8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Isn't it illegal to keep a wild animal as a pet? i don't see any description (even in comments) of how you got her or where you live, tho.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It depends on the state, I'm in Michigan where owning a fox is legal. The specific breed of foxes are not found in the wild.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a string bred specifically for Domestication a while back

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know you, OP

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have a fox tattoo on your torso somewhere, it was a cover-up for another tattoo you previously had.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op is this true?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would like to point out that the URL for this post ends with ''Slut5''. Seems Like a wasted opportunity for a NSFW post

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

(adorable fox tho, 13/10)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you only knew the reputation foxes have in the furry fandom.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty marble, where did you get her? Do you have an enclosure built? Foxes are not house pets. Did you check your local/state laws?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I hope you've done the appropriate amount of research for her, they can live 10+ years and are a huge commitment.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've spent the last 5 years getting myself ready, I'm fully aware of what I'm getting myself into, I promise.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Awesome, i'm always worried people get a fox or any exotic on impulse because they're cute. You really have to love everything about them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right down to the way they smell and they alien screeching the sometimes do. I wish you all the best.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why are foxes being kept as pets? I don't get it

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

When you do it right they're incredibly rewarding, their characteristics and foibles can be great fun,you just have to know what you're doing

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

As a rescuer, I wish this trend would die out. Same with wolfdogs. They're wild animals and awful pets. Worse yet, we have to euthanize 1

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

them the second we find them. It sucks that anyone would pay a breeder and support this industry. 2

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

my aunt had a lovely collie wolf mix, her friend's dog had had a visit from a wolf :p the pup was the most obedient canine i've met 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

interesting enough he had golden orange fur. he used to sleep on top of his dog house like snoopy and howled at full moon. almost always 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

stayrd outdoors and was definitely a pack animal :) rip

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

stayed*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i do agree with you, wolfdogs should not be bred

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're going to be in for a surprise when they find out it's actually a dire wolf

8 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 1

Especially when their father gets beheaded and he's on the run and will be forced to kill him :(

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I awoke the dire wolf six hundred pounds of sin, was grinning at my window all I said is come on in.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Arya kidding me

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Haha

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

YESSSSS! THANK YOU!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So your saying it's actually a dragon?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Arts was an elf

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Arya* stupid autocorrect

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This isn't really a house pet for a normal person.... Just because it's cute doesn't mean it should be inside.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Foxes are known to be very sweet when they're young and to be monstrously awful pets when they reach maturity. They're not good pets.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

That describes Catahoulas, too. Still loved mine, as destructive as he was. Any pet, be it 'normal' or exotic, you must know what 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're getting yourself into. Would I get a fox personally? Maybe, can't do any more damage then Tim. They are loud though (but so was tim)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exotic is a fancy word for "pet would rather be outside because it's not domesticated, why did you put wild animals inside?!?"

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The Marble fox isn't a wild animal

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yep. Which is why I can never really like these kinds of posts.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As cute as foxes are, it really bothers me to see people creating/buying pet foxes when there are already so many animals homeless

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 4

You can't say "No, you can't have the pet you want because there's others that need homes." I mean that's kinda fucked up.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The difference is that "pet foxes" aren't really an established industry. They aren't even a real "Trend" yet. My concern is that with new--

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

animal trends, we get new animals without homes. Foxes would add LITERALLY A WHOLE NEW DEMOGRAPHIC of abandoned/lost/stray pet.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the shelter systems are already busting beyond capacity.I am concerned for what would happen if we added more to that load. It WOULD happen-

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it always does with new pet trends. I'm hoping this "pet fox" idea goes the way of the Degu -_-

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why have a cat or a dog when you can have both? Click to find out how this @op got a 2 in 1 pet with this "foxy" trick. @nerdyvets hate him.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

hate is a strong word, but I appreciate the clickbait title :P +!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The domesticated ones from Russia are spayed/neutered before purchase, & proceeds go to support the research facility directly.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is somewhat reassuring.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They're also genetically domesticated at this point, and the $15,000 price tag reflects it.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They still have many wild tendancies and require major lifestyle alterations to accommodate that. They're less wild than traditional foxes,

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but not nearly as domesticated as dogs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, stand corrected. So, more like caring for one of the more destructive dog breeds with a manic streak, probably.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She is a Marble fox and is 5 weeks old

8 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 4

Prepare for the struggle once it becomes self aware. Worst pet I've ever had, by far. Train her while she's young. Good luck!

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I want an update with in a few months form now

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like the fox and the cute thing you're holding ;D seriously you fine

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So, where do you get them? 'cause I need one about yesterday.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Do you have a large enclosure with high, deeply-rooted fences for a fox? Are you ready to change most of your life habits for the fox?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

5 weeks is too young to be away from mum :\

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Ye.

How good are the other four?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Now we're asking the real questions.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Where does one get one

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

As a rescuer, please don't consider getting a fox until you are ready to MAJORLY alter your life to accommodate it. They're wild animals 1

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

and the knowledge that if you ever surrender it, or die, or it escapes, animal control will almost certainly be forced to euthanize. 3

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

and need a lot of room to dig and root about. Big fences that are buried deeply into the ground (or else they'll dig under) 2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I suggest having a concrete slab pored and then buried and the fence going into that to truly prevent escapes. If they're gone they're gone.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are special breeders you get them from

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

What kind of enclosure did you build to accommodate the fox?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They let you have her at 5 weeks which is much too early.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much did you pay if you don't mind saying?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Probably around 300-400 at least thats how much they were a few years ago. Normal reds are typically cheaper around 150-200.
