I read this as two separate alarms both for 3am...

The line between genius and insanity is a very fine line indeed.

I like 3am. It means the dashboards update and I can finish my nightly reports, which is basically taking screen shots of the expensive dashboards the company developed a few years ago and pasting those screen shots into an email that I send off to several levels of bosses.

I worked with a person who would use that early alarm trick. He endorsed it.

Honest to god this is what i do some times and it actually seems to work consistently.... i'll set an alarm for 2 or 3 hours before i actually want to wake up.. i'll just barely wake up enough to shut the alarm off then go back to sleep. i find i get more rest in those 2 or 3 hours than i did all night long. even an hour before i want to wake up still helps.

2 to 3 hours is a normal REM cycle. Research has found that waking up between cycles is optimal

Neat! of course now that i say that i wake up today feeling like i never got a change to reach the REM cycle. ugh so tired !

IIRC sleep “experts” suggest not to look at the time if you wake up. Most people start calculating how much time they have left which wakes their brain up and makes it harder to get back to sleep

Sleep experts also suggest quitting your job entirely and not setting an alarm at all. Wake with the sun. Move to the woods. Talk to the animals. Teach them to do drugs. Be free.

Not recommended if you are on a door dash diet.
