... it's just not very evenly distributed.

The closer we get to the release of Cyberpunk 2077, the more real it seems to become. (FP edit: since it’s my first time on the front pg, boobies, I guess)

"Cyberpunk reality: Less neon, more surveillance. Traded cool tech for corporate tracking. Definitely not the future we ordered."

Knew there would be laser warfare in the future..but more pew and less blinding.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to become a documentary, not fiction.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s a rave party now!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don’t take their shit! Fuck around Hong Kong.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously. Had a discussion who said "Pro-democracy protesters don't know what they're protesting for" and "This is all Western propaganda>

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

< " like...this guy's from a Western nation. The hypocrisy that he espoused still perplexes me...

Butt arsenic

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I know it's gonna sound horrible but it's like drug dealers. Given enough time and they'll think of new ways to achieve. In this case good

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you guys think we can look forward to a cyberpunk future aesthetically or figuratively? Open question.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

there are hats that have IR LEDs in them that project onto the face to specifically fuck with facial recognition cameras

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

unfortunately it's not enough for china's tracking tech which apparently can track someone's gait and other characteristics for identifying

My internet service provider uses voice recognition...i don't like it so i use an old man voice when i 1st signed up.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you use the voice from the old perverted man from Family Guy?

Omg yes

HK wants to remain a capitalist democracy. China is... not one of those.

For some reason shark gif guy below me muted my response that Tiananmen Square was a protest for democracy & denied as happening at all

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

china will never let that happen, they are expanding, that seems to be their policy, i think they'd go to war over it, and what country 2/

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

is going to fight them on a battlefield over Hong Kong? Not the USA, that's for sure...they'll gobble up HK very soon and we cant stop em.

NASCAR used to do the same thing with paint schemes to defeat the body scanners so they could be out of spec with the car shape!

The U.S. Military has laser technology that scans for camera lenses and then uses high output lasers to burn out the sensors ...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Hong Kong definitely has the capability to build such scanners w/ counter op as they have a large presence for laser diode and LED mfg ...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... and electro-optics engineering. For example, Cree LED mfg. takes place almost exclusively in Hong Kong ...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On the fly? In a garage?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a counter op tech, it has to be developed on the fly in makeshift labs. They have the intel capital & mfg capability which are key

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The military also has microwave technology that makes people shit their pants

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well yeah, that too, except that microwave tech is powerful enough to cook their shit before it comes out. Read my follow up posts for HK EO

This is fake. There is no evidence to the claim they were blocking face rec. tech.

Twitter implemented a meme filter that bans people who use memes they don't like. The dystopia is here

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

When did they do this? Where can I read about this?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They started recently with memes surrounding Pepe and voter ID laws. You can find information on youtube

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Who fucking cares about Twitter?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well the reason they've implemented this is to get in line with Chinese and European speech guidelines which want to force the same stuff>

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

On all platforms Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, reddit, imgur etc etc. If people don't make noise when it starts they may never get the chance

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

i solved all my problems with twitter, by never using twitter

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The issue isn't twitter per say but rather that its setting a precedent that others will try to follow...unless its made a precedent not to

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just glue some IR LEDs under the brim of your hat. A small battery will keep it powered. And it is invisible to the naked eye.

6 years ago | Likes 291 Dislikes 3

That doesn't actually work.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

great for the prepared individual but no for the crowd.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We could also make these a new wave for fashion https://cvdazzle.com/ they hide your face from facial recognition It looks very cyberpunkish

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Probably one of the better bets.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You need surprisingly bright LEDs to make this work. (Unless you can aim directly into the camera at all times.) A couple AAs won't cut it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i think sexy cyborg created a tutorial for this

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Similar to a scene in Baby Driver

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most digital camera sensors have built-in IR filters

6 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

Most camera sensors I've seen are sensible to IR to some extent, despite of the filter. Checked with a TV remote.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The ones used for facial recognition typically rely on IR for night recognition. Security cams aren’t built the same way as commercial cams.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not the ones that do night vision. By filming IR, and often lighting up the surroundings with IR.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Most CCTV cameras have IR cut-filters. This is in place during conditions where there's a lot of light (daytime) and is mechanically

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

retracted during low-light conditions (nighttime) in order to increase sensitivity. Add in IR illumination, either on-camera or external

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

and you get amazingly clear B&W video at night.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How does the little LED light disperse the light enough to cover the whole face?

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Can use your cell phone camera to verify

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

LEDs make a lot of light that I'm more concerned abot it making you go blind

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Original comment was for IR LED, no visible light is emitted. If visible light is used they have glasses with them, your eyes don't get hit

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Those little dome LEDs have quite a wide angle. I'm fairly certain you could have just 2. 1 on each side of sunglasses for example.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To clarify, the point is to blind the camera with light towards camera sensor, not to illuminate the face.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the idea is to throw off the automatic brightness by having one part so bright the face is unrecognizabley dark. except HDR exists.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

HDR has its limits. If the light source is too bright HDR won't work.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

true. my thinking was if a dslr can show my face with the sun in frame behind me, they can get past "small leds" on a had.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We don't use HDR, we use WDR (wide dynamic range). Same diff, kinda, but for single-exposure video rather than multi-exposure still images.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

so many ways they could get around the proposed leds, including a brightness algorithm that ignores outliers. but are they implemented?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Simplest way for me to explain WDR is that the sensor actually has multiple sensor layers, which are used to capture multiple exposures

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We're getting the dystopia with none of the cybernetics and it bums me out

6 years ago | Likes 537 Dislikes 1

the cybernetics need the installable gun and laser parts finished first just hold on

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We have magic communication and information rectangles on us at all times. Close enough for now.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Won't even get to be a slave to a corporate dragon, it will be a mouse.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The good news is that cybernetics is right around the corner. The bad news is that governments and megacorps will be the only ones w access.

6 years ago | Likes 120 Dislikes 1

The better news is it will probably only take a week for tech savy ppl to break their software once they go public.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait does that mean I have to sign up to be a Runner to afford them? Street Samurai here I come!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I mean most runners would just steal them or know a guy who found a box that fell off a truck.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That doesn't make sense, megacorps will want to profit as much as they can on them much to the govs dismay

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

and they will, by 'leasing' the gear to you for the duration of your servitude. ever quit though and they just take it back. and no they >

wont even have to replace the limbs and parts they replaced because you clicked on an I agree button that said they dont.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought it was that movie with Katey Sagal.

Makers with a webhost?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a real thing designed by engineers. Look at it, it looks hideous.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or those facial tattoos that make the AI identify you as a banana.

Or the Rorschach face masks with lumps underneath to hide the shapes.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Keep in mind that it only works against one specific software.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What?

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I guess this is similar to the "sticker that turns everything into a toaster" thing. Fun stuff.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But like someone pointed out, it only works for a specific algorithm.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then they will use irblock filters. Gotta over saturate or burn out the chip itself. Maybe a microwave gun lol

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Big powerful laser will burn the chips and you can make em yourself with only a little electrical knowledge.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just take a fuckin hammer to the camera..

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

But that requires getting close to the camera in most cases and high risk. These folks can't buy a gun. And if you had 1 and got caught...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even walking around with a baton for low reach camera can get you in trouble and again you'll be forced very close. Other easy options?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At the ranges these are being used it would be pretty difficult to damage the camera sensors.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1000w laser, burn a camera chip at 100m, "made in a cave from a box of scraps"!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In all seriousness though, lasers are pretty powerful and camera chips are not suited to being hit with them so much.
