Envy on a new level

Sep 21, 2017 1:44 PM

The other guy looks really depressed. Just because you've leveled up it doesn't necessarily mean you spent the points well.

Ha, restaurant jokes

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone lower lvl than you is a noob. Anyone higher lvl than you has no life.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Life is a grind

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Makes you think where you're at. You know, consciously. In the universe. Maybe it means sleepless nights for hedge fund managers? Or death?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Habitica.com!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ironic shirt is ironic.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

getting that high level means you have seen some sh*t.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that grind though..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I see you in the window there, tiny spider.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Runequest Online? Runequest Online.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's seen some shit

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Christ, that lv. 4979 must have seen some shit.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

EXP doesn't always mean good EXP. I'd be in the thousands on depression alone, got lots of EXP with that.. -_-

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was just thinking a company like Uber should totally have achievements and stuff for their drivers.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is what it feels like hopping onto an MMO and hitting the level cap for the first time. Realizing the journey has just begun.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish we could crit while doing things - make an extra pb+j or this pb+j is a higher level, it will keep you full longer

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Somehow I seem to roll all my crits making spaghetti then. How is it always enough to feed a small army?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

RP hacker

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's an app for that, isn't there? Gives you XP for doing daily chores and then you level up accordingly?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm no app developer but I can do web development. I might make such a thing

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Habitca, I love it and it was the only reason I started taking care of myself. Now I mostly adult on my own. Mostly

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Like a level 15 toon in current World of Warcraft?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Dear god toon town I almost forgot

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Even without exp bars/lvls, life can suck when you compare yourself to your peers. That's why I can't go on FB anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't get how I'm expected to be okay with everyone having things that are hopeless fantasies compared to what i will ever get. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Comparing yourself to others might make your life suck, but only because life sucks pretty damn hard anyway. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It would be interesting to see the do difference between like a child soldier in Africa and a kid from a nice suburb in the US, on one hand

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The child soldier would have more kills, but on the other hand the American kid would have completed more objectives, like learning algebra

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Skills are more important than raw stats.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(non-trivial) Achievement messages would be interesting. ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Got Married! vs. ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: 10 Kills!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Achievement Unlocked: Got Married! (-12 levels)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Never said the experiences has to be good ones

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is dude depressed cuz he threw all his money down the well?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite part is how the experienced badass looks worn down. Doing awesome things takes WORK.

8 years ago | Likes 475 Dislikes 10

Yeah, it does take work. I'm working, slowly, on getting the platinum trophy for Star Ocean 4 and MY GOD

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or maybe having 5000 xp is average.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That is why most old people look so worn down.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DoingAwesomeStuff, TakesAwayFromThe "stuff I haven't done yet". Which makes life seem more boring when there's less unique-experiences ahead

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

this is actually why time moves faster as you age

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a lot of those games, you get xp from killing enemies. That's a lot of PTSD.

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

And quest completion, exploration exp bonus. Could theoretically play to a high level with 0 kills

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Exp from hardship? Probably a homeless vet, suicidal from ptsd. Now I'm sad.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Now I'm sad

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

that, or he's a Lvl 4979 underwater basket weaver

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also that doing a lot of stuff does not always equate to happiness

8 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 1

e.g. Robin Williams

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Still makes me sad to think about that...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He said he was only happy when he was making other people happy, so for robin, the thing that made him happy was staying busy

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

He would get depressed when he wasnt performing

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Also e.g. Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

His experience must have involved midget strippers, looks soo disappointed....

8 years ago | Likes 1288 Dislikes 9

Hey man, midgets need love too

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

you can stack them up for double the fun

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, we need experience in categories. I suck at one thing, but I'm a darn fine... um... well I... I pay my bills on time.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's the look of a man who's had to kill. A lot

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey don't talk shit about Bridget, she's a hardworking woman.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I suppose they weren't a big disappintment though.

What's wrong with midget strippers? I got to motor boat Bridget the midget once! It was awesome!!

8 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 1

If that's what it takes to be 4797 I don't wanna be 4797

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

I think you're dyslexic man

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Your math is off...

