Horses run about 35 mph. I feel awful that's someone's pet that broke loose

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just go to the side horsey!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looks like a runaway seeing that its bridle is still on. Doubt this one is gonna run away again any time soon!

6 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

Same exact thoughts from me

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

it looks more like a halter. looks like the horse was tied up somewhere and broke away

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would you leave your horse in a pasture on a train track?

@ElbowDeepInAHorse

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Run Forest, run forest!!!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but if that train had been going 120k/~72mph, that horse would be chunky salsa. Definitely not at top speed.

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Wtf is a k? km/h? (Japanese also says kilo to just about anything, and I hate it…)

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I am from Europe never heard K referred to Km/h in my life as without stating the unit it would mean 120.000-130.000

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Everyone says kilo to everything. It's the global measurement.

God horses are dumb.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

*people

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Horses are most assuredly NOT dumb. They talk to each other. Maybe it was waiting for the fence to end before moving over.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

OK. "Not dumb" looks like running off of the track instead of down the track.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It most certainly aims for the open grass field, giving itself best chance to run as fast as possible. Very smart if it was a predator. 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If it ran to the fence it would be a death sentence if it ran from a predator. It took Easiest to run path towards the grass field. 2/2

This fucker wrote the promethus script.

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

How many horse power against one. Not fair.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The horse probably has a better power to weight ratio. Not much of an advantage against so fast going train tho.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Modern diesel-electric locomotives can have about 6,000 horsepower per engine.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Horses have like 14 horsepower at peak though.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Correct, because one horse power is what you can expect out of a horse over a sustained span of time.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@ElbowDeepInAHorse another one for the collection

My dad was a train engineer. They hit a lot of wild animals in WY.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I wish for underpasses to help animals and not affect the train i mean we have train bridges . Just make then smaller and for animals

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

actually they have found over passes work better. animals are scared of being trapped in on 2 sides. but the overpasses they put soil on 1

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so it's more like crossing a hill for them. no side guards but i guess they do ok 2

OP is here. A friend sent it to me. He works as a machinist on trains. He says these model of trains can speed between 120-130 km / h.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 8

Here it slows down to about 30 kph

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the stopping distance on that train if the operator sees a warning?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It depends on how fast it goes. My friend said a train needed a min. 2 minutes to stop when it was full loaded. Even if it wants to stop it.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

An average passenger train would stop between 1 and 2 Km so if you see the horse it is late already.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what I figured, but I wanted a more exact number.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's definitely not moving anywhere near that speed though.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Most definitely not.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Certainly most definitely not.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Absolutely certainly most definately not.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Quite

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Horse: OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT!

6 years ago | Likes 1272 Dislikes 2

You forgot the "ow" somewhere in there.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh SHIT

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then the horse and I were thinking the same thing.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Train:AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHhHHHHHHH!!!

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If you look closely, that horse took the first realistic exit from the track.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

so i heard "Shut the fuck up" can be a virtue. How about "Get the fuck out of the way"? can that be one too?

He knew what he was doing. That was the initiation to a horse gang.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People “gotta get myself on track”. Horse “gotta get myself off track”.

6 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

"Why is it chasing me!?" -horse, probably

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He said a train needed a min. 2 minutes to stop when it was full loaded. It wouldn't change anything if there was a human or an animal there.

6 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 5

Is your friend turkish?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then I heard right :)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So that scene in breaking bad is inaccurate?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No. Stopping distances depend on train weight and speed. Light & slow trains can stop quicker than fast & heavy trains.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They have to slow down a mile before they stop

Yeah when I worked at a gravel pit I'd have to pull railcars from door to door to unload. Still doesn't stop on a dime tho

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That was only with 25 fully loaded railcars tho.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The horse is aiming for the grass field. If it was a predator that could turn it would be a death sentence to just run to the side 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

On one side it's a fence, other wires terrain for the horse. The instincts aims for the ground that's best for the horse. 2/x

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If it was a natural threat the instincts are actually doing smart. But instincts cant account for a danger that is locked to follow 3/4

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

A pre-determined path. So there is some intelligence behind the action, just not good in this case. 4/4

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

God that movie sucked

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Did it ever! Ii was so disappointed at the theater

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I liked it. Don't hate me.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What movie?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
