That's a real 'murican hero right there!
MyNameIsDuncan
Fucking train hard, lift weights, stack bodies, drink beer rinse and repeat. Rah
KrondorMocker
YO!?? ... WHY AIN'T THE VIDEO PLAYING???
Rinsie
Only in America! In any other country the 'good samaritan' would be in big trouble, despite his presumably good intentions
thefriendlyasshole12
But guns in the hands of competent people is dangerous. Ban them all!
wwilberforce
A passerby saw the fight unfolding and stopped to render aid to the trooper, who asked for help. "I say there, would you assist me?"
AbuMKatt
That's how it went in my head
StuPuff
I'm just going to go out on a limb, consult past events and say.... the suspect was black.
jedi888
I'm finally proud to say I'm from and live in Az
TheGreatAnhey
This would never happen in California unfortunately
charliegrs
It's going to take a lot more than this for me to like this state but it's a start
CluelessAmerican
nirach
America! Coming together by blowing each other apart.
SFCrawNik
America is past the point of gun control, we need more guns to keep everyone in check at this point.
barnwolf
It was one of the reasons the US revolted in the first place. Not like it's a new thing.
treknor
yeah shoot each other .. \o/ .. so Germany can get more raum in the west!
Dmaneyes74
America! Coming together, weeding out the scum. Love it!
lowersmark
Now on to the government
TheIndianVirgin
Ok this is the best Gif I have ever seen.
RamsesMCMXCI
LowlevelRebel
In Canada the Samaritan would have been charged with murder, imprisoned, and never have been able to own firearms again.
barnwolf
Being imprisoned and charged with murder is not the same as being convicted. That the death is investigated seriously isn't a bad thing IMO
LeelooDallasSupremeBeing

CaptainFellatio
Those Samaritans are always tooled up.
masterofmuppets13
Gun toting Samaritans kickin ass.
Monowas
(dumb voice) the video won't play
unwittinglyrad
What happens to the Good Samaritan by law in this situation? From Australia, we don't know what guns are.
ShouTuckersGhost
What he did was 100% legal. In fact, he might be rewarded in some way
GooberSnotpants
almost certainly in the clear
MagChem
Depends on state law as crazy as that sounds. Many states have the "make my day" law that authorizes lethal force in a variety of situations
FreebasedDingus
Never heard it called a "make my day" law. I chuckled heartily.
Natsumori
Az has great policies when it comes to weapons. He's being heralded here as a hero, which he is.
RPeggio
Arizona may allow concealed carry, I'm not sure, but definitely open carry. Deadly force ok to protect self or others in mortal danger.
cogs
AZ is a constitutional carry state. All carry is legal, no permit required.
charliegrs
You can pretty much buy a gun from a vending machine here
barnwolf
I believe in most places lethal force is allowed if you believe someones life is in danger.
barnwolf
Of course the trick is their life has to reasonable be in immediate danger. If the jury can be convinced otherwise then it's just murder.
temotodochi
Elsewhere in the world killing someone is never ok. "Use of excessive force" has jailed many, cops included.
ImScruffyImTheJanitor
Arizona is one of, if the the most gun friendly state for laws (sorry Texas). The Samaritan is already getting thanks from the DPS Colonel.
OneZebraInAHerdOfWildebeests
I rank Montana as the #1 friendliest but only from what I get from TV. I don't get out much.
ImScruffyImTheJanitor
I very highly doubt he'll get in any trouble unless they find he owns the gun illegally or something.
Freakayou
Even if it was, he saved one of their own, dude won't be getting so much as a parking ticket for next 20 years.
AGiantTransWoman
Oregon seems pretty good about em too.
ImScruffyImTheJanitor
Many states are, I just think in general when it comes to gun friendliness most people think Arizona.
PotassiumLover
Was the cop ok?
Natsumori
He was shot in the shoulder and the assailant was bashing his head into the pavement, but he's stable now. Good Samaritan most certainly>
Natsumori
saved his life. Officer couldn't defend himself or pull his firearm b/c it was his dominant shoulder that was shot.
