She wrote me up for leaving work early to pick up my sick child from school then went on a 45 minute lecture about how she stayed and finished her shift when her son had a seizure. Didn't make me think anything better of her work ethic, just made me think she's a shitty parent

I have quit many jobs because of coworkers being shitty pieces of lazy shit and nothing ever getting done about it

I just quit my job today for this very reason. Fucking pervert. I really loved my job too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I literally just put in my 2 week notice, I hate the job, I actually really like my boss.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same here! I'm moving, wish I could take my managers with me.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let me tell you how to use a pie chart. This is the wrong way to pie.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's a disaster, it's a stacked bar chart represented as a pie? Who even thinks up shit like this. Is the area 25%? Or the height? It sucks.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Holy shit, her kid had a seizure and she still prioritized work?? Good riddance on leaving, she sound like a complete asshole

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I called my boss that my grandmother died and I have to prepare the funeral and this means I won't come to work that day. A few weeks (1)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

later he summoned me to his office and carefully explained to me that, should someone else from my family die unexpectedly, I must come (2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and work until 14:00 and then I would be allowed to leave...and that's one more reason to hate living in Germany:(

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll be leaving my boss soon too. I feel bad for the coworkers I'm leaving behind. Worst part is, she doesn't realize how bad she is.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nobody does. They all like to think they're working real hard, too. Sometimes the reason they're working so hard is they're dumb.

My mom's boss bullied her. Haven't seen my mom feeling so down in all my life. At least the boss is about to get replaced soon.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is so motherfuckin true... 100% true for me

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm mostly okay with my boss. I'd like to quit my co-workers though.

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Yup, feel that. But that might be due to my boss not dishing out consequences for laziness.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

This is true.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This!! I worked for a Starbucks inside a Kroger and they could never figure out who really had authority. I was their "best worker" 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But they took advantage of my work ethic, and I quit when they wouldn't give me the hours I needed which were agreed upon. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Happened to my girlfriend. She was supposed to be the 'lead employee', but boss hired... a second 'lead employee'. In a cafe? Doesn't work.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. One woman's mom died so they doubled my hours. Then dropped them in half again when she came back. I was pissed!! And then they 1/?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fucking hired another person! I was barely getting 16 hrs at the time and hiring a newby was going to cut everyone's hours to fit her in 2/?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the worst is when they actively prevent you from doing your job then bitch when your job wasn't done.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

or my personal favorite "white boys aren't hard workers" when I trained the rest of the staff and could work them all under the table...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Accurate, but remember this when you are the boss.

10 years ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 1

Last day at my job is Friday. Quitting because of discrimination. Becoming a boss at a new job on Monday. Definitely using this advice. :)

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

This is why I try to be the boss I always wanted and needed

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have 9 people reporting to me. I never nickel & dime them for time off or being late. I just ask they call/email me. As for work, 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

2/2 I ask they tell me if they make a mistake before I hear it from others. They are happy & go the extra mile without me having to ask.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh also gave raises & bonuses where deserved. You take care of your people, they will take care of you.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

wow. what a crazy concept. surely simple fairness isn't the answer? but for real, thank you for being a human.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm incredibly happy to work for a company that believes in "servant leadership". My job isn't to boss around my programmers. It's to coach,

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

facilitate communication, set priorities, remove roadblocks, and set the gameplan then get out of the way. Much more positive environment.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I just left my job because of the bosses, loved what I did, but they offered no growth no job security. Nothing.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Left for another job with much better pay. The days after I quit, I had the feeling that I'd just gotten out of an abusive relationship.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love my boss, hate my company. I bring in A TON of revenue, but get paid the same as people who work half as hard. (1/?)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As I read the text, the red in that circle keeps blinking.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The problem with most bosses these days is that they're exactly that: bosses. What we need are leaders.

10 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

100 times this!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why these days? Pretty sure there have been asshole bosses all throughout history

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think the problem is most bosses arent boss material. They're promoted into the role without considering if they're right for the role.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i just quit my boss on tuesday. greatest decision ive ever made. it feels like stepping out of a storm

10 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 0

Steve?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

nope.. sorry mang

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No worries. A really promising guy on my crew quit on Tuesday after a fight with the boss. Wasn't sure if that was you or not.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm doing that in less than two weeks.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My last boss just had no people skills. I would have told him why I quit but he made it clear we were nothing to him.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's unfortunate :( sorry dude...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And that's why he was a boss and not a leader.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Questionable if even a boss... I would expect them to have some level of people skills...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My ex boss saw my leaving early to drive my gf to the hospital as a failure. He said she could have taken a taxi

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I guess that's why he's your "ex" boss, then.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well.. yes

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just make sure you can organise a job before you leave. If you rage quit your job, kiss references goodbye.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I just left a company that required one to give two weeks notice when quitting. You did and they fired you a day or two later.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Took Friday off, walked in late Monday morning, and turned in my keys. It felt GOOOOOD to quit that place.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I left a HS job in the middle of the shift because my boss told me she wouldn't let me have off for graduation

10 years ago | Likes 554 Dislikes 2

I did the same but for college!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I gave a week's notice. And it wasn't even my class graduating but I didn't care. Wanted time off.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

A week notice isnt really enough time, 2 weeks is the general rule. Even at that its always best to ask a couple of weeks in advice.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

For jobs like this - as long as the schedule isn't posted yet, you're good.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My boss was a dick to me one day even though I was working 80 hour weeks and caught the company underpaying me so I did this, so satisfying.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Also fun is listening to your old coworkers describing your old boss running around in a panic to get stuff done (that you used to do).

