"DUI Taxi." Clever cops...

Oooh vewy shneaky lika pewrl harbor -○-

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Business in the front, urine in the back.

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

i think it's already been established that this was a marketing campaign about Drunk Driving

11 years ago | Likes 663 Dislikes 2

If "Choose your ride- DUI taxi." Didnt have it click, and you still dont understand. Then you must be really pretty.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Long-time speeder here: That's not a taxi's light bar, and should raise a red flag when approaching it from behind.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I think it's a service to prevent DUIs by giving rides home rather than a sneaky-sneak-fuck-you trickery type deal

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can still get a ride if I'm drunk

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

I've heard of them, this company will give you a free ride to jail!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

Hey everyone, this isn't entrapment since the cop isn't suggesting you break the law. It falls under the same idea of under cover cop cars

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Just like speeds traps and sobriety checks

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Another great way to take a ride: Take a picture of him while driving.

11 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 7

Judging by how close the other cars are behind them in the second pic, they were probably stopped when he took that one at least.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably get to sit in the back for free

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ha!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Could have been taken from the passenger's seat!

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 9

Cough cough ENTRAPMENT. Oh man, ahem, excuse me.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I asked a cop for a ride home when I was walking home from the bar last weekend. He was prick about it, but still gave me a ride!

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

I did this a few years ago after missing the last trolley. The cop wasn't very happy but gave me a ride & made sure I made it into my apt.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Who wants to be the designated drvier? Nobody, that's who!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Isn't it illegal to text/take pics while driving?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To all the "this should be illegal" guys, 1) Why? It's clearly marked. It's not like they're entrapping you by doing this, you deciding (1)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

to drive like an idiot because you don't see any cops is your own fault. 2) http://media.giphy.com/media/5xtDarzp5at2qwSTYoo/giphy.gif (2)

11 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 18

i'm crying

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

I wish I had more upvotes to give you. That was too funny.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Lmao

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

this should be comment #1

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

God damn thats was hilarious

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

"The only taxi that picks up black people" is how I'd have personally worded it but my god, yours was amusing.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I almost feel bad for upvoting this.... but I chuckled

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm on mobile and didn't realize there were 2 pics, so I stared at the first one for far too long before I scrolled down...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You have just made me question every taxi I see on the road now.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She Riff. He Riff's SO

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

DUI taxi

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

$20.00 for a DUI? Not bad!

11 years ago | Likes 302 Dislikes 1

Cheaper than a taxi.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If people really don't understand: a taxi ride home is $20, versus getting caught driving drunk which costs more like $10,000.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

so... just wondering, drunk driver/arrested criminal sits in the front seat next to driver..?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seriously though, what's that about?

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The idea is that a taxi ride would be $20, while a DUI would cost a lot more.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

$10,500 advertised on the front. So is that for the front passenger seat or what...?

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Look at the reply to the above comment.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

it was a joke.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

more like $12,000

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

$10,500 Actually

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lawyers doe

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm referencing what another post shows on the front of the car. It literally says $10,500, with the lawyer included.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

touche...touche...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I saw that car the other day, it was doing radar at a strip club.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Arizona, the sheriff tows around a giant trailer with his patrol car so you can't see him till you've flown pass.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

The sheriff. There's only one in AZ.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So just step on it and get outta there as he tries to chug after you with his trailer lol

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

You can't outrun radio waves.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well, you could, but then NASA would be interested in your driving/technology.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or helicopters for that matter.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's Fucking clever

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Hey how about not drive like assholes and you won't have to worry about sneaky cop cars

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A she riff?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"This ride is about $20.00." - OP's mom's tattoo most likely.

11 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 10

AYYYY

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh shit! When did the price go up?

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

For the group rate, maybe.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

20 is 20

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Officer Snyders mom. This cop has a strange way of venting

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP's mum sure is a yellow waggon.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that legal? I feel like a vehicle for that position has some guidelines? (Uneducated douche over here, I'm sorry.)