ImScruffyImTheJanitor
As Shou said, he's stable. Unfortunately the woman who had the accident that the cop was there to help in the first place died.
Natsumori
Scumbag assailant. Last I heard she was still living, but I hadn't checked back since this morning
ShouTuckersGhost
He's in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery
octataral
Or you know better gun control the cop wouldn't have been shot in the first place. Sorry for the logic
kamosey
Dude, the US elected Trump. Logic is not popular over here.
Bropez
"Sorry for the logic." https://imgur.com/9Vqlxz7
munsdumbart
Increased gun control only disarms law abiding citizens. "Sorry for the logic."
ozington
Indeed! Then when someone has road rage they can pull their legal gun out and shoot the car in front killing a 3 year old child! Woo!
octataral
That's why the US has an order of magnitude more murders than any other westerner developed country
dangeroushorses
The US has an order of magnitude more citizens as well, and isn't run the same way. Apples and oranges.
octataral
1- I was talking statistically 2- "isn't run the same way" exactly gun control is too lax leading to more murder. EXACTLY THE POINT
SlightlyAngryAtAllTimes
I really like the term 'Good Samaritan' as opposed to 'Hero,' it's a lot less uncomfortable for the person being praised
WineyMacScotty
I find it a bit creepy. A Good Samaritan carries your shopping or gives you a lift, murdering someone to protect you is like something else.
barnwolf
Technically it's only murder if it's illegal. Just saying...
WineyMacScotty
Figured that was the case, I'm from a country where only farmers have guns.
barnwolf
Ah, in the US it's generally legal as long as it's reasonably in defense of yourself or another in imminent danger.
barnwolf
So shooting someone in the back as they run away after killing a cop, probably not OK.
aCheekyFingerUpTheBum
I'm not criticisising the action of the guy who killed the shooter. But is Good Samaritan really the appropriate description?
notme222
Somewhat relevant Mitchell & Webb sketch: https://youtu.be/OIVB3DdRgqU
mikeatike
Fairly decent Samaritan.
TylerLee
The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. Sorry babe. Thems the breaks.
AlmostScientist
kinda? killing is bad, but like, he may have saved the officer's life.
LeelooDallasSupremeBeing
DID save his life
BlackOpalGalaxy
Jesus wasn't big on killing to protect his own life.... Muhammed would approve though.
Soukey
I was going to ask the same question. Maybe we've been reading the parable of the Good Samaritan wrong all these years.
ThePerfectCommentDoesntexi
I don't know I think it was something like Jesus's donkey broke down, some people tried to rob him, then the Good Samaritan shot them. No?
FatThor89
Yes
Natsumori
He stopped to help when others passed the officer by or froze. Attack happened on a busy road. Good Samaritan and a hero.
Greymalum
He tried to help, bad guy had a gun. I think I would fire to stop or kill if I had to protect others.
LeelooDallasSupremeBeing
No, it should be 'fucking great American smaritan'
TylerLee
The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. Sorry babe. Thems the breaks.
LeelooDallasSupremeBeing
https://youtu.be/ftgmdRlDkko that reminded me of this
TylerLee
Wow, first time for me. "Don't worry, he'll be back" got me lol.
OutrageousHemmorhoid
I agree that Armed Passerby, Courageous Citizen, Civilian with a Registered Firearm in his Car etc would be better...
OutrageousHemmorhoid
...the point being it is more bravery than charity. He didn't lend the trooper some ammo, or given him his Kevlar vest; he made a stand.
LeelooDallasSupremeBeing
redjokerzero
Yeah, Good Samaritan is completely wrong for this situation
ThePerfectCommentDoesntexi
I know! He was American, fucking liberals giving all the credit to Samaria... Never even heard of that place!!
petey3185
WTF kind of a question is that? Of course he is!
OutrageousHemmorhoid
I think you are misinterpreting his comment. He displayed courage and honour, not just charity (as the Samaritan did).
Apeofdeath
Bullets of charity, give till it hurts
