I have nothing to be afraid of showing anymore

This my dear imgurians, is fucking fuckshit psoriasis, i've had it since i was born.

Some of you might wonder "Frank, what the fuck is that shit?"

Well, Billy, let me share with you some information:

To begin with, psoriasis is a systemic disease.

"Psoriasis turns your skin cells into Type A overachievers: They grow about five times faster than normal skin cells. And your body can't keep up. The old ones pile up instead of sloughing off, making thick, flaky, itchy patches.

Why do these cells go a little haywire? There's more going on under the surface of this skin disease."

Ok, so what are those "more things" going on?

" When you have psoriasis, the genes that control your immune system signals get mixed up. Instead of protecting your body from invaders as it's designed to do, it promotes inflammation and turns skin cells on overdrive."

So what makes this psoriasis trigger/flare up

Triggers

If you've got the right combination of genes, something can turn psoriasis "on" or start a flare.

Skin injury: A cut, scrape, bug bite, infection, bad sunburn, or even too much scratching can trigger the condition.

Infections: Strep infections, in particular, are linked with guttate psoriasis, which looks like small, red drops. Kids will often have strep throat before their first flare. Earaches, bronchitis, tonsillitis, or a respiratory infection such as a cold, the flu, or pneumonia can also set off your skin problems.

HIV : Psoriasis usually is worse in the beginning stages of the disease, but then it gets better after you start certain treatments. (well, atleast i ain't got that shit)

Medications : Some can make psoriasis worse.

It has crawled from my back, over my shoulder onto my chest

At first, my psoriasis didn't do much, it was flaky, that was about it.

Up untill 4 months ago, it started to flare up, like it never has before, and worse than ever because of a tonsilitus infection i didn't even know i had.
I ran out of medications around 2 weeks ago, it went from almost nothing, to what you see in the pictures in around 1 and a half week, and it' gonna take some time before i get the next batch.

I also have it EVERYWHERE! on my head, my back, my thighs, my hips, on/in my ears, my arms and yes, it's on my penis (only the foreskin though
It started to itch, everywhere, my back, my chest you name it, like a warm itchy christmas sweater, except when you itch you'll start to bleed instead, and everything you wear will need to be changed ( i change bed clothing after every night because of all the blod spots)

it feels like a sunburn on my back, on my chest, on my hips, i have developed a second type of psoriasis that gives me even MORE spots, but more on my fingers/hands/feet.

The best part? Psoriasis is easily treated with sunlight! the bad part? mine is heat sensitive, and i'm sensitive to UV rays, i get burn really fucking easily, and it feels like i have 2 layers of sunburn.

Thanks for your time

Here's a Bananasaurus

Hearing people say "Eew what is that?" "is it contagious?" "Cover it up so we don't have to see it!"
it doesn't make you like people very much, it hurts, but it also show what lack of knowledge there is regarding such a disease.

I just needed to vent, i'm going to have this shit my whole life until i get eaten by maggots or my corpse is raped by a necrophiliac.
I know a lot of people have it worse, but i wish for all of you who have tough times because of either disease or disabilities or anything else that makes life feel like shit, i wish you find sources of happiness regardless, don't lose your spark.

TL:DR Skin disease, it sucks and makes me itch, flake and bleed, some people suck.

Source: #2">#2">#2">#2">#2">#2">http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/psoriasis/psoriasis-causes-triggers#2 (not the best source but provides simple explanations about psoriasis)

Edit: Wow, didn't think this would reach most viral, and all the kind words i've recived, all the advices, everything. If you have a skin condition, still be proud of who you are.
The outside IS a representation of us, but your personality defines you, so remember, if you're single and have some sort of skin condition or something else that makes you think everyone dislikes you, 15-20% percent of attractiveness comes from the outside, but that 75-80% comes from who you are as a person, that is the attraction bomb.

I believe in all of you who have psoriasis, eczema or any kind of skin condition, or whatever you have that causes challenges in your daily life, dare to walk in t-shirt, dare to walk in shorts, dare to be free of your own, mental shackles!

