I mean, a Taoist king is humble and empowers his people...

No kings is harsh, most kings suck.

Don't forget your inflatable animal costumes! That way they'll REALLY know we mean business. They'll have no choice but to change their ways.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Y'all keep yelling "no kings" when there's a lot of monarchies in the world with a better functioning democracy than you guys have ever had.

Third times the charm I guess? The first two accomplished so much after all. At this point I have more faith in the Iranian threats of assassination.

How about "no wars"?

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Large demonstrations aren't always single-issue events, people can show up with adjacent themed signage if they want.

I say keep 'em coming, the evidence is overwhelming from the last round: The US refrained from becoming a monarchy. Check mate, royalty.

Full on general strike every weekend and expand it

Friday the 13th this week, Ides of March on the 15th. Maybe I should choose a bottle of wine for that special event … just in case.

@KingOfTheImgurians you ought to request a waiver whereas this looks promising

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Oh, this is the type of stuff I get VERY involved in. Whereas my rule is whimsical and tolerated in this place, my country has never needed, nor wanted, a king.

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tolerance is trivial when whimsy is involved.

Someone said it better than me. We need to start making demands, and causing actual problems for the people in power if those demands aren't met. We need to be done with performative shit. Are we ready or not? https://www.reddit.com/r/AntifascistsofReddit/comments/1ro97il/without_demands_its_just_a_grumpy_parade/

Not really.

These protests are about power. Right now, fascists hold power, and they have narrative control that lets them keep that power, because every dissenter with authority is constantly told that their dissent doesn’t matter - “just follow orders”.

These ongoing protests show that dissent is, in fact, the majority opinion. You don’t need impeachment authority to have our support. Local officials, workers, voters… we show our support for _anyone_ who opposes unchecked executive power.

I can see your argument that even symbolic protests rally people, but I think you are wrong about power. In a functioning democracy, where all parties respect the rules, the will of the majority is enough to change things. But when there are no rules, power is simply the ability to impose your will on others and prevent others from doing so to you. This is their guiding philosophy, might makes right. They aren't going to give up because the majority is against them, they are specifically...

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...building a world where they can rule without the consent of the majority, using AI drones to track you and determine if you are a 'terrorist'. I guess what I'm saying is that the majority simply asking them to stop won't work, eventually action will need to be taken, and better sooner than later because they are constantly gaining power.

You misunderstand. We’re not asking the fascists to stop.

We ask school boards to keep accurate curricula. We ask companies to refuse DHS contracts. We ask citizens to obstruct ICE raids. We ask employers to give PTO for elections. We ask lawyers to provide expertise. We ask everyone to support charities and provide services the fascists refuse to.

Power is not inherent. It’s given by those who enable. We ask the entire country to stop enabling fascist rulers, and we support those who try.

Hey sweet, mine is 27th. Where you at 29th? We need to sandwich this guy!

2 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Sorry I'm another 27th

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You share a birthday with Nathan Fillion. I also know that the UK Singer Ren (Gill)'s birthday is the 29th.

That is one sexy sandwich then...both Fillion and Ren are dope.

Happy that you know who Ren is.

How do we organize round the clock (or at least morning to night) protests?

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

First, start by getting a core group of retirees with plenty of spare time and nothing to lose.

Then get a large group of backers to support their logistics.

Then find a local cause that’s ongoing (like tracking ICE vehicles). Bear in mind, you’ll probably only have 5-10 protesters overnight, so make sure it’s something where a small group has a big impact.

Such protests are happening, but they’re for small targeted events… not nationwide marches.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

maybe protest shifts?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, but how do we organize it?

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You and @CrownPrincessAzula can contact local 50501 groups. Some are better than others, I’ll admit, but they’ve become the banner group organizing lots of little actions… and even if they can’t help you directly, they’ll likely know people in your area who can help you organize.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ping me if you need help with reaching out to 50501 groups.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have no idea. v.v Maybe some app can help facilitate this? If it shows amount of people attending we can spread it out to high visibility times and dominate the news!

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We should probably do these things more than once every 6 months.

2 weeks ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 16

There should be something like wikipedia but for all the problems facing humanity, and for all the ideas people have. A stack overflow but for humanity.
That's what Needpedia is, we're almost ready to take it public and could really use more help if anyone's interested.

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And for longer than 3 hours.

2 weeks ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I laughed when they had one of these last October or whenever it was, and said "see you after winter". I was hoping to be wrong, but it's so funny how people think you can just take six months off protesting and then make a little noise for a day as though it'll change anything.

2 weeks ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

Increasing frequency to every 3 months likely triggers "activist burnout" and "emotional attrition." Research shows mass movements rely on an "exhausted majority" whose participation peaks during high-salience events. Doubling frequency risks desensitization, where the "newness" and urgency fade, leading to lower per-event turnout. While a 6-month cycle allows for resource mobilization and anticipation, a 3-month cycle could shift the movement from mass rallies to smaller, core-only events.

2 weeks ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 12

Mind if I ask for any links aimed at this cycle, if you have them on hand, since all my googling came up with was "activist burnout happens"?

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I think they are asking you to post sources to support your claims, such as scientific studies on activism participation.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe, but they can go do their own fucking research. ::shrug::

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the x should be over the crown

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

i agree with your point but i don't know how it would look aesthetically. but yes, completely agree with where youre coming from

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It... Is over the crown.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

dude, do you see red on black or do you see black on red? yeah, it covers the same area, but the black color is clearly over the red color.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It is though.

2 weeks ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

there is a black crown on a red X, not the other way around

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

are you trying to gaslight me ? or do you honestly believe that ?

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Maybe an issue of screen size, the transparent parts of the crown might give the impression of being overlaid because you can see them through gaps in the black lines.

2 weeks ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I see a red x over the crown in the image

2 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

it is under the crown

2 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

so you are saying the black out line of the crown is BELOW the RED " X " ?

2 weeks ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Look closely at the parts of the crown which are 100% opaque, there is no red overlaid, which would indicate that the red 'x' is on the layer below/behind the crown. If it were markered onto physical media like paper or brick, the crown would have had to have been drawn second, after the big 'x', and thus on top of it.
