo knows

"Special" forces

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They look like some kind of shanker group.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm more creeped out by the two owls on the right swaying about rather than the owl eating a fucking rat whole.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Owl's eyes are set in their skull. They can't swivel their eyes. This is how they get 3D vision.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Someone needs to make a Pokemon version of that gif (4 Rowlets, one eating an entire Alolan Rattata).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 lookouts scanning the area, one making intimidating noises while the 4th is vulnerable eating. would be majestic if it wasn't so creepy.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

the twins, the glutton, and the joker who never shuts up

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wtf r those feet o.o

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That one owl is like, "chug chug chug!"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The 2 on the right are doing a threat display and the one not eating is panting due to stress . Source: I worked with these birds. Scary.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the one in the back is broken, might to get a refund.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Owls are fucking scary

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's like that basic white girl crew in the club and the one on the left is just stuffing the gullet

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"who" - owl, probably.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I've been looking for this gif of that owl choking on a fucking rabbit my whole life.

9 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

Last time I checked rabbits do not have such a long tails...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They have no teeth, so they swallow their food whole.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's not an owl but a feathered half-apple

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not choking that's just how they eat

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

That rat is a little big for him, though. And they don't always eat it whole. I've seen them rip the head/legs off before eating the body.
