Ah chicago never change

Chicago! :D I live there!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's called "crabbing" and no, an alignment won't fix it, that car is fucked, should not be on the road

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like this car's doing the sideways shuffle - more like a drunk crab than a vehicle. Alignment? Nah, this ride needs a full-body exorcism.

Going south on Ashland?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Deja Vu!
I've just been in this place before. Plays on repeat

The Illinois plates don't surprise me

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Southbound N. Ashland Ave at Courtland, Chicago. Metra Clyborne stop on tracks above bridge.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Looks like Cicero in Chicago if I'm not mistaken. That would actually explain a lot.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s Ashland and Armitage right near I-90.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like a particular spot in Chicago.

Illinois plates, you're likely right

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah you can hear the GPS say to turn onto Armitage. I drive by this place to go to the Lowe’s up that way

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Every Chicagoan knows that's part of the city

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Classic VW, stupid things will run forever no matter how much you fuck them up

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This looks like Ashland ave just south of armitage in Chicago.

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Those potholes on Ashland might knock it back in place.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ah yes the Volkswagen Jetta Spec Crab Edition, very rare model

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 143 Dislikes 2

That was good. Beyond good.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That’s so effen profound.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I am no mechanic but you might consider getting an alignment

5 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 2

Nowadays, you have to be a master mechanic to be able to say something is wrong with a car.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The frame is fucked, you can't realign that.

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Technically you can. Frame pullers exist.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

But it keeps going... thats gotta be worth something

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Always called that DogTrackin

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Same

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I couldn't remember that term.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I grew up knowing it as "dogwalking" never knew why.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Needs the music

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dog walking. That's a fucked frame lol

5 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

It’s has no frame, it’s a unibody...?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No, it's not. That's like an 04 Jetta my man.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, unless you're a woman, or 5ft 4, s2k's are not for you homie.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dog tailing? I saw this...dog something....?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dog tracking

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Correct !!!!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a new one. I've always heard it called "crab walking".

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha, where you from? NC here

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

OH, but lived in VA for most of my life prior. I've also heard it called "crabbing".

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like you're in the majority! Haha

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

NY, always called it crabwalking

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's wild. What do you call soda? Lol

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Soda... “pop” or “cola” is for southerners and midwesterners

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

PNW here, we call it dog tracking, yup bad frame/chassis

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Think someone just yanked it out of a ditch or something, or full on wreck and then just body work?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes that's one way. Any collision with another car or structure can cause this also.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

is this good for the tires?

5 years ago | Likes 270 Dislikes 2

Glad you asked - yes it's very good for the tires. Most people don't know this, but definitely so good.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Is it good to upvote the content, but down vote the guy talking?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wonder if that is road legal, too

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just VW things

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Has nothing to do with VW. lol. Car was probably in a bad wreck or something and the alignment is screwed up. Called crab walking lol

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This is what happens when the mechanics don't finish rotating your tires.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

My tires rotate every time I drive!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, imagine dragging a cardboard box on an edge for a few miles

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Of course it is! It keeps the tires nice and hot to maximize traction!

5 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 0

Oh nice I was wondering when someone would adapt Mercs DAS to a road car.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It’s good for the tire salesmen

5 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Nothing that we do with tires is good for them

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This kills this tires

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

No

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It's theoretically possible that this could have no negative effect on the tires. It could just be an extreme thrust angle. However, this1/2

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

2/2 is highly unlikely.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It’s good for tire sales!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

rear axle is pulled back/forth on one side. This is called crabbing or dog walking. the rear axle is way out of alignment/displaced.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Independent rear suspension. Just needs an alignment.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That far outta whack, it probably needs repairs as well

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is this not front wheel drive?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The front wheels are the reason it’s going a specific direction, the alignment of rear wheels is why the rear is kicking to the side 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

rather than tracking straight back like a vehicle should. From/rear/all wheel drive plays a part in this but all 4 wheels matter 2/2

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think it needs an alignment.

5 years ago | Likes 420 Dislikes 2

You think?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oohh..look at the mechanic everyone

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She's fine. Tires are feathered

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What? No way! Lol

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

definitely chaotic evil

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

As a DM, I grant this a +1 and it is now considered magical.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Probably can't afford it loving in Chicago

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought I recognized that curve

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Plus the gps said armitage ave

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or a new frame

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it needs at least three of those

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You know they took it to the shop for windscreen wipers and complained they were being upcharged and their car drives fine

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ya think?!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Control arm

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Actually looks like both control arms in the back, both those wheels are so toed in I'm surprised they'll turn...

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

How does this happen? Just a wreck or years of neglect? Cause I'm neglectful.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Control arms don't usually break unless you hit a huge pothole or something, and even then it's usually your rims and tires that suffer. ~

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More often, the bushings go bad and cause a really bad shake going down the road.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Frame is bent
