It’s not even real wood

I got BS wood imitation laminate. I pay $2500.

I use this floor skin in Fallout 76.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol I have that same floor. Shit sucks

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

SO cheap, you'll scratch it and lose you deposit!

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looking at houses in my area and all the flips have this same flooring. Not to mention the rest of the house is finished in builder grade garbage and the asking price is outright robbery.

Friend just redid his house with the "expensive" grey version of this ugly shit. He (professional landscape photographer) and his wife think it looks great. I just don't get it - looks like the waiting room at a car wash to me.

If anything, that floor should bring the rent DOWN. It's so ugly.

Having maintained rentals, this stuff is actually cheaper in the long run, only costs a little more than carpet and doesn't need replaced as often. They sell it as being fashionable but it's really a budget thing.

Wait, you guys are paying less than $2,500? The picture clearly shows three rooms.

Depends on demand and local job market. My last apartment I left in November was a nice 5½ for ~900 USD.

It's practically guaranteed that the outside of the place still looks like its out of 1980's, or somebody decided to "update" it by painting the bricks white with eithe black or dark gray accents. It'll be the ugliest place on the block. Yard is probably a mud hole, too, bc too cheap to drop some sod or reinstall rain gutters.

* 1980s
+ 1 though

When I was in college my flat was missing a structure beam under the bathroom. Like there was a dip in the floor you had to step over. And for the two years I spent there my landlord said "yeah I'll deal with it." He put spray foam under the carpeting when I left, saying: "Students don't need more than that."

It's also what 99% of the newly built houses look like right now. White walls, grey floors, black doors, boring as fuck

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Flipper floor. I see that all of the time on flipped houses. Flippers are a huge reason housing prices are out of whack.

I hate hardwood. Give me thick lush carpet

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Each to their own. I hate carpets & would much rather have hardwood with a washable rug that I can stuff into the laundry machine.

I grew up with a cleaned, shag carpet with a 3/4" undermat. It was a couch on the floor. Vacuuming was a blast, we could make shapes in it. Only issue was the brown/orange color

Maintenance at my apt complex told me the composite floor is just a thick mylar veneer.

I have this kinda floor in my apartment... on my first day moving in I accidently spilled some water while drinking but it was just a drop or two so I left it alone because I was too busy moving in. then an day later, I saw that it was peeling.... it wasn't even real wood flooring lol I had to go get some wood glue to flatten it down and make it look normal again.

Don't forget the location! It's in an area with 12 square blocks of the same exact apartments and no sidewalks, no trees, and no guest parking. But you can drive to the nearest bar / restaurant in just 15 minutes!

[hands you a brochure]
So you live in the San Fernando Valley.

I did! lol 💁🏻‍♀️

I have that floor. My rent is higher. :(

What region if you feel comfortable ?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

South western Ontario

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow this is wild ! I’m sorry it’s not more affordable. It seems we must all buy homes in the middle of nowhere to own one

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We don't even have that flooring, we have floors that are atrociously bad and our rent is 3k a month. 0 protections for renters in Alberta.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ontario is headed that way.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's so unfortunate. I wish there was any way to change things.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ím giving an upvote but really should down vote three increased rent

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have that crap thru my entire house. It looks like utter shit after just 3 years. Swollen and peeling near any water source and totally destroyed by my desk chair even though I have a protective mat between the wheels of the chair and the floor. It's straight up garbage. At least it was free but that's exactly how much it was worth. Nothing.

Sounds like you got the wrong type of flooring then

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 12

Really? I put this stuff down 9 years ago. I knew it was cheap and shitty, but I was broke AF after buying the house (super cheap/shitty place, but it was all i could afford). The carpet was absolutely wrecked, so i put down the interlocking floor, and its still fine.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You made it three years? Nice. Must have had a lot of throw rugs. Any areas with traffic show it in about 6 months.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

this flooring is cheap and easily installed but don't get it wet, the top is almost water impermeable but into the seams the moisture will warp the boards and breed bacteria and mold

1 month ago | Likes 90 Dislikes 3

Is this like Pergo? I hate that shit.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I seent it!!

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most of it is plastics throughout now .

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I had my dishwasher leak for months (I didn't know it) until it started coming up through those engineered floor planks.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

similar thing with me, the leak was behind the shower wall. soaked into the adjacent closet and bedroom planks. my ins. co. is handling it, and i'll be paying a deductible of $2,500

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it's so easy to install, then why is the exact same flooring in my apartment installed so poorly?
Oh, yeah, really bad installers. That makes sense.

1 month ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Wait you got new flooring, they just painted over mine! /s

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There are lots of factors including installation price and skill but also vastly differing quality grades and material pricing.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

AND whether or not the installers know how to use a measuring tape and a jigsaw.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If that's laminate flooring, then yes, what you said applies. But LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring is completely waterproof. Highly recommend it over laminate.

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

you are correct. mine is a thin wood veneer on pressed paper product - a water leak behind the shower wall ruined what i thought was only a few boards, but our insurance co. sent in a demolition team, tore it all up, and sprayed anti-mold and bacteria.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh my god fuck all that vinyl shit just get wood effect porcelain tiles

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Eh, we've been very happy with ours. Been very durable, looks good (to us anyway), and as mentioned is completely waterproof. As in all things YMMV.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ok good to know! Did you get click vinyl or was it glued down?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe it is click, but TBH, we had it installed by the builder when we built our house 7 years ago. So I'm not 100% on that.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had both LVP and ceramic tile and I greatly preferred the LVP. For one thing, it's warmer and softer on my feet. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to install, and you don't have to worry about the strength of the subfloor.

And don't ever drop anything heavier or harder than a tennis ball, either.

1 month ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

My floor is full of dents from dropping my dumbbells so many times already I’m scared how much I’m going to get charged lol

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Rubber workout mat in your future?

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I have a work out mat but sometimes I’ll drop one accidentally

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Pro tip: farm supply stores sell rubber mats for horse stalls. They're way cheaper and work just as well.

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Should probably air it out outside, in the sun for a bit and clean it first. https://www.reddit.com/r/homegym/comments/hp0xju/i_took_measurements_of_air_quality_with_horse/