Life is meant to be savored.

Hi OP, I suffer really badly too with psoriasis and the arthritis. I have a drug called stelara now, an injection every 3 months, cleared it

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

+1 for educating me. I Hope you get effective treatment OP.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Thanks, i do hope something really good will come.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I honestly feel like my psoriasis ruined my life. It sucks. Lost all confidence, stopped playing sport, didn't even bother asking girls 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

out. Only now getting any confidence back. Lost 15 years of experiences to it. Thanks for sharing OP. Also UVb beds - tried those?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bummer, dude. Thanks for the PSA. Keep on doing your thang and here's to your condition and treatments improving! * Raises glass *

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Cheers mate!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They told me they thought I had psoriasis and gave me stuff called coal tar to clear it up. Dunno if it was psoriasis, but that stuff worked

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Coal tar shampoo helped the scalp but not the other areas so kept looking for a "silver bullet" to do all. Maybe I need different answers...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... for the different areas? (Makes sense as skin isn't completely uniform across the body.)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only time my psoriasis went away was when I was pregnant (because of the immune suppression) don't recommend that as a treatment though!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Lol, I had bad back problems until my first pregnancy and never again since. I prescribe op one pregnancy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too-well, almost...still had a few splotches on my arm, legs and back. Had daughter 6 weeks ago bracing for it to come back strong. :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fingers crossed! Pregnancy does strange things to ones body, it might not come back so bad. Mine varies depending on how much sleep I get :(

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hah! As you can imagine, sleep has not been my friend the past six weeks. :/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The lack of sleep sucks ass! Mine is 15mths now and we're only just getting weeks where she'll sleep through night after night. Heaven :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like you're pretty handsome though! Best wishes! And thank you for the PSA!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My love handles does it doesn't it? haha ,no but thanks for your kind words,

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They're not bad, not bad at all, really!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If i am to be fair to myself, i'm in a kinda hunched position.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You're fine! Stop worrying.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

haha thanks :P the world needs more kind people.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I give my coworker breast milk once a week for hers. I'm sorry OP.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Curious but how does that help?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TBH I'm not sure. I think it's the antibacterial properties in human breast milk or maybe is the moisturizing properties. It works though!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hmmm maybe the antibodies in mother's milk? I read somewhere that hemp oil helps for skin conditions as well and has multiple uses.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I could see that too! All I know is that it works for my coworker!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love your user name by the way

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"or my corpse is raped by a necrophiliac"

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

well, rage can make you type wonderful things!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

can you use public pools/ones at gyms, or is that pose a hygenic concern for you or others?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That shouldn't be a problem, in these cases it's the people, the stares, the silent judgements, the faces, but it's due to lack of knowledge

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

best of luck, my son was born with a massive nevus so I am familiar with that whole drama at the pool.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Psoriasis can itch because of the chlorine, but besides that.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had no hopes for my body after I died, but now I'm hoping it gets fucked by a necrophiliac! Thanks @OP

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You're welcome!!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fish oil, the expensive Norwegian Gold shit helps me. Also lots of vitamin D. Arbonne makes a sea salt scrub which is wonderful.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I know y'all mean well, but these home remedies are extremely hit or miss, and everyone with visible psoriasis will tell you that theres 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 no shortage of unsolicited advice to purchase $100 bottles of snake oil out of pocket that we already know dont work for us.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It works for me. Before I used the fish my legs would bleed from December to June. The salt scrub burns delicious and exfoliates

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

im not saying it doesnt work for you, but i am saying that unsolicited snake oil sales pitches are irritating for a number of reasons.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You hit the nail on the head. Why does sunlight "easily cure" it? Vitamin D.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It actually has a relatively normal price in Norway because everything in Norway is ridiculously expensive.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, I am a nurse, and have been for twenty five years. Your description of the condition is better than any I have heard or read.

