I'm very happy I didn't know about her "new" book.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Her books shouldn't be in the top 1,000.

Fucking cunt

I mean...she will cry herself to sleep on her millions of $$...I guess?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Who? She could never hope to be as good as Hatsune Miku, creator of Harry Potter.

Who replaced her as the top author by volume in the UK?

I just launched a zombie apocalypse book and I certainly will have this in common with her! Hahaha....oh...

Sad - so sad, hahahaha.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Funny thing was, I never knew that she was even writing anything last year, shows how much her hate overshadowed any publicity towards her writings.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

She wasn't writing, some dude named Robert Galbraith was.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well, I guess spewing hate and bigotry aren’t good sales promotion strategies.l

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Who beat her in becoming the top author by volume?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Julia Donaldson - The Gruffalo

I wish that she snapped out of her transphobic views. Get help for her own traumas. Issue some apologies. If that isn't possible I wish that she would become unable to harm others.

there's as much chance of this happening as Graham Linehan reconnecting with his family and rebuilding his career

"Actually it's a complete co-incidence" said Rowling in a statement before sucking on a huge cigar, sipping from a cocktail, cackling, and then sailing off on her superyacht.

Writing under the name Robert sounds like gender affirming care….

She’s her own worst enemy.

why is she using a man's name again. Even with the JK name she claimed she used it because boys would not read it if her name was on the books. The only good thing she did was the rides and the new Monsters Unchained ride proves they would still be great without the Harry Potter brand.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why is she so obsessed? From what I know she isnt even religious. Christians were burning her books. Does she just want a cookie for saying Dumbledore was gay after all the books were out?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have no understanding of this bitch. She's got the 'money disease' is the closest I can come to explaining her fukken rabid crazy.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess she forgot to buy enough copies. Look for that New York Times bestseller list dagger icon. †

2 months ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 2

The list just a tally of who sold more books, it has always been a marketing toll and is sometimes political

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This is what republicans do. They come out with a book and then use campaign funds to buy tons of copies of it to get it on best sellers lists then write it off their taxes after giving them to schools.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What does the icon mean?

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's used to signify "Bulk purchases" which was often a way to artificially boost a book by buying a ton of them. Something we noticed a lot with very conservative writers. And others, but it became pretty blatant.

2 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

It should be made clear: the conservative writers who were also political candidates often would purchase those books with campaign funds. https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/04/07/sen-ted-cruz-illegally-promoted-his-book-with-campaign-funds-watchdog-alleges-in-ethics-complaints.html

An old Newt Gingrich tactic. Though he mostly did it to use charity money and funnel it into his private pockets.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

She wrote a new book? 😂😂 But she’s no longer relevant and everyone hates her for being a hateful piece of shit

2 months ago | Likes 119 Dislikes 3

She had written a few others, i think she writes like.. romance/mystery or something. They're bad. But then, if you don't read harry potter when you're nine, they are kinda bad as well. The worldbuilding is shallow and the plot holes are numerous, but kids loved them because it tapped into their imagination. She got WILDLY lucky.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even huge pieces of shit like her still have fans and followers. Some unaware of her being an awful person, some not caring.

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Hence the pseudonym

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I always disliked Harry Potter since 7th grade when I was a vampire but everyone thought I was Harry Potter. I am white, had a mushroom haircut, brown hair and large glasses. In retrospect I see the confusion.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Hot take: her writing was always mediocre at best. The movies were better than the books. And anything that wasn't the main HP series was progressively-worse trash.

