There once was a girl named Marge. She had seatbelts installed in her Dodge. When her boyfriend was strapped in he couldn't commit any sin before they had even left the garage.
My mind glossed over it out of habit, so your comment also slid through my mind at first. But then as I went to swipe to the next post, I glanced up and saw his mistake so I had to swipe back to upvote you
As a fairly short person that lives close to the steering wheel when driving, it surprisingly did not kill me or maim me when my car crashed and flipped a few times. The car was of course totaled, but my seatbelt was my literal lifesaver.
Or maybe that person is short AF and can't reach the pedals without having to be that close to the steering wheel. (Just saying from experience i'm 4' 11")
My sister is the same size and she taught me to have the arms as stretched out as possible, no folding that would be fatal. So while the bottom might be closer to the pedals than usual, your top of the seat should be leaned back. This posture improved my handling of the car a lot.
just a heads up. most steering wheels in cars can be adjusted just like seats. They can move in and out and up and down. It helped my gf who is 5' 2". Shes still a terrible driver but that's another problem lol
Are you at least 10 inches away from the airbag? Maybe get some extended foot pedals? Otherwise the airbag is going to deploy into your face at high speed, posing high risk of "serious injury or death".
I literally lost my shit at this comment. If I were drinking milk, my phone would be wearing it. I get you, friend. Cheers to dentures being highly improved by technology before that day catches up to us!
4'11" here, gave up driving a manual. I had to sit so close to get the clutch down it was just a matter of when I'd be taken out by the airbag... and seeing over the bonnet is a fantasy like winning the lottery.
I think we're talking about people who practically hug the steering wheel, with their elbows at their sides. Even if you have short arms and legs, I would think you can tip your seat back so your arms are outstretched. I'm only 5'3" and my arms are outstretched so I can maneuver easily.
bhhorner350
If he would just put his seat against the dash like she did, he wouldn’t need a seatbelt or 9
GemsAreOutrageousTrulyTrulyTrulyOutrageous
I have to assume that she's seriously short because otherwise why the fuck is her chair tilted so far forward??
KlumsyNinja
Why do people see a video and recreate it the exact same way? Where is the originality? Where's the shame in blatant plagiarism?
CaptainDashQuinlan
Some say she's still glaring, to this day.

She turns on the radio. *Euro beats intensifies*

Is she close enough to that steering wheel?
medimr
I see some red flags in this video.
NoxiousRed
Those last two are are what I like to call the polyester guillotine
ItsACrazyWorld
Should have put a helmet on as the last part. But unfor that many seatbelts would prob end killing him or making him very crippled.
agreeablebug69
The problem is, now he’s stuck in there while she smacks him

Don't know, but I dig the arm rest

Plenty of over cautious really bad drivers. Hence, all those seat belts.

It's always a little concerning when they put the steering wheel 4 inches from their chest.

That's so if he manages to reach an arm out of the web of chastity he still can't cop a feel.

"my car crashed and flipped a few times" I think their concern was more about that part.
LadyNetrex
It should be at arms's length, wrists on top of thr wheel. Looks right to me https://youtu.be/kwBCqQRILIQ
LadyNetrex
To be fair, the video had looped when I read thr comment and she wasn't as close then as later in the video :P

Yep, airbag would probably kill her

This happened to a Ryerson University professor, who was a short woman.

It's best when they decorate the middle of the steering wheel with little trinkets, turning it into a claymore.
SlightlyMoreAppropriateUsername
Ya I was about to say I don't trust anyone who drives that close to the wheel. They either have no confidence or terrible reaction timing

reaction time doesn't matter if the length of your forearm literally blocks your ability to fully control the steering wheel

That's a fair point. I'm 6'2" and don't see the struggles bellow my line of sight

Exactly.
spaghettiThunderbolt
Pedal extenders, they very well may save your life in the event of a collision.
Krzyf
I am 5’1 with short arms and legs. I’ve made my peace with god that I’m gonna eat the steering wheel at some point in my life.

Hey, you're the same height as my s.o. She also sits very close to the steering wheel. I'm just happy that she is a very careful driver.

But how else will I see the mirrors correctly or out my damn windshield? My sternum is one with the wheel.
gemaeuer
your arms should not be outstreched but bent, even when you grab the top side of the wheel.
youbetchamom
Obviously.
Bowchickameowmeoww
With your hand extended, the top of steering wheel should touch the bottom of your wrist. That is the perfect positioning