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

I mostly took what i found on sites and basically copy paste what i found necessary, but i want the knowledge to spread regardless.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My dad started showing signs of it when i was 15, it gradually got worse ill it was everywhere. It was really hard seeing him in such pain

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Always itching off flakes and bleeding. I used to rub this thick clearish cream into his skin every night. Sometimes the soles of his feet

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Would peel off. He tried a sun lamp as well and like you it helped but also made the pain worse

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I'm not too sure why but he got pretty clear when i turned 20 and hes been pretty fine since

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I always read TL;DR as "Tiny Little Doctor"

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I will never read it the same way again hahaha

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

with all this shit going on, you can almost feel the pain a man feels whenever he has the flu

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wife has it and she had it everywhere. Dr said 90% coverage at worst. Luckily insurance pays for enbrel which is a auto injector. Takes it>

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Twice a week and has gotten down to ~5% coverage. Cons: she gets sick about every other week ranging from upset stomach to a bad cold. >

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I'm sure you know your immune system is already hurting and the enbrel pretty much shuts down your defense so just have to be more careful.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Wife says though the shots are worth it. Hopefully your bloodwork would turn out ok if you took that route. Best wishes man and we empathise

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is pretty rare. Most people (including me) have zero side effects and 95%+ clearance.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Embrel is an older generation biologic, your wife should try one of the newer more targeted drugs like Humira or Stelara.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She tried and IIRC humira wasn't covered under insurance and the stelara wouldn't be as potent. I appreciate the input and >

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TBH she's clear and she feels fine most of time and she's happy she's not scratching and bleeding every time she puts on clothes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check out the humira coupon program. I only pay 5 bucks a dose.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I fucked up the source link, eh http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/psoriasis/psoriasis-causes-triggers#2

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

random question have you had chicken pox?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes i believe i have had that.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I never have (i'm 27) and I've always been told that the psoriasis was to blame.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you insured? I have a lot of friends in pharma and there are huge advances in treatment coming out all the time. 90+% clearance

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's pretty fucked bro. I've had it since I was born too. Not quite as bad as your back but it's bad. Fuckin sucks. I medicate my face .

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope it really gets better for you, this shit is fucked up.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's weird every couple of years some of it will randomly go away a little My knuckles elbows knees and head never go away including in ears

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's affected by so much you never really know what's working, it's well weird.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know my beer drinking habit ain't helping it. Bro, I've had it on my dick too. I tried hiding it from my wife. It fucked our sex life up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same to you man. I won't take that medicine that ruins the immune system. I work in a hospital. Wouldn't be a good idea.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's spattergroit.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

wait whut?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Harry Potter joke.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Spattergroit is purple, bro

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Leaves scarring behind

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Recent study in 2013 showed high dose Vit D (like 35,000 IU daily) in conjunction with a low calcium diet improved symptoms. Def worth (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have psoriasis as well and have spent my whole life hearing 'is it contagious?'

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

I heard a radio show with doctor guests and they slipped up and said it was contagious, "just like the flu" and I got beyond pissed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well that makes those of us with it feel great....assholes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have bad/good days depending upon my stress level. On bad days, co-workers ask what happened to your face. Sometimes I wanna stay home.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Something happened to my eyeballs and I read "I have unicorn psoriasis" and I sat and thought for a moment, then sadly read it the right way

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same here. I'll never forget being 15 and getting pretty hot and heavy with a girl at a party and she lifted my shirt up and gasped .

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

well that's a good sign you don't want any of that anyway.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh, I still got it. It was a minor set back but going from 100mph grinding and kissing to 0 and explaining why I have a skin disease sucked

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I can imagine. It's like, this isn't the anatomy lesson i wanted to have but ok...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's interesting how that can be the first question, might aswell ask "should i run away from you??" some people.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Every time I used to get a haircut they used to say "is it contagious?" and one time someone said to their friend " should I stay away?"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I always love getting told it's dandruff, no ma'am it's not and I know it's there. And then they spend the next 20 minutes lecturing me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

people have visibly cringed from me when they asked.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ive got it on my left hand and i dont ever hand People things with that one some People didnt even want to take things from me

