Her career track has her taking on two major responsibilities by the end of the year at latest (though if she’s comfortable with the organisation it may be sooner), and the combined proposed salary uplift for both those responsibilities will put her over my salary.

We’re both hype AF for this. And the more I think about it, the more I’m sure that this hasn’t happened in either of our immediate families before.

I brought it up to some people in work and one guy asked “are you not threatened by this?” Like dude, no. Hell no. Why would I be? There’s only a net benefit for our household.

nicce. time to upgrade for her.

The most surprising thing here is that increased responsibility is leading to increased compensation

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I never understood being threatened. In a partnership, it's all 'our ' money. More money is good?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"We're both prostitutes"

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

threatened? Why should you be, if it were me I would shave and wear a nice lingerie for her

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My wife and I have traded off making the most money for 25 years. She is always happier when she is making more and honestly then so am I.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want my SO to make more money. I need help with my Lego habit.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My fiancee out earns me 2:1. I’m kinda glad because my salary sucks.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Look if my wife could support us on her salary alone with our over due stress id fully be happy to manage the home cook dinner and be ready with her favorite drink in a cute outfit when she came home.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My wife put earns me by about 50%. Couldn't give a shit. She is amazing and I am lucky to have her.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Time to become a house husband!

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My gf earns 3x what I do, and deserves every penny.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great attitude, and may you enjoy the added benefits!

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My wife used to make more than double my salary, which was awesome because we paid off all of our debt and started saving more. She left that job because it was toxic and we make the same now but get to wfh together and that is honestly better for us and our kids than the extra money

I, too, choose this guy’s wife.

1 year ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 2

Ok part of me clicked on this to see if the guy was unemployed

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I out earned my ex husband for years. He as always very salty about it - and never supported me.
I’m glad you support your wife - that’s the way it should be

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife has been out earning me since she graduated college.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not wearing my glasses and I was scrolling through pretty quickly and at first glance I briefly thought that top line said "My wife is ok crack" and I was like
"Damn dude, that sucks, but red is rad and blue is bad." Lol

My wife. :)

Tell my wife...

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife earned more than me for 9 years while I started my business. Now that's flipped. Marriage is a partnership. My wife mows the lawn and does all the outdoor stuff. I cook dinner and do most of the shopping. We share all the house work. Traditional gender roles don't matter. It's what works for the team.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

My wife absolutely out-earns me if she works full time (she doesn't because of our kids). And I'm fine with it—because in the field I'm in I'm doing what I like, and I earn top tier for that. I don't get people who have a problem that their significant other earns more than them. It's great, because they might be happy about it, and a happy partner is something everybody should like!?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife passed me a few months ago. Which is good because our property taxes are going thru the roof as well as every other thing...lol

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I make comfortably over 6 figures and my wife and my sister both out-earn me by large factors.. not a few thousands, but factors! They have the education to earn it! I like all the gifts I get :) lol

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife has out earned me since she got out of Uni. I knew she was a potential high earner when we meet and made that bet just in time to cash in. Now she makes double what I do. - Thanks to this wise choice I am moving into a 2000 square feet, 8 room apartment in a month.

Since she's on the right track, it's time to rail her.

…in a sundress

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's the least you can do with her working so hard

But no touching during the third rail

Change Star Wars to Jurassic Park and bang on.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My wife earns a bit more than me. I hope she earns enough I can be a stay at home dad! For our dog… 😂

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is my dream! I tell her all the time.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is my fiancé's dream as well! I work from home, lol. I know he just wants to be here with us all day

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But, what about you fragile masculinity?

1 year ago | Likes 249 Dislikes 6

That simply will not do. You should kneecap her like Tonya harding vs Nancy karigan

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Real question is when her friends going to claim she is too good for him and request she divorces him

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

He can wipe his tears away with hundred dollar bills

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ahh shit! Wait I'm not a bitch made Republican. 😌

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My fragile masculinity would be thinking "SWEET! I wonder if she'd get me that neon CP2077 for the bedroom!"

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

But now she can buy you more Legos

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

but she will be less sexually attracted to you for you are not the provider

1 year ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

I mean, my wife makes ~55% of the household income; neither of us could afford our lifestyle without the other. So really we're just the other's providers

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had to check the username there!

1 year ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 0

More of how she will react and how it will impact him and then he reacts. When the wife earns more she loses respect for him. Which hurts. So he reacts. Then everyone yells. Fragile masculinity!!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 31

If that's the kind of person she is, she wasn't a very good person to begin with. Further, even if she lost respect for him, he still chooses how he reacts to the situation. His masculinity shouldn't feel threatened even if someone stops respecting him. Her lack of respect is her problem. If she's chooses to be rude about his income, he can walk away without it being a "fragile masculinity" situation. If, instead, he turns whiny and passive aggressive about it, then "fragile masculinity" applies

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If my wife loses respect for me she'll have to do the cooking, scheduling, and housecleaning herself, plus lose half the household income. And a living and doting partner. Turns out cooperation and synergy is a good thing...