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Oh hell yeah, I was the only person to ever stock the coolers and now they are overflowing with stuff because they don't condense the stock.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

H8RS!!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now that's just a fucking asshole right there.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I quit a job in HS because I got scheduled for a weekend I had asked off for a month in advanced. When I told them I needed both days off...

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

...with my now deceased, at the time had cancer, uncle who loved hunting.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

...they changed the schedule so I was working both days. Quit on the spot. I needed the weekend for a hunting course so I could go hunting..

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yea, that asshole is going to extra hell w/ gasoline underwear on. Good for u!

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

I quit mine on the spot one morning after I'd closed the night before, opened that day, and the manager bitched that I was lazy.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

We called it "clopening".

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think Judge Reinhold played your character in a movie back in the 1980's.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My mom's HS boss expected her to work the day after her dad died suddenly .

10 years ago | Likes 125 Dislikes 0

0.o was she in the US? There are bereavement laws if she was... that's infuriating dude....

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

My dad died suddenly right after I graduated, and my job was willing to hold my position for 2 months

10 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

I almost left after my boss wouldn't let me have a day off after working 10 days straight. I had scheduled 2 months in advance.

10 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

That's illegal as fuck. Report them

10 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 3

At my old job they worked us 20 days in a row with 1 days off. Only reason they gave THAT to us is because a big customer threatened 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

2/2 to pull sales if they didn't give us at least one day off every 3 weeks

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I've only considered quitting my job because I get no recognition. 3 yrs saving the stores ass, always being the best and still part time

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Never even given a "thank you" when I stay for 12 hours when others don't show up. They just expect me to now a days. They know I'm pissed

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh and they offered a new guy full time (who worked for a month there) because him and the big boss are old high school friends. Ugh.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

And yeah, the new guy is shit.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I ask for the sake of trying to help- have you told them you want to be full time? Verbally and in writing?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep. They know I want it

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The easiest way to move from part time to full time, is to get hired somewhere else as full time. Start looking! But don't burn bridges. 1/

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

the best references on my resume, and are willing to write me a letter of recommendation any time I need it. At some point you just have 5/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I worked retail for ~4 years, part time all the way. Lots of "promises", but no action. I was put in charge of the department, no raise 2/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

to accept that you're not going to get what you want at a job, and start looking elsewhere. Bosses usually understand. 6/6

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

and I put my 2 weeks in. They tried to counter offer but I declined, and left gracefully. My manager and the owner are still 4/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

no benefits, and no title change. Decided I was worth more than what they were paying, found a new job making 4x, full time, benefits. 3/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm proudly in the 25%

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

lucky

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

im the 0.1%, im not the boss myself and yet i can still say boss? whats a boss? that man is virtually never here

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me too, it's absolutely priceless

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same, I don't think I've ever had a bad boss, just found better opportunities. Lucky us!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've had amazing ones and terrible ones.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Highly considering this. My boss is applying elsewhere, and I'm in line to take the spot. Only reason I'm hanging on.

10 years ago | Likes 168 Dislikes 1

Did you get that job?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope. Boss is still looking. No surprise he's still looking. But higher management is starting to take note on who's doing everything.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry to hear that! Glad management is taking an interest though. Hope they can resolve it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If not, I got about a years worth of school left until I finish my degree. Also another reason I'm hanging on.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What are you going to school for?

True, sheep want a shepherd or a wolf to keep them moving. They don't don't want one of their own, no mater how strong.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

There's a difference between being willing to make hard decisions, or having to be strict, and being an asshole. The former is acceptable.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I do not believe this. I got more Marines to listen to me by other methods than the standard being an ass. However, that is just me.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You may have to be stern from time to time, but not an asshole.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Though some people's "asshole-ometers" get triggered whenever they're asked to do their job. Always rolled eyes at coworkers like that.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not really. If you have to be an asshole, it just means you're complete shit at putting together an effective team.

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I get what your saying but, to be an effective boss, you sometimes have got to make decisions were you will piss off your workers.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just be as tactful as you can

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No you don't. If you pissed them off, that means you don't know how to relate to them, or how to explain things properly, or you're....

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...hiring shit people. In any of these scenarios that's a reflection of being a shitty boss. Can you pose a scenario where this is not true?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Firing much loved but very poor employee after multiple warnings

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just make sure you remember what they did wrong and try to look at work from your employees' perspective. Good luck!

10 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

It's what I do every time. He's not a bad boss when he's there. But that's the issue, he's in 2 or 3 days and that's it. I do all the work.

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you're already mostly the boss anyway. That should make for an easier transition :). But if they snub you, leave.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

(2/2) to take the lead spot. Plus, it'll be with AT &T directly. But, first sign of it not happening, I'm out.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's kind of the plan. I'm not bitching because it is giving me more XP than I would normally get, and positioning me well (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

id like to quit my boss. just gotta find another job where i can make comparable pay.
