Cheerios wants to do something about deteriorating bee colony health by giving out free wildflowers.

The goal has been reached in the US, but that's not stopping them from giving out more!

They're also sending seeds out to Canada! As of now, Canada is only at 59% of their goal. Get on it!

Listen, I don't like bees. But I need them. And so do you. Get some free flowers, spice up your garden, and make some little bees happy.

They need help!

I did my part! Plant flowers every year, getting these seeds too!! Save them bees!!

Any thought given to ecosystems and effects of introducing random plants to areas where they aren't native?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I ordered my seeds. I'm going to make my own live action Bee Movie!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's all the pesticides, start there, the plants are the effect after the cause.

I'm there are already enough flowers and trees for bees?!? This is tarded...Colony collapse has nothing to do with flowers.

Just saw this on Facebook and ordered mine. Takes 6-8 weeks to get them. Daughter will like them

TIL that the east of the USA cares much more about bees than the west does.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oooh. I'd definitely be interested if they ever decide to expand to Australia. All about that permaculture!

I just did this today! Entered to get seeds. They told me 4-6 weeks! Perfect time for going on hikes in the PNW. :)

Last I heard the colony collapse thing was under control and bee populations had risen dramatically. I guess we can always use more?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I guess Maine just said fuck it?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*Not available in Alaska and Hawaii

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think Maine is weird about mail-in shit. Or maybe they don't sell cheerios there?

You'll find with simple research that the problem bees were facing was identified and resolved very quickly. Had made a fast recovery

Can Americans get seeds too? I'm driving from Buffalo, NY to Juneau, AK this summer I'd love to plant a seed in every state I pass through.

9 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

You can! It's the first link in the description :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm an American and I was able to order seeds earlier this weekend. I would only advise ordering seeds for your home state though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good call, I'll do some research before I order for sure

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eyyy! I'm from Buffalo too! Where abouts?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm from Clarence but I'm in school in Canandaigua at the moment

Have you ever read Miss Rumphius?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually have not

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a children's book about leaving your mark on the world. Barbara Cooney. It was one of my favorites. This thread brought it to mind

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll have to check it out for sure

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seeds are really fucking cheap

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Oh for sure... but free is the ultimate cheap

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Can confirm, 20ยข at Walmart.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

They sell one of those huge box of seeds at dollar trees

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How much are they?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A dollar. Dollar tree is a dollar store, sorry forget that people don't have those stores near them! I love them so much

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can often buy seed bombs or wildflower pellets at garden centres. Keep in mind state to state it may be illegal to bring them.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Good call, I'll definitely do my research before haphazardly planting anything in the ground

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I did get free seeds FROM Cheerios via Veseys seeds mailed to me for the bees. Maybe you can too?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Commercial seeds are usually ok to take across state lines, plants are where you get into trouble, especially after Walmart caused a 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

massive tomato blight a couple years ago by sending contaminated plants from one nursery all over the country 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That sucks. Ouf.