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i have it on mine too. people think you don't notice them look at it but you definitely do.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

mine also reacts to alcohol badly so if i would drink id get it inside of my throat the amount of people who go "oh my how do you even live"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In a way you have an accelerated healing factor. Maybe instead of a shirt you should put on a red body suit and unalive some fuckers

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's like the only Plus side to it like after i got tattooed my skin healed so quick i had nearly No chance of infections

I've had eczema my whole life. My husband now has something similar. I try not to think about it when we have sex.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Props to you. I have a similar skin condition. I'm glad it's finally fall bc I can wear pants and long sleeves so my skin stays dry better.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fellow Psoriasian here, I'm sorry @OP. I'll pour one out for you tonight and this weekend, stay strong brother.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

b..but alcohol makes it worse

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks, same to you my friend, this is a battle for 3 that is fought by 1. as it is with many things, for many people.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You better be sorry, Asian!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have it on my scalp. I've gone to barber shops and had the person cutting my hair be disgusted by it. I told a few people to educate thems

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

What are your flareups like? Do they go through a cycle?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Typically when I'm more stressed out it flares up. I use tea tree shampoo which usually helps to keep it controlled.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Educate themselves, so as not to make future customers feel like shit. It is very frustrating when people treat it like a "catchable disease

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have psoriasis covering half of my scalp. Luckily I always go to the same barber that has no problem with it. Also I use very short hair.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also go with a short haircut. And I've found one that's awesome. She knew the second she saw it and now I don't go anywhere else

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use this on my scalp before bed and wash out in the morning - and it is easy to wash out - not greasy! It's amazing, scalp is clear ...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

..for a few days. It is available in US and UK (maybe others) https://moogoo.com.au/scalp-cream.html good luck

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have it on my scalp really bad. Try using tgel shampoo (extra strength). It's really helped me

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll have to try that out. I usually use tea tree shampoo

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry, man. Best wishes.

9 years ago | Likes 256 Dislikes 2

Also, don't worry about your body getting raped by necrophiliacs. I think you at least got that going.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks man.

9 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

You seem like a cool guy. Good luck

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Proud of you for taking the courage to post this, @OP. Best of luck to you buddy.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm so sorry op. That looks so painful. I swear by Epsom salts for anything skin related, but I'm sure you've tried everything. If you 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have psoriasis as well, but mine isn't anywhere near as bad as yours. I'm sorry OP, that fucking sucks

9 years ago | Likes 325 Dislikes 1

Same boat! Fucking sucks!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also have it since 1st grade .hate life sometimes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fellow psoriasis sufferer. It is currently crawling from my scalp, into my ears & down my back. This post made me feel better :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine started in high school. I never knew the tonsillitis connection. I get tonsillitis 1-2 times a year and it's fucking awful.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had to have my tonsils out very young, I wonder if my psoriasis had anything to do with it...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have pityriasis versicolor which is different and more easily treatable but it's still a bitch when it flares up. So I kind of understand

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope you don't ever have to reach this point, and i wish for you psoriasis to get better as well.

9 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 0

I knew someone from high school who had it really bad like you. Can you use any of the ointments they have to help keep iy under control?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks. If you ever want to rant to someone you can always hit me up :)

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

My 3 year old has eczema and was the most miserable little nugget until his pediatrician suggested bathing him in a 1:100 bleach bath. 1/

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/ I thought that would make it worse by drying out his skin more! But OMG it actually freaking worked. He went from scaley/miserable to

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/ almost 100% better.I know the two conditions aren't the same but you might ask your dr if it'll help at all. Thanks for sharing your story

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have it on my head and made socializing in my early life nearly impossible.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have several small scalp spots after a surgery. Fortunately they've stayed relatively small. Looks like bad dandruff