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

I always thought it was bad writing but the books were safe and present. Too bad she turned out to be neither

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So many plot holes that the fans think were planned that way.. No. shes a YA author. World building is not necessary in those books.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think even the movies would be forgotten in favor of Avatar The Last Airbender had it not been for the massive themed lands in Orlando. Imagine if Universal had instead made the lands based on Avatar instead.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'll counter that opinion with mine: even when she was still loved and the books were still being written I always felt that she was a poor writer but an excellent storyteller. Great winding plots and buildups and double-crosses but it only fit for children's books because children would forgive her poor writing skills. I haven't read her detective stories but I'd be adults would pass on them because of her style. And the movies are all hot garbage.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was smack in the middle of the target demo when they came out, like same age as the main characters even. I got just as into them as everyone else at the time, but I tried rereading them in my early 20s and just found them really boring. And it's not cause I wasn't a kid anymore, I reread the whole Animorphs series in my 30s and that shit is still captivating as hell.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Her detective series is dogshit. Even worse because she can’t hide the storytelling behind a wall of sparkling mcguffins

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't mind me, i'm just here to steal "sparkling mcguffins"

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be clear, I loved all the original Harry Potter novels. I own them all, waaaaaay long ago I purchased an extra set for my son's school library, I've read them all multiple times, enjoyed the fandom and despite everything she's become I still like the Universal and Disney theme parks. But that's the line for me. My wife bought me The Tales of Beetle the Bard and I never finished it. Something about HP and HP alone really was magical. At the time. And JK is Umbridging all of it.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My daughter is trans and still enjoys the stories. She thinks Rowling would hate it, so she writes glowing fan mail. Actual letters. “Hey, I know you hate me and want my people dead but I think it’s just something you know you took too far but you think it’s too late to be forgiven, just wanted to say that I love Dobby”

Shit like that

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

lol she has to write under a different name because everyone fucking hates her for being a fucking hateful piece of garbage

2 months ago | Likes 390 Dislikes 9

Wait, so she's now identifying as something other than what was assigned at birth? Go figure.

After learning who and what she’s about, I refuse to support anything HP. Besides, she ripped off half the story and the characters from 1986 cult classic movie “Troll”. I’ll never understand how some people can get so rich from ripping off other peoples ideas.

She used Galbraith since around 2012 so that's probably not why.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Actually, Stephen King never fully found out, because the identity of the Richard Bachman pseudonym was revealed before it became independently successful. The Bachman books didn't sell that well, and King thought the upcoming novel Misery would've been Bachman's breakout hit, but a journalist revealed the connection, and Bachman's books' sales exploded overnight.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She used the Galbraith pen name well before she came out as so bigoted and hateful. It was originally a way to keep it completely separated from the Harry Potter series. Although it is curious she still has to publish under a masculine name.

2 months ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

In the past male writers got better contracts and attention for their books. Though these days women seem to be taking over in general.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

In hindsight, her using the pen name of a man known for using electroshock in gay conversion therapy should have been a red flag.

2 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

It *was* an early sign of the kind of person she ended up being: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Galbraith_Heath It's the name of the guy who came up with conversion therapy.

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Not just separated from HP. She wanted to prove that she could hack it as a "serious" writer, which is why she is writing adult fiction now. It's seen as a much more difficult genre to get into than YA lit. But before critics figured out the new pseudonym, the book got lukewarm reviews anyway. She's a hateful loser and her books are (critically-proven) trash.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She writes as a man because she has always wanted to be a man. That's why she hates trans people.

2 months ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 3

And the black mold in her house made her lose empathy, double down on being a woman and hate trans people.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are not mentioning the black mold clearly growing in her home?

So not only is this a dogshit argument but you yourself are also transphobic. Trans women are women. Womens rights includes trans womens rights. Saying that trans women existing and being treated fairly "tramples womens rights" is transphobic.

how much of a fucking snowflake do you have to be to think that a trans woman wearing a dress and being treated as a woman "tramples cis women's rights". Like how is it conservatives are so offended and obsessed by girl cock? Is that all you jack off to?

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Your definition of "existing and treated fairly" seems to include entering whatever bathroom you want, being called special pronouns and having everyone unconditionally love you. Sorry, that's not how the world works.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

lol, where are these 'men in dresses' trampling on women's rights? conservatives in power are the ones doing that. for that matter, bit of an anachronism carrying the expectation that transwomen and ciswomen be in dresses as the status quo. platformed terfs like rowling, anti-trans rhetoric and legislation, and self-appointed, grabby restroom cops overinvested in strangers' genitals, are just hurting women.