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I earn more than my husband and because I married a person and not an ATM it doesn't change a thing about how I feel about him.

Seek therapy for either your insecurity or misogyny... not sure which, but definitely one or the other

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It shouldn't hurt. The genders are equal. The people making them unequal are.... well, people like you, who spread that opinion in the world.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You’re so alpha

1 year ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It’s not me being alpha. My wife earns more and is made about it. Not me being fragile. But I guess my lived experience is fake

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, because as everyone knows money is the only thing anyone brings to the table.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Partner may not cook, may not clean, but let me tell you how they got that ring 🥰

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would looove it if my wife made more than me. Bonus points if she made so much that I can be a stay at home husband. Not likely, but one can hope.

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

That would be the dream. Give me an apron and call me a trad, uh, husband.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If that ever happens, you have to do the trope where you welcome them home wearing nothing but an apron. It's the law.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Manga mafia house husband. It's amazing

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry sorry it's called way of the house husband

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My wife has always outearned me. But, you know… She’s a doctor. She SHOULD make more than me. What’s BS is that I might outearn her in a few years because they don’t give her serious raises.

1 year ago | Likes 97 Dislikes 0

Mine's a lawyer, makes more than me. I've gained more than she has by % recently because IT management, yt dude, etc. But she's still the powerhouse. Other than that I try hard to do my part for the house and kids, physically and mentally.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I’m a doctor and my fiancee out earns me! When she got this new job, with only growth potential, I just about cried…from insane happiness! Watching her struggle with being under compensated for a shit job was awful. But that woman is a boss and knows her value and didn’t stop until she got what she deserved

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine too! And for good reason. I've been jumping around between random corporate jobs while she hones her career at a fantastic small company. Her success is my success. Plus I get to make jokes about being a golddigger.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I out earn my hubs. Because he switched careers to become a family man. He’s incredibly supportive and proud of me.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We’re all proud of you!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My ex made more than I (when she was working) and at first it was a bit weird, since I'd always carried the bills with my prior girlfriend. My current girlfriend makes more than I ever will and rather than worrying about it she's taking me to Disneyland for my birthday.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Awesome! I’ve never been… I hope you have a great time!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reminded me of something a bit different, how weird it felt that I earned way more than my ex's insurance broker mum, when I just had a part-time retail job.

The income difference between richer and poorer countries can be insane.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Landed a doctor, nice! Watch out for the cold thermometer, though

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Canada would take her.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I thought she’d be willing to move away from her family, we might even try… Living south of Canada is currently “uncomfortable”. She’s a doctor of Physical Therapy, and I work in Engineering (not an Engineer, but a BIM/VDC in the construction industry). Two STEM jobs, so we’re in demand… But she loves her family (despite them having voted for the guy who put us in this mess)…

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My cousins girlfriend is moving up with her mum who is a surgeon. You should look into it.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mines a Veterinarian, she out-earns me _and_ she only works 3.5 days a week. She hates finances though so I do the household financial stuff. Ours is a partnership - we each have strengths and weaknesses. Together we are stronger than apart.

1 year ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Exactly this! It's a partnership.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My friend is a veterinarian and recently got a big promotion and is now the medical director of a vet hospital. She almost didn't take the job because she wasn't sure she wanted to increase her work week to... four days a week.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It must suck to have to look at everyone's dogs 4 days a week! The horror!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One can only hope she survives.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep. Our deal is that I max out my 401K since my company offers 50% matching. That leaves me with practically nothing in take home finance, so she buys anything we need. She pays for now, I pay for retirement. We’ll never be RICH, but we’re comfortable enough, even in this shitty economy. Things are tight, but we’re not at risk of losing the house.

1 year ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

50% matching? That's insane, I'm lucky to get 4% right now

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure what a 401k is but I have a retirement annuity that my company puts double what I put in! Their retention level is crazy high. People were getting acknowledged for 10, 15 & 20 years being there the other day

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

401k is an American thing.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah… And no cap. That’s why I’m maxing it out every year. I put in $22k, they put in $11k. I can’t touch it ‘til I’m 60, but it should provide for a comfortable retirement. I don’t love what I do, but I do love where I work… We actually get benefits, AND still have the occasional pizza party. Just last week they mailed me 2 Carhartt jackets as “thank you” gifts.
