The term "hauntingly beautiful" has never felt more appropriate...

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Wow I thought this was something to do with space and thought beautiful. Then I read what it was….

I've seen things... seen things you little people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion bright as magnesium

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What's a word for beautiful and terrifying?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

> Things that should be a war crime but aren't

and sad and beautiful. does that make it melancholy?

Is it a boy or girl?

It’s a terrible day, when a star falls from the grace of the heavens.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a beautiful video... other than the f*cking awfulness of what it actually is!

“MA! THE SKIES FALLIN!”

Beautiful but deadly

It's full of stars!

3 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 1

Beautiful in a horrifying kind of way... and horrifying in a beautiful way. Oh, sparkling stars of violating war conventions.

Dai…sy…Dai…sy…

This stuff falls on your skin and doesn't stop burning, you have to cut it off with a knife because water won't put it out.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Is that…phosphorus?! ?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

WP leaves a shitton of thick white smoke. Probably magnesium like they were shooting at the steel mill in Mariupol.

the aesthetics of evil

I hate that this looks so beautiful when it's so awful

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Sublime. A reminder that “awe” and “awful” come from the same place. Beautiful and terrible, at once.

"Awesome" does not mean good

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To be awesome used to mean to be a thing of great awe, puts people into awe, which could be both good or bad. Now it's mostly a good thing

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Was just going to comment that it was horrible but beautiful. This might be how villains are made.

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Terrific!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Comically, the first word you used, "sublime", also includes that very same dichotomy; terrifying yet beautiful.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That was entirely intentional.

i always tell ppl its a happy movie before watching with em. i usually have to buy them shots after

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I usually tell people " it's one of those movies you will sing it's praises then warn people not to watch in the same breath"

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe next you can introduce them to Made in Abyss, a tale about childhood friends hunting for treasure.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I fell asleep half way through. How did it end? I assume they found a happy little field of fireflies?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I drifted off towards the end but caught the bit at the end where he finds his brother at the train station in a happy reunion.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Awwww. That's sweet. Maybe I'll make it a date night movie this week. The missus likes sappy anime movies.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Y.. yea... yeah...

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

ffs..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_phosphorus_munitions

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Nah this is likely magnesium. WP is very obvious due to the clouds of its (very deadly) smoke it produces.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what I thought too. Have you played Spec Ops: The Line? This reminds me of an important part in that game.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

off topic... but are you a BattleTech nerd?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this white Ph or could it be something different, like Mg-based? Also would one be safe if he avoided those falling lights?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It could be something else, yes. But Russia has a track record of using Phosphorus Ammo. Syria for example. For effects, scroll down on wiki

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

But it really looks like white phosphorus, and sadly in this form not banned, to my knowledge.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I know that and how terrible the effects are. I wanted to know if one's okay unless he comes in direct phys. contact with the shining thing.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They are used to set everything on fire so, no you wont be ok when everything is on fire.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

except for the smoke, yeah, you should be. I mean Dont touch the 2000+ degrees burning thing

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So it seems to me that slowly falling shining chunks aren't very efficient weapon. Cruel, yes. Maybe the initial explosion hurls it faster.
