There have been numerous burglaries and robberies here in the So Cal area and recently, several burglars have been shot by homeowners. I have zero sympathy.
robbers gun looks like a typical polymer frame pistol but in desert tan with a shitty drum magazine that just makes it unweildy and unreliable. Ladys gun aint much better. thats a Drako or some similar "pistol" ak. would be lucky if she didnt hit the dude being robbed with it but it has the scare factor.
Unpopular opinion, but people that are willing to do this shit are past the point of saving and should be given the death penalty. They have a clear lack of respect for human life and no amount of prison or rehab will fix that.
I'd much rather someone come at me shooting with a home built 80% kit and a janky drum mag than a real glock with a standard capacity mag. The likelihood of that thing jamming is pretty high
I was wondering if only the second gun was real. Assailants had plenty of opportunity to use the first one if they were going to, and given how brazen the attack was the fact that they didn’t has me wondering if they couldn’t.
A gun someone made themselves and isn't registered anywhere. It's actually not illegal by itself, but most people that have them are probably circumventing some law.
I've felt unsafe before in poor neighbourhoods. But never "I might get shot" bad... well once with a older type airgun. But those are like 10 bar or so. ~Netherlands.
To be fair, its a far different and much more homogenized culture in Netherlands. Also much smaller geographically and about 5% the population of the US. Its important to note that as the US is so vast, there are many different policy norms and social norms (and their accompanying cultural/economic/social failings) that vary greatly area to area. I also dont think its just the guns either, since we have them in Canada too and we manage not to shoot up schools every other week.
I teach at an international school and the Korean, Japanese, and most European kids are in awe anytime they see a gun or hear gunshots which isn’t uncommon in my city
Not exactly the right correlation. I live in the US and my neighbor gets milk delivery, but there has been a mass shooting in our city every week for the last 2 months and you probably haven't even heard about it.
You're more likely to get fatally stabbed in the US than the UK. The Brexiteers are generally an angry bunch, but it's more of an impotent, red faced, complaining type of anger.
Glad I live in a country where it's hard enough to get illegal firearms (and five years if you get caught with one). Pistols are not common and laws are strict enough that some people don't even bother going thru the process of getting a license to buy those... I know some people who had a bunch and got rid of them because it's getting stricter and more costly. Hunting rifles and shotguns are common around here, but I can't remember the last time I've heard about an incident.
So, you know nothing of poverty and the underlying problems that poverty causes to those perpetually trapped in it, right up to the severe mental health issues that go unaddressed because it is too expensive to treat?
most crime happens very locally. The criminals want to hit-n-quit, get back to their house where they're "safe" quickly. So, often within same neighborhood. However, car thieves have shifted to importing folks to a city. They go steal a couple of trucks from one part of town, drive to another part, load up as much shit as possible, then park the trucks near construction sites on outskirts of towns to cool down. Come back and see if police have found anything w/ lojack. If not, drive off.
and the poor who've also likely been involved in crimes (because they're broke), so they can't easily turn to the police for assistance, because the cops will just arrest them instead.
Crime is often an economic matter. Therefore poverty translates to higher crime rates. This has been proven over and over, and yet people like you keep getting your talking points from proven liars.
You do make a good point regarding the divergence between property crime and violent crime, though. Property crimes are way up right now, including breaking & entering/burglary (which is considered a violent crime), while homicides are overall trending downwards.
The impoverished country seems to have better social standards in most places of the world compared to the US, which is ACTIVELY seeking to plunge people into poverty.

If you pause the video at the right time, you can see the end of the slide. There's no switch installed.
JustSomeDevGuy
They should make those Glock switches illegal, so nobody can have them.
MrPickins
They are illegal in the US.
JustSomeDevGuy
But then how do the bad guys have them
MrPickins
I don't know if you think you're being clever, but it's because they don't care about the law...
What I can tell you is a whole shitload more of them would have them if they were legal, and thus easy to get.