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have psoriasis on my scalp, legs, and elbows. I'm feeling lucky it hasn't spread too far. Feel free to pm me if you want to talk!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine isn't this bad either, but I have psoriatic arthirtis. Scalp, hands, elbows, knees, and ears are my affected areas. OP, good luck man.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can you explain arthritis on your ears, I'm curious..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah its lame. I love me a good rub of clobetasol prioponateteojdndiejs...because spelling corticosteroids is difficult. #ointment

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yup.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's the ointment I use! I have to wait until after I stop trying to have children to try light therapy or pills... Sooo greasy..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Corticosteroids are bad for psoriasis, it might give some temporary relief but it usually comes back with a vengeance, source: GF has it

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Pretty much. Mine works until I stop using it. Trying to conceive, so doc says I have to stick with them for now..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine isn't so bad and i taper off of it regularly.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yo I had it pretty bad on the back of my scalp and t-gel shampoo clears it up. Smells terrible but is so much better than the alternative

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The foam works. Ask your dermatologist for samples/prescription. Stings but works like a mother fucker

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Especially for scalp

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use that when it gets on my scalp as well. I'm using some steroid ointment on my skin for now. It sorta works if I'm consistent

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Triamcinolone? That's what my dermo gives me. 4 Oz tube lasts me around 4 months.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Clobetasol I think?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have it too, all in my scalp. A few years ago it moved to my face. Clobetasol helps a lot but it's too strong for facial skin. Any advice?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

GF has been taking methotrexate, it's a pretty strong med but it's the only thing that's worked for her in a while

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ask your doc about protopic (sp?) for your face. It's not as harsh as clobetasol. I use Clinic face wash and lotion and that helps me

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The foam works. Ask your dermatologist for samples/prescription. Stings but works like a mother fucker

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a fellow psoriasis-having person, I can confirm. It's shit. Source : my back and my face.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm just googled facial psoriasis, hope it well treated.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have some greasy cream I only put at night (it's greasy af). But there's no real treatment. It flares up when I'm stressed and (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It looks like my skin is flaking, I have red spots, etc. Some days I have very little, other days it's my face, neck, back, chest, scalp.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never had one except a breakout yet acne still ruin my face till now so yeah, imagine someone who had psoriasis... I can feel the you

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Acne and psoriasis are both really annoying, ugly, and sometimes painful. But you can treat acne permanently, even if you still have scars.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+50 for stepping up and explaining it. I hope the day comes soon when they come up with something that will end this for you.

9 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 2

Enbrel works REALLY well.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It 's an auto-immume disease. For the next 50 years + there won't be a cure sadly. Maybe never, as you need to alter cells & brain

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1/3 My roommate has plaque psoriasis and he looks like this except white with flakes instead of red splotches. I assume the red is under

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/3 all of his flakes. Living with him has been a blessing & curse as he's a great friend who makes an OCD nightmare with his flakes/"dust".

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/3 he was approved for 1 year of FREE Cosentyx injections because he's lower income. After 4 months, he is 90% patch/flake free!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are correct in thinking the redness is under the white patches. The white is a new layer of skin over the red one.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Scratching the red patch also creates the white flakes that you'd be seeing. Its the same demon with a different look. I'm also OCD about it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My aunt tried mineral mud baths and it helped her a great deal in reducing affected areas. Has to have them regularly though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, she had to go somewhere. It was a long time ago I heard her talk about it. It was a place like a physical rehab crossed with a spa.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also: I recall something about the effect being variable. For some it's a miracle, others it does nothing and for others it eases symptoms.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks, sometimes it feels easier to handle than other times, but as with everything.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Have you tried any injectable medications? Stelara is a good one that comes to mind.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad has it. He lived in florida for a bit and the humidity in the air really moisturized and helped his skin. Best of luck op!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've heard of psoriasis but I never knew what it's like to have it. I'm sorry people are sometimes shitty. Thank you for sharing with us. =)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget stress and alcohol adds to it.

9 years ago | Likes 939 Dislikes 2

Well, shit.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And smoking. Holy shit, since I've quit, most of it went away. Now I get the winter season flakes that are hella annoying.