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 8

It's part of a drunk driving campaign. The line is something like "Which car would you rather ride in when you've been drinking?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's totally legal, he has lights on top, and marked sheriff on it

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Not to mention it's also "advertising" that it is only 20 bucks to call a cab versus getting arrested.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is a campaign against drunk driving, read what it says at the back, dui taxi.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And I think the front of the car says "This is $2,000.00" So which one would you rather ride in?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's actually really cool!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here, I made this link for you: http://tinyurl.com/PoliceDUITaxi

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

cop cars used to be very distinguishable so you could find them when you were in need of help. now they try to hide so they can catch you...

11 years ago | Likes 1623 Dislikes 118

alright, Drake

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I like easily distinguishable cop cars. I live in an unsafe part of town so I can get to school and when I see police I feel a lot safer.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now we have phones so that's not even necessary.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This guy gets the point.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Two words: profit center. Some cities have actually pulled "To Serve and Protect" off their cars.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, because speeders, drunk drivers, reckless drivers etc. should not be caught.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

yup thats what i said. 10/10 interpretation.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

$$$$$$$$

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Ireland they all have a big yellow reflective strip down the side so they're really easy to spot. http://imgur.com/Ry1EiSw

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah God forbid police "catch" people breaking the law.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

A lot of under cover ones drive mini vans and SUVs by my house. They also don't have the lights on top some of them. They kind of look 1/

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the UK they're still brightly colored, because they still realize their job is to help you, not catch you.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

This is a campaign against drunk driving its saying you can ride in a cop car or call ahead ahead and ride in a taxi

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually, it is illegal for them to hide to catch you. They have to be visible at all times. Some try to be sneaky and hide on hidden drives

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Troopers are very different from the police.

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

It's the difference between a prosecutor and a judge.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You realize this is an ad campaign discouraging DUI right?

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

When was the last time anyone ever thought "I need the police right now. I'm gonna run outside and look around for a police car."

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 6

I live in a small town/village or whatever the hell its called and that is actually realistic. They use this place to train cops.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

On that one mission in GTA IV

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Before cell phones were prevalent.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

So...20-30 years ago?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Late 90's is when Razor came out, and that was when cell phones were getting big. So 20 years at most.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This post is bullshit. Your inbox deserves all the spam it is getting. You pulled this right out of your ass.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

no i didnt and the fact that 1200 something people seem to agree with me makes ya look kinda dumb eh?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who cares how many people agree with you? Read the side of the car. It's an anti-drunk driving ad. Furthermore, disguised cop cars are-

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

wahhhh dont care. youre butthurt. point is cop cars should be visible so you can find em if ya need em

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Name one town in all of the united states of america where this isn't the case.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-normally used for traffic violations, not to 'catch people in the act' of whatever insidious nothing you had in mind.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're a jackass. Get informed before making long accusations about all cops without realizing thi is a stunt

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

What did OP accuse all cops of? Seems to me you're the jackass that is jumping to a false conclusion... :-/

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

k inform me then

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

yes. i understand the concept of what a taxi-cop car looks like. thank you. now please inform me as to why i am a jackass who isnt informed

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Actually this is, or was a campaign against drunk driving.

11 years ago | Likes 431 Dislikes 7

That doesn't make it any less true.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Either way cop cars around here are white with "police" in reflective white on the side

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No! People need to be mad that cops are "trying" to catch them. (Although, "them" only applies to those actually breaking the law...)

