perhaps this is the post-orgy relaxation

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hold on, I thought horses slept standing up?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

horses lie down every once in a while and have one pack mate keep watch for predators! sort of the equine equivalent of a designated driver

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"it doesn't pay to turn up late to an orgy"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you, Mr. Hands.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Those horses look like they don't give a rat's ass. Like, seriously. Not even a little.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So cute

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Am I the only one who thinks it's cute when they're pudgy and their legs don't touch when they lay down?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love seeing comments like this. They’re funny to me. I always figure it’s something like autocorrect or English isn’t their first language

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I find the lack of 'flare in this post disturbing oAo

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are those the horses from Horsing Around?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

There was only one Horse in horsing around. His name was "The Horse".

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No, that was a Labrador Retriever.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That was the better tv show Mr.Peanutbutter’s House

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is the floor covered with Horsenip?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Is it ok that they are all like on the ground like that? Is there something wrong with them?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They're actually in deep sleep! Horses can't sleep lying down for long when they're adults but when they do it means they feel very safe.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Alright, I feel much better. This is a picture of happy, safe horses. thanks

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Horses can sleep standing up or lying down. During the day you mostly see the standing up.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So they are just being lazy? Like big hard footed cats?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Lol yeah. Horses are like giant dogs that do flight instead of fight. They're silly, have their own personalities.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looks like they just want to be in a stable relationship.

8 years ago | Likes 232 Dislikes 15

Looks like 200+ people didn’t either.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just wants a mane chick, a ride or die.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Could I get a source on that?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't think horses were supposed to lie Down like that

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 4

No they can, its just they are usually not relaxed around people to feel safe enough to do it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They sleep like this for the REM cycle lasts about an hour. My horse usually did this around 2 pm when the sun was warmest.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Can confirm but babies lay down and sleep longer. It’s cute though.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Horses need 1-2 hours of REM sleep every 48 hours or so. That's when they lie down. Otherwise, they 'doze' standing up.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

40+ years ago lying flat like that was a sign of sickness. Colic. My horse slept more curled up, not flat. One time he did was colic. Scary!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought horses would sleep standing

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

They can. Depends on personality

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They do

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They can, but it's not necessary. I think that if they feel safe, they will lie down.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My neighbor got a horse that would lay down to sleep, and taught his other horses to lay down to sleep. They dony shit all over stall anymor

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

it was probably just nice and warm and they felt safe enough to sleep at the same time/in the same area.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Horses need to lay down to get REM sleep (1-2 hours usually) and nap standing. They also aren't observational learners so-

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had no idea they weren't observational learners. It never occurred to me some domestic animals might not be. Interesting!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ruby, have you spent time with horses, watching them interact with each other & people? They totally learn by observation!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they're herd animals, so I'm not sure I agree with the "non observational learning", would like to read your source please

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends on what you consider observational learning and instinct. Horses don't learn to crib from other horses and they won't learn that-

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are these your horses @op?

8 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 1

no, I recognise them from the video "Horses snoring and farting peacefully" on youtube. Don't ask how I know this.

8 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Sometimes they wait for u yo walk by

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well yeah, OP loosened them all up with his elbow.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Horses have a gigantic colon to break up the grass with bacteria, hence they fart like world champions

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funny life event for ya. My brother and I were feeding horses when we were kids and one horse was going feral bucking and carrying on /1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because he was excited about getting feed, my brother puts the feed bucket down, turns around and the horse is galloping away, bucks /2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And farts at the same time and in doing so shartted and the poop landed on his face. Funny for me but not so much for him. Good times

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I guess better horse sharts then cow sharts

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah true lol
