I don't have a car. Been able to pay bills on time and live comfortably within my means for years. Got the stimulus saving for a vacay.

Hope you don't have any medical issues*

If you get too comfy you won't need those 2 gig jobs in addition to your regular job keeping your hours just under full time benefits

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I have 950$ left over. My dog needs to go to the vet and get a bunch of tests, X-rays & probably a nail removed. I’m just glad I can do it.

Good thing its a rare example of "life happening"

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Rent is more expensive than a mortgage.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Long term yes, but most people cannot afford the upfront costs of buying a house.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Add in student loans too

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And medical costs. Its insane how a broken arm can cost in the US

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only if you're single, if you actually want a family then your wife and kids better be working too.

I want to live “care free”. Not rich just enough so I don’t have to worry about everyday things.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Never had a fucking vacation in my adult life, periods of unemployment not withstanding.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a boomer, I gotta say, what has happened to get us to this point is tragic. It needs to change back.

Welcome to the dystopia of privatisation, quarterly-profit driven executive bonuses and shareholder profits, gov't corruption and mendacity

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And they gaslight us, trying to convince us all it’s our own fault.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yup. We just don't know how to work hard and make sacrifices. Bitch, you're trying to sell me your starter home for 6x what it cost you 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

AFTER adjusting for inflation. 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You guys got food? *kid with the eye brows meme*

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Rent, bills, food, savings. Pick 2 every month. I work 56 hours a week.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bruh I'm just sick of being laid off at every economic downturn.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you have $100 left over?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I got one raise in 12 years. Apparently the 2008 recession never ended for my employer. “at least you have a job” has worn pretty smooth

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And because of inflation every year you didn't get a raise you got a pay cut.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife was told “you’ll get a 40% raise at f we gain 10% this year. Gained 12%. She got a 4% raise “at least you got one” #fuckem

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Family owned company hoarding the $ and giving jobs to idiot relatives. Goddamnit

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

FORTY PERCENT?! That’s an ungodly amount to raise someone’s pay by in one go? How would they even stay profitable doing that for employees?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Car payment?!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

im glad ramen is cheap af

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's increasingly sad to see that when I find my old friends, (8 years after hs) we're all not doing what we wanted and making less than 50k

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The gov should be focusing on unemployment boosts, vaccine and ways to get ppl safely wrkng. Money to many isn’t effective

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't make a car payment. Buy 10-15 year old Honda Civic. They are fantastic cars. Very reliable. Cheap and easy to fix.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My parents said they saved for a house in 3yrs living on 1 pay check. Only hs education.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

WOW. That blows my mind.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If it was the late 70's/early 80s it would be the smart approach, interest rates touched 19%. I saved for a down payment on my house

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a year, bought it and I have a mortgage, at 3%. My investments return a lot higher than that. I have a HS diploma and I'm working through

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

College, my wife is a stay at home mom and I have three kids.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A coworker said he did this. That said it only cost like $50K for 4Br in 2nd-best suburb here. 1M now...

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

$100 leftover would be pretty sweet

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

$100 left over? Ok Mr. Moneybags.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got student debt. There’s never anything left over. I just throw it in that money pit.

Dad: When I mad $10 an hour, I had a house, car, wife and 3 kids! What do you do with all of that extra money!?

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

When my dad made $10/hr, he had all that, too. Plus food stamps and Section 8 rent assistance...

My husband's Christmas bonus was a $25 gift card to the place he works. Meanwhile his store managers raked in 26k

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's so messed up

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My last place gave you a $5 Starbucks card on your anniversary with the company. Absolutely nothing else was ever given or done.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember watching Lampoons Christmas and thinking "how is he expecting enough money for a pool?"

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never have money left over, typically because what would be left over is needed to self medicate so I can make it to the next paycheck.

5 years ago | Likes 260 Dislikes 3

I use too. After a few years my liver got angry. Work never gets better.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't worry though, the DOW is up. Things are going to be fine.

Sometimes I spend my last $50 on weed and go without food for a couple of days. 3 days hungry wont kill me. Pots help me not kill myself

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Save your pennies and buy a grow light, you won't regret it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I smoke it makes my hungry go away and if you just eat something absorbent but small and drink water with it you'll feel full

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Weed does make the hunger pain and nausea go away. Wonderful thing. Water is key for being poor. Doesnt give you the beetus and a lot of>

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

stuff you eat when you are poor will give you the sugar.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah definitely

Until you get chs and your ONE FUCKING THING THAT MAKES IT EASIER STARTS TO KILL YOU. Or at least feel like it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shit man, that would suck. My cousin had something like that after he didn't take a break for a long time. Any amount makes him sick now.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I lost 30 pounds. I had no strength. You could play my ribs like a xylophone. Had to go get fluids because a water sip made me vom.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ugh. i'm sorry that happened to you. cousin ended up in hospital too with uncontrollable spasms in his whole area. kidney damage also iirc

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then: "We had a great year! Raises for everyone!" Now: "Our shareholders didn't make enough profit. Fire 500 people."

5 years ago | Likes 970 Dislikes 2

Or if you're EA or Activision-Blizzard, "Our shareholders made tons of money, fire 800 people anyway for exec bonuses."

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Jack Welch really fucked us, didn't he?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or in the case of Activision: "We've had our most profitable year EVER!! Fire 800 people and give CEO a raise."

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Make it one million.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don't know how to post Fifth Element reaction gifs, but if i did it would be of the robber saying "gimme the cash-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh!"

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We had record breaking profits. 0.0% raise because inflation is frozen.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Better hire a new CEO to steer this ship! Nine digit buyout of the current CEO's contract, seven digit signing bonus for new CEO!"

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m supposed to get a “cost of living” adjustment to my income every year, less than 2 weeks into the pandemic that was canceled.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

not getting a cost of living pay increase each year is effectively having your pay reduced -- more employees should make a stink about it

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now it is "we had record breaking profits this year, fire 500 people so my bonus is bigger"

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

This is Bobby Kotick with Activision-Blizzard literally 2 years ago. And it was 1800 people.

After WW2, most every other nation's factories were rubble so US workers had huge leverage over employers, who had no competition

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Other countries rebuilt but US had old factories and high labor costs. Hence rise of Japanese auto makers and fall of US firms...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Investors wanted to break the Unions so they picked Reagan. Tide is about to turn back...life for so many US workers is unsustainable

Warren Buffet bought his first share of Coca Cola when he was 11 with a paper route. It is doable. But .......well fuck me!

5 years ago | Likes 211 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Taxes are paid on profit, not revenue. Worker pay reduces profit. The only taxes paid on employee labor are payroll taxes.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That sounds like a awful lot of socialist talk...

5 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 1

It's funny how wages rise when you tell companies that profits over X% are basically confiscated if they don't invest them in the business >

5 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

and the most expensive part of the business benefitting from the most immediate investment is always the staff.

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

My company withheld merit raises this year after slightly decreased revenue, I didn't travel for work saving them 60k this year...

5 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

As a shareholder. Thank you.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

I like how they renamed cost of living increase to merit raise so they could deny it.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0