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

I've got a few remedies if anyone wants to pick my brain.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'd like to hear

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think I'll make a post about it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

do it!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh great, my two go to coping methods

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I have this shit and an anxiety disorder . My scalp and ears are flaky skin and I have a patch on my deck in the shape of a dick...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My psoriasis cleared up about two years ago when I made some life changes and really was no longer stressed on a daily basis

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Life changes like what? I suffer from this

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine also flares up with weather changes.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's definitely not a coincidence that my psoriasis emerged when I entered to the university.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get bad flair ups from damp clothes mostly. Like sweaty gym clothes, rain soaked, even a damn bathing suit.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i feel like this has to do with the friction from said damp clothes. just irritates it and makes it so much worse.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's my every day diet. This explains everything.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

PSORIASIS STRESS DRINK...FUCK

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I see you're stressed and drinking to forget. I will help by making you irritated and uncomfortable all over." -The human body, evidently

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

for me spicy (hot) food triggers it too, if its from capsaicin (i.e. chili), also wine is much worse than beer for some reason

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hey, beer is worse than wine in my case.. we can give eachother the drinks!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank goodness that my one medical condition is actually improved by a few alcoholic drinks.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also it could be a sign your gluten intolerant

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 11

It's usually not at all related.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And smoking. It's almost like an oversensitive immune system very bluntly tells you when you consume poison.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I have eczema and alcohol definitely aggravates it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Smoking (any substance) is also not fantastic for it. It increases you chance of lung infections and such.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Which means invest in Xanax

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends on the person. Stress does it for me. Alcohol doesnt. C Vitamin fucks me up though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Learned the hard way, now I have a mark on my face. Constantly looks like I have a black eye...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, just use it as an excuse for stuff "Why were you late today?" "Ughhh I got attacked on the way..."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Word.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's strange to me that MDs can't seem to confirm that things like sugar affect it too. Apparently there is a wide range of substances 1/

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(mostly ingested) that can have a significant impact on this disease. For whatever reason, they can't confirm this or even confirm... 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad has it. He went on some kind of therapy with lamps. It went great. In about 2 weaks from complete body to nothing. Winter is problem

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lamps?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ultraviolet light in measured bursts can help a lot.

I sell oils and butters from the Amazon Forest, the don't fix it but they help with the itching/pain/flaking, if you would like to try I 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I will give you a good blend, they have helped many people with milder cases than your though... Send me a message if you want to try.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And smoking too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have it as well. My flare ups were dairy products and spicy foods. Thanks @op for the awareness post.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Two things that I would feel come naturally from a shitty situation. You get stressed over it and have a drink top chill out a bit. Shit bro

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Greasy food does not help either.

9 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

Basically you're not allowed to have fun?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Moderation, I can drink every other week and be fine. Or I can eat greasy food about twice a week and be ok but to much to fast and boom.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a slightly less important comment that not as many will read

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 3

Well my feet look like his back and I can keep flare ups down by watching what I eat, so I hope some see it and it helps them.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

This is an extremely unimportant comment that probably noone will read.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Seeing all these encouraging comments, and people who can relate makes me happy and i almost started crying like shit, time for sleep.

9 years ago | Likes 619 Dislikes 2

I'm actually going green and organic. Perhaps changing your soaps and lotions will help. Buy organic fibers too

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Please please please contact your pharmacy, insurance company and manufacturer of whatever meds you were taking. Emergency supply, discount/

and other options are normally on the table.

