By now many have probably seen the latest temper tantrum from 50 year old frat boy and 4Chan thread come to life, Elon Musk. After first suggesting Ukraine could end the war by simply surrendering large portions of their country to Russia (we all remember how effective that was in 1939), our guy Musk has now claimed he's taking his toys and going home, and will no longer provide Ukraine with free access to Starlink.

The only problem with that is that Ukraine has never had free access to Starlink.

From the beginning, the US (and probably other governments as well) has been paying Elorc for Starlink access in Ukraine (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/04/08/us-quietly-paying-millions-send-starlink-terminals-ukraine-contrary-spacexs-claims). But based on this thread, it seems that many Ukrainians have also been paying *out of their own pockets* for access to Starlink.

Starlink is immeasurably important to the Ukrainian military because much of the war is being fought in areas where radio and cell phone communications are unworkable. Starlink plugs that gap by providing a line of communication where it would otherwise be impossible.

Side note, I have not looked into this charity at all. No one should give money to any charity, anywhere, without first doing some digging to determine their legitimacy and their moneyhandling policies. But I'm including the tweet for the sake of completeness since it's part of the thread. Bottom line is this is not an endorsement.

https://mobile.twitter.com/dim0kq/status/1580827171903635456

Muck has never given away access to Starlink. Not once from Day 1. And creating noise about it now may cause communication blackouts and result in actual lives being lost.

It's time to end the myth that Ol Rusky is here to help anyone.

I don't often traffic in conspiracy theories, but he has allegedly met with Putin recently. One has to wonder what they discussed.

I’m so fucking sick of Elon musk

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

And there's this rumor going around:

every accusation is a confession, just like with all other trash.

Providing aid to an enemy of America (Russia)? Sounds like a traitor to me.

Musk cut a deal with Russia. Russian airspace is a nice payment to cut service.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That Elon musk is an asshole and half

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It was never free to begin with what the fuck is he on

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I wish people would stop idolizing this asshole and giving him money.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Why private companies should NOT be providing anyone a communication infrastructure. It's too important to be left on profit seeking entity.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Perhaps it’s time to begin a short selling campaign?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He’s put the satellites into orbit so his sunk cost is already there and has nothing to do with Ukraine. The useage would have small 1/

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Variable cost; which is what he is being paid for, and making profits from.. he’s full of shit

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE: NATIONALIZE STARLINK. FFS.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Elon is cunt, so…

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The US should just nationalize SpaceX and cut him out. it'd be pretty clear cut on national security grounds

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

There are times when nationalizing something and giving the ol novichok to a tech billionaire is justified imo

True, i could’ve just added his face.

What a small, insecure, and petty man.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Musk is the new Dick Cheney. Fight me.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Gen X version of Trump was the best thing I heard.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly, i think Musk is way worse, or at least has the potential to be way worse all told.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you figure? They both are awful but they were both awful in pretty different ways.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

War profiteering is never a good look.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Musk is a pos. Also nice at 0 indexing his thread

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Musk is a dick. Nothing more.

Can we still add more to this list? Reprehensible lying sociopathic fart nugget.

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

making specific insults for famous people should be your job. Cuz that was perfect.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Amazing, really. Just by opening his mouth, he went from internet golden boy to low hanging fruit by letting the world know he’s a pos.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Tesla? I thought "Cool". SpaceX had success I thought "Cool". Orbit a car? "Cool". Hyperloop? Maybe he knows something I don't. Now? POS

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Literally all projects I could get behind, all of them promising sustainability. Turns out, just a rich guy making his own toys.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hyperloop is a pipe dream and has been since the first demonstation system was built by Ely Beach in 1870. Pure hucksterism.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No surprises there, the logistics for it were insane even at the smallest possible scale, and he was proposing it for international travel.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

USAID paid $1,500 per uplink and $800,000 for transportation.... but Elon is a capitalist... so he's not into giving anything for free.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Then why did he say he was giving it away for free and doing them a favor? When it was just operating like anywhere else that's paid for?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Given Musk's net worth, even paying for everything would not even put a dent in his wealth.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Just pretending he was.

Yes, it's called warprofiteering. Happens all the time. Tesla, Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed are making billions, paid for by the taxpayers. Oh

3 years ago | Likes 651 Dislikes 9

I am praying Biden will show musk that little trick where he is allowed to force any company in the country to do wtv for defense

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think they prefer the term "motivated transactions".

