Our pediatrician's office has a bunch of negative google reviews from around covid times because they make patients follow the recommended vaccine schedule. I take it as confirmation that they're doing things right.
She should stop telling people to take Tylenol and start telling them to take "Acetaminophen" (pronounced correctly, as many intelligent people can do.) I wonder how many patients would accept that.
I recently posted about an OBGYN nurse telling me that they already had a patient that came n saying she didn't want any aceta..acetone..anemone... Tylenol because she didn't want her child to get autism. As stupid as RFK is and as much as it is pointed out that he is stupid he still has a baffling influence.
I was gonna say, if it wasn't the stupid Tylenol thing, they were more than likely going to leave sooner rather than later, anyway. If anything, it's more surprising it hadn't happened sooner.
Not saying this didn't happen, but I have 6 kids and in 0 cases were pediatricians giving my wife medical advice and our first pediatrician appt was always at the hospital once the kid was born. She got all her medical advice 1from her OB/GYN. So also I am sorta saying this never happened.
I’m saying this didn’t happen because of that. Why would pregnant people be seeking pediatrician advice when they’re only seeing their OB while pregnant? There’s no pediatrics to be done until there’s a baby present. I’m sure this has happened but it would be happening at an OB/GYN clinic not a pediatrician’s office.
I have children in my family with medical degrees, and a couple of them believe some of the stupidest shit imaginable. Even college graduates are not immune to being scammed by con artist assholes. The average person has no hope of knowing what's good advice and what isn't. Critical thinking has been destroyed by decades of an abysmally poor education system.
It's not just this administration. For decades Republicans have sought to destroy education in the US because they know an educated electorate is their biggest opponent.
I am sorry you had to go through that. I knew a couple of people who'd gotten burned out on it too. On top of that, Trump fucking up the PPE distribution and then going on this "vaccinations are optional" bullshit. VACCINATION PROGRAMS NEED COMPLIANCE. The whole point of vaccinating everyone is to stop the spread of infection. Optional? That's working against the program. "Buuht, muh freedumbs!" ~ All MAGA
Probably because the only image in their heads is a completely non-verbal with extreme sensory overload issues who isn't getting the care and treatment they need
Don't forget about Dr. Quack on his other side. I knew Dr. Oz was a scam from day one, and I could tell by the stuff I gleaned from my dad when getting his nursing degree.
I have to focus my efforts on things that I can control. Trying to control other people's lives to protect a fetus is right wing ideology, and I won't do that. People have the right to make bad decisions. It may be regrettable, but I don't have the right to tell another person what to do with their medical decisions.
Obviously I wouldn't make a pregnant woman take any medication. I'm just saying it really sucks that they are being lied to because it's going to hurt their babies. Luckily doctors seem to be not following the president's lead.
Darwinism and survival of the fittest is a thing, you know. If they self-select themselves for misery, I wouldn't stand in their way. (Yes - it sucks that babies will no longer get herd immunity, but that means smart parents will just have to find a way to protect them.)
Oh my sweet summer child, we're still dealing with the fallout from reagan's administration. This is so much worse. I don't believe we'll ever fully recover from this. It's like the fall of rome where Italy may be okay now but they're a shadow of what they were back in the ancient days.
All Drumpf is doing is revealing to you your indoctrinated delusions. america was never great. Empty, self obsessed and Empty headed rhetoric will never mean greatness, because anyone who must go around spouting about their own greatness will only ever be a flawed moron. Should you ever wish to confront reality honestly then make an attempt to study history, and not in the expurgated editions meant to lie to school children and church goers.
European here. If you were born anytime from 1910 to 1950, all other things being equal, your best bet was to be born in the US.
Of course we can imagine lots of other criteria for "greatness", but median economic and health outcomes important and measurable.
In the space of 30 years and 2 world wars, something like 70% of the world's total capital found it's way to the US. There was a few decades there where a welder who had the good fortune to be american could capture a decent slice of it.
We are dealing with the fallout of rising fascism that has been happening since Kennedy was assassinated. And the rising oligarchy. And yes we are in a decline that few of us will see the eventual upturn and no one will see us return to the pinnacle of our power and influence. Probably for the better, the powers that be will learn they have to cater to the proletariat. I want voting mandated and a large fine assessed on those who choose not to vote. And I want children to be taught this happen/
-ed because people didn’t vote and didn’t keep themselves informed about current events and world politics. Yes WWI &WWII started in Europe, but we ended up with Americans dying over there, and it will happen this time too.
That was for the people who follow poor advice. I’m not as empathetic as I once was to those who choose to follow idols rather than use critical thinking and science.
On a similar note, to this day people believe MSG causes cancer. You know the only place in the world that puts a warning label on MSG for the possibility of causing cancer? California. A place that apparently literally puts similar warnings on parking garages.
Because of just the damage done in less than a year. I'm terrified of what the next generation of children being born now will be like. And the real terrifying bit is there's still over 3 years to go. At least I hope it's 3-ish years.
Hope as in "I hope that it is no longer than three years"; I doubt they'd turn down an impeachment, removal from office, and stripping of everyone in line who has an (R) after their name because not one of these shitlords can be trusted to run a McDonalds much less the government, but they'll settle for "we get him out and can rebuild the democracy later"
I think it should be noted that the fraud & disgraced ex-doctor Andrew Wakefield's study, which was paid for by a lawyer with the explicit goal of finding a loophole to sue the producer of the MMR vac, who was also peddling his own version of the measles vaccine and was not anti-vax just fraudulently anti-MMR, was not the founder of the autism-vaccine anti-vax movement, he just popularized it. His horrific study, which abused autistic children to fake his results, 1/2
was only made possible by a pre-existing group of anti-vaccine moms who volunteered for the study so that he'd have patients he could trust to give the answers he wanted. Wakefield is a monster in his own right, but the movement did actually exist before him. 2/2
Eh, when the details take it from "this anti-science study made people doubt vaccines for someone's profit and cruelty" to "...by the eager abuse of a marginalized people being handed over for the study by people they trust", I think knowing there's evil more evil behind it is worthwhile.