11 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 7

I think the recognition of a cop car is a preventative measure itself.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You! With your logic and reason! You don't even have a torch OR a pitchfork! You can fuck right the he'll off!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

He'll do what?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn phone :p

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cop cars around here have switched to the newer "low profile" light bar and small bumper so it is really hard to tell at a distance.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Read what it says at the back, dui taxi.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The cop cars in my area are fairly distinguishable, I guess it varies by area.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We have normal police cars and then a lot of unmarked that have no lights up top and the word police is blended into the car

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's the way it was in my town, until crime went up and truck cop cars and unmarked chevy's started to become more common.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"You" only applies if you're breaking the law. Strange concept, I know.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 12

The word "you" appears twice in the comment you are replying to.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Spoken like a true idiot.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Please, enlighten me.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not all idiots think only if you're breaking the law do you have something to worry about, but only idiots think that.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yet here you are, continuing to dodge actually answering the question as to why it is stupid, and only continuing saying that it is stupid.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

so my speeding ticket for going 9 mph over the limit is more important than finding a cop in a dire situation?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

This is one of the reasons there are limits to how many cars within a fleet can be unmarked? Not sure about the point you are trying to make

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

How often are there dire situations, and how often do people speed? They're not going to have cops just waiting around for dire situations..

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

.... THATS THE POINT OF A COP

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

it's to protect and serve. Not every thing a cop does is on call? Dont act surprised when you get pulled over for breaking the law? Come on

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I feel like, maybe, you would notice this car as a cop car in any circumstance that didn't involve you speeding up from behind the car.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And even then, you would immediately notice it was a cop car when a) you pass it, or b) you were pulled over for speeding past.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

ESPECIALLY considering it says "SHERIFF" in massive fucking letters on the back.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

When was the last time anyone ever thought "I need the police right now. I'm gonna run outside and look around for a police car."

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

when was the last time a drunk driver went "theres a cop! im gunna be sober for 30 seconds and drive perfectly"

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

That's one way to avoid answering the question, I guess. You should consider politics.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Drive sober? Probably not. Slow down and not pass the cop, then take the next exit off the highway and take back roads home? All the time.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

but drunk people trying to act sober can be hilarious (or disturbing)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That might reflect a change in focus away from public service and toward public control, and revenue generation.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 16

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Just so you know, the role of the police has never been to serve the public. It's to enforce laws. Most laws happen to benefit the public1/2

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

but they're not there to serve you (the public)

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

And that's a shame, considering my tax dollars are what makes their jobs exist in the first place.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah your tax dollars also pay the FBI, CIA, and any other agency, they aren't your servants either. Your taxes are your payment for 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Well you could not pay them and have vagrants, trolls, and all sorts of ne'er do well.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It was a PR campaign made in the 50s for LA.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The link doesn't say anything about it being a lie. In fact, it implies it expresses PD ideals. I think you are creating semantic separation

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The only people that would whine about this would be those who are doing something worth catching.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 9

I really enjoyed the social commentary more when I misread "doing" as "driving."

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

no. you are mistaken. this argument ist just like saying "i have nothing to hide" about the nsa, which makes people guilty just for hiding.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 10

Not particularly. In this specific case, if it weren't an advertisement... What is there to actually be upset about? (Serious question btw)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

There is nothing to be upset about there are many different types of police force and there are still distinguishable cop cars. OC is dumb.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ive already replied to one idiot comment like this im not doing it again

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 13

But... you just did.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Small neighborhood police vs. highway and high density police. You're ok with drunk drivers being able to spot cops and avoid them?

11 years ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 28

Yes.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i dont think the drunk is gunna notice either way

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

People you can still be "too drunk to drive" due to reaction time impairment and still sober enough to spot a cop car

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Not enough people realize this...

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup, think about taking medicine. Over the counter medicine can be druggy enough to impair motor skills while letting you do anything else.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's some tumblr-grade retarded argument. "Cops should be more distinguishable for when you need them." "OMG, YOU SUPPORT DRUNK DRIVING!"

11 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 13

Cops are still very distinguishable. There is a definite need for undercover cops in order to maintain peace.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well considering that we're talking about drunk driving, looking at the impact this would have on drunk driving is perfectly reasonable.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The whole paint job is an ad against drunk driving so I think it's understandable he used it as an example of someone who would avoid cops

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yup, 100%, ok with that, because guess what, someone truly drunk won't notice a cop, or care.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes, I agree completely, for profit policing is wrong!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that Legal?