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but Boeing can't turn off their jet when the military is already using it.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Uh Little Orphan Annie. Remember the rich guy? Daddie Warbucks? How do you think he made his $$$ The name was comment WWI profiteers.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Prolly should find a better source than BI tho. They're basically tabloid trash dressed up.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely seems like a bold new twist to take money, claim you're operating for free, and then yank the service you were paid for.

3 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 0

When noone is going to lynch him for being evil, he has no reason not to be as evil as possible.

3 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

I mean basic moral decency seems like a good reason. Shit like this just proves he has none.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

war profiteers usually keep their mouths shut about being victims, my guess? starlink will announce how deep shit it is in financially soon

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

musk will blame ukraine despite the entire business model being at fault

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ding, ding, ding!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why is it always assholes who control resources?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Because assholes are the ones who gobble up the resources to start with

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

think it goes beyond war-profiteering.. this is 'i turned your gun off because of my whims'

Russia has class 1 Nickle to make batteries. Am I the only one who smells some shenanigans going on!?

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

My thought is more on the shortage of oil and natural gas are causing people to look for green solutions causing more demand on materials>

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

To produce batteries. Meaning it will cut into his bottom line.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Follow the money.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure that relatively little nickel is used in modern lightweight batteries.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

And what if Nickle goes up almost 30% because of what’s going on in Ukraine? And Russia has a lot of it.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And bro you are wrong, per car battery is required…. A typical electric car battery has: 25 pounds of lithium 60 pounds of nickel 44 pounds

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Not entirely wrong, SOME batteries use Nickel, others don't use any Nickel at all. Nickel gives higher capacity at inherently high cost.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

How the fuck is this part flying this much under the radar?

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

This is literally Elon Musk openly admitting to be personally responsible for the deaths of Ukrainians out of sheer fucking spite

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How is this not enough for a war crimes tribunal?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Musk called a guy a pedophile for rescuing children without Tesla equipment. Never forget that.

3 years ago | Likes 1198 Dislikes 6

The way I see it, your oft-repeated go-to insult says more about you than the other person. Ergo, Musk is probably a pedophile.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I remember that was the start of his downfall. because before that he was super cool after that everyone went WTF?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

& once he didn't apologise & doubled down people started REALLY looking at him & it became pretty clear he was a douche w/ a captial bag.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Musk also is stating to end the war in Ukraine, that Ukraine should pretty much give Russia what it wants

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Waiting for Elongated Muskrat to blurt out "Dimko means Pedo in Ukranian" or something like that.

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Not even equipment, without his half-cocked, back-of-the napkin idea that wasn't built and wouldn't work even if it was.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on the guy, but found nothing.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What, really? Source?

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Don't know why people are down voting this, they asked for a source because it was new information to them, that's good critical thinking.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That was the exact moment many of us realized what he really was. I used to stick up for the guy, but after that? Musk can die in a ditch.

3 years ago | Likes 121 Dislikes 1

Ah yes but you see calling someone a pedo was a common insult, so that makes it OK. I would /s but that was his actual argument.

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I'm embarrassed that my lust for cool tech clouded my realization that Musk sucked until that moment.

3 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Well now you all learned that regardless of what a person is doing, if they're getting filthy rich off of it, they're a pos.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The bullshittyness of hyperloop was the first sign, but the Thai Cave fiasco sealed the deal. Anyone reading an article at the time would

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

know how some of the corners were so tight that an adult man with a sucba tank could barely squeeze through. Which is to say, a 10' rigid

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

submersible is utterly useless. Musk interjected himself into that crisis, and in a clear display of lacking knowledge, "gave" them

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

something that anyone with even cursory knowledge of the scenario would know is useless. Then he flew himself to Thailand, uninvited, to

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

tweet photos of himself just outside the rescue operation. They had to ask him to leave! Calling someone actually responsible for the rescue

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

his supporting evidence for that was that he lives in Thailand and is single. If I recall correctly.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I'm going to be honest; I usually make the same assumption about white male expats in Thailand, because child prostitution is a huge 1/3