I have awful eczema, usually kept under control by hydrocortisones. Now I'm pregnant I can't do anything for it. I've always loved 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looking at people's skin and admiring differences, even itchy differences, everyone's skin is so different! Hope you get some comfort soon

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Friend of mine ist treating it with fumaria officialis stuff, it helps, but if you Google it, it is a hell of a drug.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are definitely not alone. I feel like a monster sometimes, so finding this post helps. Thanks OP

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My boyfriend has psoriasis; thankfully it never extends past his scalp/facial hair. Best of luck and I hope yours settles down soon!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My father has always had psoriasis - I don't even see it anymore. It has improved over the years and I wish you the same.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My skin was like cracked land then I got Lush's Dream Cream and it worked for me. I had horrid eczema though, but it might help for you!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My ex had this like tanning booth thing that greatly controlled it. Never knew she had it until she told me about it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dont think it looks bad at all, you have nothing to be shy about

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had psoriasis for about 10 years. It has covered 80% of me. 9 years of blood and pain. Finally doing a bit better this year.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I looked like that when I had stevens Johnson syndrome. Not the same but I can empathise with you op

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this Guttatre psoriasis? I know plaque is more common but I think it looks more like that type. I don't know though I'm not a doctor.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That usually presents as a christmas tree shape on the front of the abdomen.

I don't have psoriasis, but my nickel allergy is so bad, my skin is scarred to hell and back. Sorry you have to deal with this op

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're a human dalmation!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I made a psoriasis awareness post like 3 years ago im so glad others are speaking up esp people with it much worse than me

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The best part is when doctors tell you "if we caught it early we could have cured it" but when I came in fmwhen I was younger they just 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Told me that it would clear up over time with lotion. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have psoriasis on my eyelid, nose, and elbows. Then in the winter I also get eczema on my chin and hands. It's brutal, so I feel you!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have scars all over my legs from living in a flea infested house when i was younger. Stay strong @OP there are good people out there too!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel your pain, I hate to see yours covers such a large portion man. Mine is on my face/chest/upper back area. My face kills me :/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When my face flares from the sun like it is now, I want to scream. It hurts so badly and ppl look at me like a crackhead. I hate it

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This. I work in customer service and most days I get 'what happened to ur face?' So hard to give a polite answer :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had it since I was 6. I had a seizure on xmas eve and that triggered the gene. Same thing happened to my cousin but it was an asthma

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You just have to remember to not go into a tanning bed for too long. I did and I had 1 whole patch that covered my back. If you need any

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tips or advice let me know. :]

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Op. I had it worst. Now 2 shots of Humira a month. My skin looks like a babys butt!!!! Check it out.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would naked hug you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should get super ripped and call yourself salamander figther. Maybe you could ger into wrestling show business huh?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We think youre beautiful just the way you are OP. Hope you get better and NEVER BE ASHAMED!!! :-)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Clobetasol Propionate cream works very well. It's a steroid so use it to get the areas controlled. I just started Humera. So far so good.

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I'm on Stelara. It's made all but a few spots completely clear up for me. Steroids never helped my skin at all.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It kinda helps. Epsom salt baths, & Chaga tea help me. and not drinking but who's going to do that?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A 30g ointment or foam of Clobetasol costs me $298 with my insurance. Can't do that anymore even though it works..

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is what's wrong with the world.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No it's what's wrong with the US health system.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Non-Americans, these are hydrocortisones! Steroid based creams that help heal. Put moisturiser/emollient on first, wait 20min then steroids.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Humera was awesome for me when i was on it, sadly i got pneumonia and had to stop. and it all came back with a vengeance.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed! Had huge patches on the back of my neck, top of right foot, scalp, behind ears, and eyebrows. Clobetasol cleared it all up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of course it flares up again with illness or stress, but consistent use over several days and it's gone again.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am a 30 y/o male and took Enbrel for 3 months. Felt my joints aching and got off it. Started Otezla - did that for 1 month and couldn't

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Otezla was the worst.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea, on days where I needed to be productive, I didn't take it. If I did, I would mope around my house all day and avoid sunlight.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

stand the headaches and upset stomach. Back to going into the sun, topicals, and lots of coconut oil. Seems to be maintained w/o biologics.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sleep well, OP! I can only wish you the best in eventually recovering. I had no idea what Psoriasis was until this post, so thank you..

