Cats are just tiny lions

Even cats need cats

The Lynx probably thinks it's a weird kitten.

For your cake day, I give you an imaginary point :)

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Watched the video and think it's so cute how cats lick each other to show affection. I should start doing that with all MY friends, too!

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

...........

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'll need a licker license to do that.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My friends aren't fans. They scream that they now smell like spit. It's not fair really.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Plot twist: I have no friends.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No twist, in fact understandable and accepted.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Preferably if you are a female. Male licking of friends is currently seen as a socially unacceptable trait in most circles. Gays excepted.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder how many stray cats have been eaten at the zoo before this one won the lottery :)

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Many, many, likely.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Zoos make me sad, but this makes me happy.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

In wild, live short life of stress and fear. In zoo get 3 squares, meds, shelter, security, min. stress. Life is x 2 long, happy, safe.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

aaaaw. Poor lynx was so lonely and bored. He got a friend!!

11 years ago | Likes 1782 Dislikes 3

and then he ate him

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Wild lynx are known to kill domestic cats, so this is a bit unusual.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

And if he gets tired of this couch hopper, he can eat him.

11 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Yay for the circle of life

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Now they're gonna take it away...

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

If I wasn't worried about the kittehs I would say every lonely zoo cat should get a little domestic cat for company!

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

Apparently stray dude needed some lovin' too. Damn them feels.

11 years ago | Likes 153 Dislikes 1

Woah, keep those feels to yourself! The floor is getting all soggy over here.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Apologies to stray Ms Kitty. The lynx is a lady too, right? Daaaw.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't know about the lynx, I can only tell the (probable) gender of calico kitties.

The zoo actually adopted the stray so that the two of them could stay friends.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"They have been inseparable since. Now they are living together at the Zoo." - from the article.

Why, tell me what I'll find so I don't click it. Don't you know curiousity killed the cat.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The cat was a stray, abandoned. And found herself a way into the lynx' enclosure, and the Lynx didn't mind sharing its food with him/her.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

if there was ever a time to be done...it would be now.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read this comment too late. Farewell, my imgurians. The cute cat story site has claimed me.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn it, OP!

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Ugh. Is that from the new Judge Dredd?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Are we talking about the lynx or the cat?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

why do you think the cat went in there?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Omg me too I had to read that comment twice lol

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I didn't watch it because i thought thats where it went. Can you tell me what it is so i don't have to watch it?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's just them chilling out. OP meant it as a joke that addicts shouldn't click the link because its a cute cat story.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Calico kitty snuck into the Lynx's enclosure for food, they became best buddies and the zoo adopted the kitty (nobody got eaten)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't be fooled Lynx, he's there to eat your food.

11 years ago | Likes 1875 Dislikes 4

You can't fool a lynx.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the source link says that is exactly the reason why it snuck into the enclosure in the first place

11 years ago | Likes 272 Dislikes 0

Source also mentions that if he keeps doing that he will become the food?

11 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

All it said is that the Lynx didn't mind it at all, and that they have become inseparable, so they adopted the cat to stay with the Lynx.

11 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Don't be fooled cat, he's there to eat you.

11 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

That's the browser I'm using now!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't be fooled Lynx, he is your food.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

hahaha

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That cat must be pretty good at stealing food because for a stray he's pretty fat.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

as you can see the cat is a master thief

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He eats Big Cat food now.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

*she, all calico cats are female

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

+1 for science.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

My friend has a male calico and he is not sterile before you ask.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey! Friendly reminder to use gender neutral language when referring to animals as they cannot communicate their preferred pronouns.

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

I get that reference XD

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It still trips me out at how much bigger feral cats act the same as domestic cats.

11 years ago | Likes 1093 Dislikes 9

It makes me really want a pet tiger, until I remember the way house cats will scratch the shit out of you for, like, no reason.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Fell asleep hunting one time and woke up with a bobcat kitten a short distance away from me meowing and purring while chasing butterflies.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

A kitty's a kitty no matter how big!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Unlike dogs, we didn't domesticate cats. They just moved in with us for all the free food.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

tells you how domesticated cats really are doesn't it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Most are even affected by catnip. Tigers aren't though (they're kinda oddballs.)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just want to clarify the term 'feral'. Feral refers to a domesticated species that is born/raised wild. Big Cats are WILD, not feral.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, except they are way more physically needy than even a dog and will jealously attack your friends in the face. That house cat?LifeOVER.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know right, I was like 'Is that a kitten next to a mature cat, or what?'