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

lol jesus christ. thanks for that i guess.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, wow, I had never seen that. I think I might've just sprained something simultaneously laughing and cringing.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

industry there and that's why Rush Limbaugh types go there. Generally it's pedos that prefer boys, the ones that prefer girls will 2/3

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

go to Bolivia instead. Or at least that's what my friend who had an NGO job investigating child prostitution told me. No personal knowledge

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Well thats horrifying knowledge I know posses and will have to actively repress since if I randomly blurt it out and someone asks how I know

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Huge respect to those that work to fight child prostitution. I think that job would psychologically destroy me.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

expats move to places like Thailand or vietnam because it's cheap AF and they can actually retire on money that wouldn't last them a year.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

And attract a compliant wife

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Are there countries where you can retire on 100k US where you feel that isn't true?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

that's fair, I didn't know that. But you can't go out and accuse someone just because of that.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm saying living in those countries is cheap, not prostitution specifically. I don't think it's as big a draw for oldsters as people think

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you own a Tesla and aren't a simp, time to trade it in.

3 years ago | Likes 167 Dislikes 7

Mine is a pretty decent car. The world is boiling. Elon sucks.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I was going to get a Tesla 3, musk made me want to wait until bmw makes a 3 series electric car or i4.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

no real point in dumping a car once its bought unless its a lemon, Its just bad financial sense. but if looking new you have choices now.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Especially in Europe where fast charging infrastructure has to use a universal connector by law.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From what I've seen, it looks like they're crap cars with awful service policies besides. There are other electric cars out there.

3 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 1

He no longer has a monopoly in the mass produced electric car market. Thankfully.

3 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

I used to want a Tesla, but that was basically when they were the only viable electric car. I hear they're built like shit anyway.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are very good cars, but the factories built to make them are shit, so many come off the production line needing to be fixed.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They were good, but successive botched updates have made mine an absolute pile of shit. Can't wait until the lease is up in May.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"If you own a Tesla and aren't a simp" is this possible?

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 6

Aye, that's me. I really enjoy the car. Muskie, Tesla the company, not so much. Does it help that I debadged my car?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My brother and sister in law. They divested their Tesla stock as soon as musk started getting shitty(so, years ago).

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They haven't sold the car yet but they're shopping around for options.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"They divested their Tesla stock as soon as musk started getting shitty" impossible bcs the IPO was in 2010 and Musk was shitty b4 that

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Visibly shitty to them. I've only got so many characters to use here.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. There are plenty of iPhone users too like 'I don't know, I went to the store and asked for a new phone, this is what I got'

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

so people go to a car store and just leave with a Tesla? I think it takes a bit more targeted shopping than a phone

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I heard it was good and electric". They aren't so niche that they require being a member of the cult to hear about them or find them.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Check out Polestar. The Swedes - soon to be NATO members, hot women, and meatballs. Who needs Elon?

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

The Swedes are soon to be meatballs?!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, kinda. Around 20% voted for the just-recently-nazis party. A party who was founded by Nazis, and was protesting with Nazi flags in 90s

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So 15-ish% less than the americans who voted for the nazi party. Still sounds like a win.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought Polestar was Chinese. Anyway, if I had the cash. I'd get a Lucid.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They're made in China but Polestar is a Volvo brand.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ahh ok. Learned something new.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A Chinese investment company bought Volvo years ago.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes but Volvo is owned by Geely, which is Chinese.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

TIL!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I wouldn’t buy a new Tesla, hell no. But if you’d already bought one, Ggetting rid of it doesn’t hurt Russkiy Musky.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Cars need to be serviced regularly. Best to pay such costs to someone else.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Less teslas on the road means less public acceptance of them and less advertising for musky

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

This. They're so normalized here that cops don't even pull them over for the missing front plate any more(illegal in my state).

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I am guessing most tesla owners can't afford to throw the thing in the compactor so it'll just be on the road with its new owner.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right, but that means the buyer buys at a reduced price, which screws musk and now there's only 1 Tesla on the road instead of 2 ;)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That assumes a lot. If used isn't available second guy mightve bought a rivian instead.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The car doesn't disappear just because you sold it. People drive used cars.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

And they get the car for a reduced price instead of buying a new one. How is that not a good thing in screwing musky?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And now there's only 1 Tesla driving around instead of 2. Totally understand your thought process though.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
