By the way, do you ever walk into a room and forget why? I wrote a dumb song about that this weekend. I hope you like it! https://youtu.be/eZOHQ48q6vE

The worst bird

Aren't blue birds territorial or is it red

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Beautiful. Grew up with Stellar’s Jays but these are equally pretty. Thanks for the color in a sea of red and pink.

Blue Jays are beautiful. They're also HUGE assholes that eat your garden.

These birds are smart and mean to other birds, but very pretty. Very mean to squirrels.

Blue Jays make the WORST sounds

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Blue jays are assholes. Had to save a baby robin from one this past summer.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

That baby Robin is going to grow up to be Bird Hitler. You should not have interfered.

We raised a jay that fell out of his nest. He was LOUD, but he as sweet. Would even fly back if we let him outside.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: blue jays are corvids. Smart af, like crows and ravens. Just not as goth.

They also mimic hawk sounds to chase other birds & critters away from feeders so they can have it for themselves.

Emo crow

Super aggro and territorial. I live out west now but anytime I'm in Ontario, they're super entertaining to watch. They fuck up all the birds

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well at least you still get stellar Jays or magpies depending how far west you are. The blues on the stellar are so pretty!

Corndog caught one & brought it into the house once. It was quite alive & very pissed off. Also kind of big. After much screaming it got out

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tree out front. Nest of blue jays. 5 babies 2 adults. All dick heads.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Corvid-19?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They're so mischievous. There's a bunch around our house and they play pranks on each other, the squirrels, and our dog.

My cat has a seeming truce with one in our neighborhood. He never pursues him seriously and he will sit there and CACK at the cat all day

They also eat other birds young like the filthy cannibals they are

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

In bird culture, this is considered pretty standard.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But does that really make them cannibals? Wouldn’t eating other bird species for them be the same as eating other mammal species for us?

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Technically, yes? But realistically it would be the same as us eating Neanderthals

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Maybe thats why they went extinct! They just tasted so damn good

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only if you're talking about other corvids. Their relation to random American birds is minimal.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They are also ASSHOLES. Beat up everybody at the bird feeder.

5 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

So the prettier it is, the more stuck up.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've always said: the more intelligent a species is, the more capacity is has for assholery. That's why we're the KING of the assholes.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Dude same. My gf loves Cardinals and the Jays always scare them away from our patio feeder.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone who has been maintaining a bird feeder for years, Jays are FAR from the biggest assholes out there. Black-capped chickadees

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

love to mob other birds and mourning doves are too big to care about any other birds' shenanigans.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah my mom gets pissed. Blue Jays and Starlings are shits.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My aunt always called starlings "slut birds"

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Starlings are massive agricultural pests too

(thanks, historical idiot who wanted to import all the birds of Shakespeare)