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's because cats are one of the few species that chose to be domesticated. They chose to associate themselves with humans.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Amen!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've heard it said we didn't domesticate cats, we just bred them smaller until they were too small to eat us.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yup, and the fact that big cats love boxes just as much as house cats proves it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J11uu8L8FTY&feature=kp

There's a fun science book you might want to read - it's actually called "Shrinking the Cat" by Sue Hubble.

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I've observed a lot of African lions in the wild. (Biology is the best career!) The "cat flop" is universal. So is getting stuck in trees.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

if I fits.... I sits.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's because "domestic" cats are not really domestic. They are still natural predators and can digest raw meat unlike dogs.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Actually only mostly true if they're given meat from the start, otherwise: Barf on all the things!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

UNG UNG UNG UNG UNG.... *blarrrgh*

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is such a good onomatopoeia!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or rather how much our domestic house cats act like their feral brethren.

11 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 1

I think they're #1 on the 'domesticated animals closest to their wild brothers' list. i have to find that source.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That username tho...

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The link to WHY is on my profile. Enjoy.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

wild cat species are not feral. the small cat here might be feral.

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Most likely is. And for lack of better terminology I chose feral.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

"wild"

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I suppose YOU'VE never blanked out and had a "brain-fart"?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cats never really stop being smaller big cats. One of our cats was lost for close to a year, came back one day like nuthin' happened

11 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

HOW did it know how to return? Did you ever figure out where it had been?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same thing happened when I was a kid. We had a cat who disappeared for months, came back with a new scar, drank some water and fell asleep.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

We had about 17 cats at one point when I was a kid. Strays would show up, eat and stick around forever. Sorry, we probably fed your cat...

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Like wtf did it do for a year?!

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

whatever the hell he wanted, it sounds like. it probably made a decent netflix adventure movie id say, 7/10 -ign

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Killed literall everything it could get its tiny paws on?

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

wouldn't you like to know....

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

A feral cat is a domesticated (bred) cat which has then gone stray/wild. Wild cats are not feral.

11 years ago | Likes 162 Dislikes 12

so pretty much nothing we're talking about qualifies as "feral" what with the whole raised in captivity situation

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If the lynx escaped you could MAYBE call it feral (iffy). The cat is kind of feral because a zoo isn't its domestic scenario (also iffy).

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Feral also just means wild. Originally it wasn't even a term for domesticated animals born in the wild.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

But how does this help with the statement?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the correction - this one of my biggest vocabulary pet peeves.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I see what you did there.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh. My bad. But you still get my point.

fe·ral adjective \ˈfir-əl, ˈfer-; ˈfe-rəl\ : of, relating to, or resembling a wild beast

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

This is a good example of how the scientific definition of a word can be so different from the "casual" definition. Pretty cool stuff!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

shut the fuck up. Selectively pick the least descriptive, most irrelevant definition you can find in order to be contrary? Just google it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

Just google it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"having reverted to the wild state, as from domestication: a pack of feral dogs roaming the woods."

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"b. Having returned to an untamed state from domestication."

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wikipedia is not infallible.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1. "...esp after being domestic or cultivated"

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No. Words have more than one definition. Don't tell people they're wrong when they're using a different but correct definition.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

sure, but which definition applies here? wild, ferocious and brutish? or about animals being neither domestic nor wild? use common sense!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

I mean do you honestly think OP meant to describe the lynx as "savage and brutish?". Use your fucking brain.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

"—used to describe an animal (such as a cat or dog) that has escaped and become wild"

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

House cats are basically the same, except smaller. Scale one up to lion size and it would likely maul you to death.

11 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

People talk about their cats being evil, but my 4-year-old lady had never ever hurt me until last month. I was playing with her with 1/

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

my hand under a thin blanket, and she was tackling it. Her claw went into the blanket and found my hand. She seemed genuinely sorry, 2/

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

stopped playing, licked my hand, and walked around me meowing until I picked her up and soothed her. 3/3

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My cat bites me daily.... but only when I pet him.. never stops purring... sadistic bastard!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does he bite for real? My other cat just kinda bats her teeth against my hand when she's done with the petting.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it's somewhere in between "real" and "I just need to set my teeth on you"... it friggin hurts! He only does it softly when I'm sick...
