5th grade me, 2005, 12 years old and being plagued by the beginnings of puberty

First time dressing myself according to what I thought was "fashionable" in 2006

First time dressing as my TRUE SELF in 7th grade 2007 (photo taken by grandma in her house)

and got into anime and became a weeb obsessed with deviantART

And then I got braces and didn't feel as badass as before

Starting my phase as fedora edgy atheist in high school. Also, glasses, in case I didn't get bullied enough.

photo taken by my mom of course

I tried to dress "dapper" and "classy" for a while........ Really just wannabe steampunk but my mom wouldnt let me (2009-2010)

Then I got a horrible haircut and tried to dress like a "flapper" because I was really weirdly obsessed with the 1920s???

and yes I dressed like this every where. Grocery store, school, outside, every where.

Photo taken by my aunt 2010. First car, looking really cool and not punchable at all.

Still have the car at least.

And this is me now. 23 years old, got better hair and stopped dressing like a douche.

Be careful who you make fun of in homeschool

We all go through our own phases... There's a few pictures of young me that makes current me want to go back in time and punch him in face.

A lovely progression. Just as long as you're happy with who is on the inside.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

don't feel bad. I was wearing JNCO jeans and a polo button up in High School. lol. grats on not dressing like a douche!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best progression pics I've ever seen. Good job.

Mate I haven't commented on a thing in ages but your school fashion history is absolutely fuckin nuts. Glad you came out mellow and pretty.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I swiped so fast I thought I was on Tindr. But seriously IMGUR, how is this getting upvotes??

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

As someone whose journey through puberty is very similar, half that battle is learning to deal with the curls.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I went through similar phases... In retrospect I'm surprised my mom let me wear some of that shit just out of shame

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So glad social media wasnt around when I was growing up. We all dressed bad. So awkward.

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 2

yep. it'll take 20 years for people to realize what that means though..

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More importantly, I'm glad digital cameras were harder to come by.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You have matured into a very attractive woman. I was an ugly teen who stayed ugly! lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice, you turned out okay

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not punchable at all hahaha that line made me crack up

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I too like to cringe at my former selves.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That was a roller coaster of phases. You look great.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want to see more posts like this! I feel like I have a lot of cringeworthy pics I could contribute, let's all embarass ourselves.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Couldn't figure out gender until the end. Not that that is a bad thing I guess.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I'm still not sure

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Good progression. Didn't know what I was getting into with the first pic.

9 years ago | Likes 255 Dislikes 3

Pretty sure she upgraded to white mage in the last pic.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who is 12 in grade 5!?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I work in a grade school and average is 10 in 5th so she must have been held back.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I meant 11 lol! I usually was the oldest in class though. Started preschool late-ish.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hi you had terrible fashion sense. I mean we all did .. But yoooo that was bad lol

9 years ago | Likes 879 Dislikes 4

Like really bad. And I have none myself.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She said she liked anime I thought she was trying ti be vash the stampede with that coat Then the queen of England 2nd to last pic lol

9 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 2

I thought she went through an Inspector Gadget phase.

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I wore black all the time from 8th grade- present. 11 years ago. Yup.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotta shamefully admit that I too went thru that 7th grade phase of being a weeb, got obsessed with dA, and dressed like a hot topic mess.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I regret nothing, really, but damn I was a weird looking goofball guy. Least horrible was probably my punk phase, but the rest... yeesh

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Could have been worse: cargo shorts and neon fisherman's hat

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Personally I was button down shirt/tie and swim suit with a pair of Chuck's........

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats what it was like growing up without internet and Instagram and all that

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

In 2006?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

she dressed like a 1920s flapper

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it just me or did "dressing douchey" seem to make you happy? The final picture is so depressing. Conformity is tragic.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

It's not that deep lol! I can't smile on command for selfies so I usually go to resting bitch face. I'm happier and more comfortable now :)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

yeah the last picture is like "now I know what current fashion is. Too bad I left my smile in 2007 when I was comfortable with myself".

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Eventually we all get old enough that we stop caring entirely what other people think about how we dress/look. I call it the "dad look"

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I actually felt uncomfortable with myself and hid with "costumes" back then. I feel more like myself now. Teen years suck ass!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm personally not a fan of the current trend of looking as miserable as possible (I smiled a lot for an emo kid) not saying you were trying

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

yeah it was a cheap dig from my side. You just looked happy in that pic and not in the last. As long as you're happy and comfortable :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha my bad, I thought you were a dude in the 1st pic. And then I thought you were a dude in some other pics even though I already knew

9 years ago | Likes 2144 Dislikes 9

Don't feel bad OP. I also looked like a boy until high school.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought the first pic was young Mystique at the school for the gifted. http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1463602088/00023687e.jpg

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

big ditto to this comment by TheRicM

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And that's why Professor Oak asks if you are a boy or a girl.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I thought she was a dude until the last pic.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I'm still not sure.. The username?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly, the last one was the only one that gave it away to me. Rest looked like a dude

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly, it wasn't until the last pic that I realized he was probably a girl all along.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

me too no offense OP, but you turned out great btw!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you for saying it so the rest of us don't have to.

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously no offense but i totally thought this was another "my transition" post

9 years ago | Likes 689 Dislikes 3

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

She was always hot.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 25

Nah.. She def went through some awkward stages. It's ok to point out.. She fixed the "awkward" and knows it lol

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Dude, have you ever been with awkward-hot? The best. Its like finding a hundred dollar bill in a pair of pants from a thrift store.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 9

Now you're crossing into creep territory. Dude, I don't give a fuck if you look at my favorites. Enjoy.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

And you are crossing into the jerk nexus

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2