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Are you purposely being obtuse or are you just that fucking stupid?

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

makes sense when she keeps fucking doing it. want to guess what her 4th pen name will be? https://media1.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1YmVhMnZtNzVkcmdoanpmMjBuaXFvOXM1Z3IxOWN2NXZ0Y2k3ZG8xaiZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/811UlZOU7mZQXjhVqd/200w.webp

Yeah I was trying to find the quote I read before, it was her on an older alias saying she was a Trans man and she would've transitioned if she could have. However I can't find it, so I don't know if it was scrubbed due to be proven false or what not, take it with a grain of salt or as fake info. So yeah all her pen names have all been under the guise of male names. She's a messed up individual.

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

it's worse. She said she might have tried transitioning if she was born 30 years later and described it as escaping womanhood rather than an expression of male identity. Though she did say she felt "sexless" which sounds more like she was feeling agendered. But also said she probably would have transitioned into the man her father always wanted if she had a positive and supportive community online. She basically said "If people were nicer when I was born I would have escaped womanhood"

2 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Yeah that sounds like it, do you have a source to it?

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, she is writing under a different name because the subject matter she's writing about is completely different from what she's known for.

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 46

Wrong. She uses Robert Galbraith because he abused LGBT people which is her favorite thing to do also.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Galbraith_Heath

2 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Wow that is stretch. That's what she said

the J. K. initials were meant to obscure the fact she was a woman. She always gender swaps in defense of her work.

It's because Robert Galbraith did conversion therapy and abused LGBT people like she loves to do.

just so many weird layers to this shit human. "gender advocate" that won't stand up as a woman while picking shit men to play pretend as.

3. her editor told her boys wouldn't read fantasy by a woman so she used JK to obscure the fact she was one. she has never written presenting as a woman even after her first commercial success obscuring the fact she was one. https://media4.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1cnU2eXIzOTM4YW5rZ2Fkc2ltbG9kOWZ0czIxbnRtYTljZnc5amdjdSZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/l1JMZtmpRQd2C81bO/200w.webp

to the down voters, she also released under Robert Galbraith. She had been a man across 3 pen names which makes all curious. https://media1.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1a3lsN3kweDB4aTR1eXN0bnJpdjM0ejlwMmRwNzhrb3hhOGpscXp6MyZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/LKf4i5Tvt7mE0/200w.webp

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Robert Galbraith is also the name of a dude who tried to drug gay kids into being straight through severe methods of conversion therapy. Fuck you, Rowling, you feckless sack of shit.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's something publishers make women do, not something they choose.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

at the very least it shows she pulled the ladder up behind her. "I'm the most successful woman author of modern history, I will never use my position to write as a woman in further publications to champion women"

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

benefit of the doubt to the above, there's more to it than that: ( examples to unpack: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/why-some-authors-used-pseudonyms-throughout-history-180975598/ ). and contextually speaking, rowling is still a hypocritical terf actively hurting people by using her international platform to punch down on a tiny minority (unfold: antitrans rhetoric and the resulting legislation hurts ciswomen too), so it's fair to criticise.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

without that hateful, confused baggage, she'd (or he'd, if we're talking alternate realities where rowling transitions or just prefers that pronoun) probably be largely still in the 00s in terms of public perception: hated by conservatives for writing witch books, not sniping at actors from her movies, not stabbing trans fans in the back, people non-guiltily purchasing or promoting/creating merch (hogwarts legacy!) or fanworks. of course, other stuff would still be problematic ('cho chang?').

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

she did it 2 more times even after achieving fame. At some point it is fucking odd to be a "gender advocate" while never being the gender you claim professionally. no one tells a billionaire what the fuck to do.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm not defending her, there's plenty to attack her for, but using a pseudonym isn't really one of them.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

it is when she has done it 3 times. with her stance on trans people it is fair to say she has never professional stood up as a woman because that is factual.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

afaik as others said, the second time she did it was to disconnect the books from Harry Potter. She wanted to see if it stood on its own