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dermatologist put me on methotrexate. Side affects are bad, but it really works. Healthy lifestyle helps to manage mine.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also check out frank body products. The coffee scrub is amazing and really works.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had it pretty much as bad as you. You should look in to the medicine Stelara. It's made me almost problem free!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey @OP my SO has equally bad psoriasis, tried everything over the last 18 years, he's found methotrexate works for him, have you tried it?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have recently started taking methotrexate for P. It helps a great deal in preventing flare ups and spreading 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but takes a serious toll on your liver. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know what you mean, fortnightly blood checks currently, his liver function wasn't impaired too much but he did go on a prescribed diet too

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow really? My doctor didnt advise me on a dietry plan at all, any chance you can share what his prescribed diet is?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know where in the world you are OP but there's a good product here in Ireland that I use (mild psoriasis in the family, 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 and in the Irish in general with dry skin) called Moogoo that works very well for me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

when I was 19 I was not having a good time in life and drank a lot, I got 'snowflake' psoriasis all over my body. As a 19 year old girl /1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you can imagine how depressing it was to never want to wear dresses or short sleeve tops etc. I found cutting out alcohol during the week /2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sun beds, salt water (sea/epsom baths) helped loads and it only comes back when I get a chest infection (which is about once a year) /3

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its the worst, I really feel for you but its more common than people think. Keep your chin up :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My psoriasis isn't quite that bad, but my kids will point out rough patches and ask what's wrong with me. Instant confidence loss.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Have you tried a biologic yet? I have AS with very little psoriasis, but because of SI flare-ups, got approval for Enbrel. AMAZING!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP, I have something mildly similar- only difference with me is that mine grew when I was younger and is more like a birthmark now. I feel

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My brother has it too. At least you get to separate the douches from the decent pretty much as soon as you meet new people. Big kisses OP :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Op if you are brave enough google "harlequin baby"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have it on my scalp. Not nearly as bad as yours. My step dad has it pretty severely and he says certain foods cause his to flare up as 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, like ham :( sorry you have to deal with this OP, I know it sucks *scratches head until it bleeds* my hair is thinning out too :(

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My scalp is so bad! I haven't been able to find anything to help with it either.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have plaque psoriasis on my scalp as well. Nioxin helps, or anything for hair loss (not the cheap stuff though).

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It thins out the skin to produce more hair, and in turn helps the psoriasis

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you! It's starting to make me crazy, thinking I'm never going to find anything that helps. I'll definitely check that out.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Awesome Thank you I think I've seen it before so I'll give it a shot

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Take care dude, it is a lifetime search. If you don't like the hormone creams, for me a cream based off Calendula officinalis 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Calms it down. I have it mainly on my scalp m, but i can stop "invasions" witb this cream. Alt is ceto

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Correction: alternative is cetomacrogol cream, also lightens it a bit whenever it gets to anywhere else then my scalp

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have it too! Since I was a kid. 7 y.ago my birth control caused an interesting flare up.... In my lady parts. I feel for you. It's awful.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Changing your diet can make massive improvements w/ autoimmune disorders. My wife has 3 AI disorders incl. psoriasis; diet makes/breaks her.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I have psoriasis on my scalp (not this bad, but definitely feels like a sunburn and scabs up and bleeds) and removing dairy (1)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

+ wheat actually cleared it up. Completely. I've reached a point where waffles+lasagne aren't even worth the hives and rashes they cause(2)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kashi makes some killer GF frozen waffles, just sayin. :) I've yet to find a GF lasagna that was legit though.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not surprised. Lasagne without cheese (ricottaaaaaa!) is just sad.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What type is she doing? For my RA my doc recommended a mostly plant based diet. Just wondering what other types have helped.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Auto immune paleo is often suggested for AI issues. There are lots of great online resources. Be prepared to experiment in the kitchen!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This really helps. My mom develop psoriasis when she's was 60 yrs old. I'm in my 40's now and have symptom grain size like.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Google "Autoimmune Paleo". Also get a blood test for the MTHFR gene mutation. If so, you'll need methylated B vitamins; normal B malabsorbs.