11 years ago | Likes 405 Dislikes 30

They roll around on unmarked cars so I don't see how this would be any different.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To drive and take pictures? No.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

In some states there are laws about unmarked cars. This should fall into that category but depends on the state.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure you can all it "unmarked" when it says "SHERIFF" in bold on the side?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah good point. Says taxi, but "DUI Taxi". A good defense lawyer could raise a lot of stink about it but doubtful it would go far.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They are the law, everything is legal

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Technically yes and no. Could be brought up as not non identifying police car if he tried to stop someone but there's no real regulation.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The police drive all sorts of cars but they're usually marked like this one is and some times they're unmarked.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, but they typically still have to have municipal plates.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In BC they use actual commercial vehicles like ladder trucks as speed traps. It's all dependent on local law.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Absolutely.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It borders on entrapment.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I will make it league!

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yes, it is a marked car

11 years ago | Likes 187 Dislikes 0

In upstate NY, we have unmarked Suburbans for police vehicles. Is this not normal?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here in GA we've got unmarked Chargers or Crown Vics. Its rare in my area to see a Police SUV of any sort.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's normal. A lot of departments have recently started limiting the number of unmarked cars. Our chief personally doesn't like them....

We have them in Northern VA as well, more of a scare tactic, than trying to sneak around.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Funny, you'd think they have ads against drinking and driving.... okay, I'll go, no need for violence.

Where I live, you can't be pulled over unless the Cop car is clearly marked and POLICE is visible from your driving perspective.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They can't park out of sight for speed traps, either. Must be completely visible.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And marked units are supposed to be very conspicuous. Not inconspicuously half disguised as a taxi. That being said, it's a good message

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There are laws about how undercover cars are supposed to look as well as what percent of a fleet can be unmarked.

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

There are state-to-state standards and guidelines for fleets at different (1/2)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

jurisdictional levels, but I'm unaware of a single "law" dictating what's permissible. (2/2)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What laws? It's not an undercover car. It's a clearly labeled patrol car. Police cars can be whatever color they wish to make them.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And the local area I'm in uses seized sports cars from drug dealers as the unmarked cars. They do no external modifications.

Depends on the state. In my state, Local, County, and State cars have a a limited color option to pick for their cars.

From the back, one could make the argument it doesn't look like a traditional cruiser (like the front half)

Neither does the local police department's Charger car.

This car is specifically marketed towards discouraging drinking and driving. I've seen several just placed in a parking lot as advertisement

Yes it is. I was just making the point there are regulations that vary by state as to how cop cars are supposed to look

publicly available? (3/3)

No very true and I wasn't going against what you said. I'm wondering whether the cop in this cruiser would be able to go around (1/2)

arresting individuals or whether it's used only for advertising purposes now... Are the percentages of how many that can be unmarked (2/3)

Federal laws or state laws? And that car isn't unmarked. It's clearly a sheriff's car. They just chose a deceptive color scheme in back.

...means that if a solid red light is displayed forward from a cop car, you're required to stop.

I'm pretty sure it's state law. The only way you can tell newer Hawaii cop cars is the blue bulb on top; they have no other markings.

Some federal, mostly state. Example: some states are red/blue lights, others blue only. Also, CA has the solid red light provision- which...

WHICH........???????????

I'm not saying this is illegal. But there are regulations on how they look. Not like they are going to cite themselves for not following tho

1) Well, if it was illegal someone could still sue about it (and probably would). I'd guess the laws you're thinking of are state specific.

Well yeah but if they are not following the regulations then people can get off on charges that arose because of it potentially.

2) May come down to the definition of a "marked car". This might be a the grey area in whatever state it is. Or it's illegal. Who knows :)