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

That's not "off" maths, that's dyslexia maths

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

So, off

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Too real when it comes to gaming. 10k+ hrs in ofp/arma. I enjoy watching it, but I get too frustrated playing it nowadays. Expect too much.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Same with For Honor, it was great in the beta and season one but now its all ledge kills and 3v1's no one wants a good fight anymore

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I agree, but even in the Beta there were assholes who would rather ruin your fun than have a fun game for everyone.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

EVE online from 2007. This might be the year I logged in for the last time.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

main from 2009, alt from 2012. I kept playing on and off until mid 2014, but I'm just a carebear doing L4s and mining every now and then :)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never found a game like it though. Been out of Eve for 3 years and I still think about it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best damn times! Made good friends, some lovely enemies and had drunken fleets that I couldn't remember the day after. o7

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wish this happens with learning a new skill though. I want to try and learn guitar but lack the patience to practise without seein any 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 123 Dislikes 1

Make a list and learn easy songs that you like, keep adding to that list, try one that is a bit harder, add to the list, repeat.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried Rocksmith?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sorry guys i may have confused you. I dont have any idea how to play guitar and dont own one either. I would just like to learn how to play

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm going to write the notes on the frets of my guitar so I remember which is which.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope it's not an expensive guitar haha

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually, it is a Stratocaster lol (Fender Squier Standard Stratocaster). It's just not the really good one.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fender Squier, $280. It's good, but it's no Stratocaster. There's no loss in writing on it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Squier's are great beginners guitars though. Good luck in your playing! Keep at it and you'll love it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rocksmith https://youtu.be/JDQ_U3lukAQ Its even on Steam

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

hmmm that is far too "commercially" but i'm gonna check out other reviews since i'm learning guitar too atm

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rocksmith 2014 is love

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd estimate we're about 15-25 years from reliable, automatic, meaningful XP trackers for supporting motivation. 5-10 years for basic ones.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The basic ones will focus entirely on physical activity where they work well enough. The rest relies on AI perception/concept improvements.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ain't getting a diploma that in basic?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Getting a diploma is not automatic based on actual content mastery or immediate performance.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Won't this be either. Our skills are not exact, but float. They decay, at some age (and health issues) even if used.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Video tape yourself playing a song. Then record and compare after hours practiced

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Did the sams with masturbation.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually, you should record and compare the day after. Most of the actual gain comes overnight, when the experiences are processed.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

You've probably noticed it before, struggling with something all day and getting nowhere. Sleep. Next day, solve problem instantly.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Your totally right. It'll be even more dramatic if they wait even days too.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Significant progress

8 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

It's hard, but you've gotta practice with disinterest in being 'good'. If you can practice a lot without thinking about it, you'll get good.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stick with it. I tried learning several times before I finally made my up mind to stick with it. Been playing for 3 years now

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would advise you to change the way you practice, and try to have fun with your guitar above all. Then it won't be about patience anymore.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But if there was a progress bar, that would imply there's a Limit to what you can accomplish.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Film yourself practicing every two weeks. Then compare your most recent practice to your first video, you'll see the difference clear as day

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1 https://www.andyguitar.co.uk/online-lessons/day-1-10-day-guitar-starter-course/ i've done these and they are amazing and free. By day 5

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 it sounds like actual music and it takes about 1hour a day if you want to seriously try, which for 10 days shouldn't be too hard

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Join/start a band! You can do it!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I may have made it sound like i have guitar experience. I have no idea whatsoever how to play one. I dont own one either

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha. Well, if you get hold of one a d want some pointers, let me know.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok cool

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Follow guitar lessons with a real person, not online

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Nah, it depends on your learning style. Some learn through extrapolation by mimicry and pausing and rewinding is an invaluable tool for that

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

More expensive though isnt it?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

You can't have a pony

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

So is a good meal vs mcdonalds. Doing things of substance cost money. Its a skill easy to learn, impossible to master, but its soo worth it.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I dont have any money though

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Try learning a song that you really love. It might seem too hard and take some time but once you know you can do it, you keep coming back

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Taught myself to play bohemian rhapsody on the piano as my first song. Way above my skill but once I knew it I felt I could learn any song.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, Youtube is the best substitute for an in-person teacher. Took guitar in person and wasn't into it but learned piano online and love it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Accurate. My first guitar solo was Stairway to Heaven. Crazy hard at the time, took me a month to learn it with an hour of practice a day,

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but once I had it down, I felt on top of the world.
