The other half are teachers, now working as stay-at-home parents, with no prospects of returning to such shitty working conditions.

Well, guess I'm in that other half... Thanks covid

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't earn a ton more, but my work load was reduced by like 60% and I get more days off.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the worst things in the working world is having a job you like that pays you well, and seeing it devolve in to a retail type hell.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm curious who these people are that they surveyed because they must have surveyed only out-of-touch rich people to get this result.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pfft I wish. I’ve been applying like crazy, but changing career fields is tough. No one wants you if your skills are specialized.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Making 10,000 more a year with up to 4,000 in yearly bonuses and less hours. New boss just wants me to keep the place from burning down. ez

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If the pay was completely random, half would earn more than before.

The Great Resignation.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Dumbest headline ever. The other half earn less? The same?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yet they're still taking home less buying power with the dollar becoming worthless

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wonder how many of them will be able to avoid lay offs that are inevitably coming due to costs rising and profits shrinking… ?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started a new role in November. Much better money. Less responsibility. Still remote.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thats odd that I have yet to meet 1 of these people making all this money from our government. Everyone I know that needs help is still poor

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who took this survey? Because this is not the case of regular Americans

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You can always keep bettering yourself and trading up as you get new skills. This is always happening and not a bad thing.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those are the ones who quit. Many of us are still unemployed from 2020.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can confirm. About 36% more.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

40% increase year one. 5% raise last year but moving up again this year and still get to WFH!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

BEANS! They're beans now.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Survey Suggest" translates to, "I made this shit up".

4 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 7

Well when you find a better job you have to quit the last one so it's probably technically true.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Or work both jobs.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, this is "Of the people who switch insurance providers, the average savings is $400!" No shit, that's why they switched!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep. Quit my shitty company for a 75% INCREASE in pay! Fully remote!! I didn't know how GROSSLY underpaid I was til I started looking.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Take that "quitters never win and winners never quit"!!! Fucking PsyOps used to control us all!!!! (/s /ns)

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 8

I guess my sarcasm wasnt clear enough....jokes people...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

And then you have people in the other direction that think they run the place just to realize they were just a number and their presence…

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Only tolerated not necessary. And you have people that think if they don’t get promoted after 2 weeks that they’re getting shafted and quit.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The math checks out.

I ran in December 2020 and it was the best decision I ever made, because otherwise I'd be ashes in an urn on my parents' mantelshelf now.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No matter what, always take care of yourself first both mentally and physically.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Changed jobs recently and got a big pay bump, more than I asked for. Better benefits and better work environment as well.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I worked for the same place for 16 years, worked my way up the company ladder (construction industry) from in the field 1/3

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/3 To management, was consistently underpaid with little or no bonuses (bonuses are common in construction) I left that company in Aug 2021

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3/3 income increased by 45% BEFORE monthly bonuses- previous company had one yearly bonus that was equal to or less than monthly bonuses

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ALSO got away from horrible company culture and poor treatment of employees, Some really great people who will probably also leave soon

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, got a 30% raise just moving roles. The perks are a bit worse, but I'm away from a shitty company so that's a plus.

4 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 1

What perks are worse? Would it be not-as-good health benefits? Or, not as many Paid Time Off and paid sick days?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

15% increase for me, and far less responsibility. For this role I don't even have to carry a cell phone if I don't want to. Such bliss.

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

30k more, wfh, and also away from a terrible company. New company just dropped 5k into everyone's 401k b/c they had a good year.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Husband quit his job -inventory at used car place- to study to be a paramedic- he's doing really well in classes so far

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same. 30% more just by moving companies and now I'm interviewing for a position that's 48% more. Going from junior to intermediate.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Nice! I got a 32% increase and a creer growth plan implemented from my work because I received a 25% increase offer from another company. >

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

< Definitely pays to know what other options are out there

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a huge change for the better. My employer had been voted worst company to work for 3 years in a row now...

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The only raises I've ever gotten have been insulting, a dollar an hour here and there but mostly 50 or even 25 cent increments. I've...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...secured five and ten dollar an hour pay bumps from my last position while starting with a new employer more than once, though.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

30% raise plus a wild increase in benefits and much less toxic work environment here. But oh the bureaucracy - so frustrating.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I get this. It’s the same trade-off I made 10 years ago. Hang in there if you like the new job, though. You can learn how to subvert (1/2)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2) or circumvent the bureaucracy over time.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad to know there's hope, thanks!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have made a 570% raise in the last 6 years job hopping every year. I went from 35k to 200k.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Woah what field are you in?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I second this. What field?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not at 200k but I went from making 40k as a graphic designer to 125k as a senior user experience designer in the tech field in 3 years.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And the other half?

4 years ago | Likes 423 Dislikes 4

also earning more money.

The other less than half*.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not everyone can succeed every time. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Broke and taking side gigs to keep the lights on, thanks for asking.

The lucky few who stayed the course were rewarded with Pizza Parties

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who cares, they are poor

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

They had to take the first halves lower paying jobs.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Got replaced by the other half as more skilled labor appeared for better wages

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For what it’s worth, you stepped out of a position that was killing you, and that takes strength in its own right

I'm in this comment and I don't like it.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Prove it

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nah, we're "essential"

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Technically less than half. Though it doesn't say by how much. Could be 55/45, could be 80/20.

4 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

I'd assume it's close to half if they said "half", otherwise that'd just be plain wrong

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Media using technically correct but misleading phrasing? NEVAR!!!

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

But if it wasn't close to half that wouldn't be misleading, that would be entirely false. They fib, but they don't call 20/80 half

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

They don't say "close to half" though, they say "more than half" which could still be 80%.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some took pay cuts to stay remote or to bail on a toxic work environment. Also a lot quit with no backup plan.

4 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 1

I left a toxic job that made me want to kill myself. Earning much less $$$ now but MUCH happier.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Same boat here. Well worth it tho IMO

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0
