Bullshit was proposed.......

....and bullshit was called

FP Edit - I can't find the original post where all this came from so I guess the bullshitter backed out. As for the person that called the BS, good job and I hope you see this as I can't remember your Imgur name.

Impossible. You don't even start to pay student loans until after you're done school.

Cool, but I couldn't imagine caring enough to make an entire post calling them out

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

I have that shit cached. He made the post private here: http://imgur.com/BlWGpZv Poster is http://imgur.com/user/ihateyoumr1o1

Well the advertisers are smart enough to get shit like this to the FP, they earned it!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry I was a bit shaky this morning :/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I knew it was an ad when I saw that weird URL for "checking your credit".

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, banks can and will sue you for student loans https://studentloanhero.com/featured/being-sued-by-debt-collector/

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

A 601 is bad? Mine is 200 points less than that... all medical ;~;

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Every time you check your credit score it drops. It drops period no matter who checks it. God knows why but that's how it works.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

LASSAAAAAAANNNNN PAAARRRTTT TWWWOOOOOO!!!!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Too many Ns.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sue the bank if they approved a loan with an invalid signature. You didn't sign, you don't owe. Get a lawyer.

8 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 16

That's.. not realy the point of this post, it is pointing out that the other post was fake

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 2

Ah, I see. I only read about halfway down..... My bad.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Mine kind of did this. They told me they were paying* (*some. The rest were loans I was responsible for. I found out at graduation)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea I'm pretty sure my parents pushed me into college to claim my dependency and education credits. Could have waited and got larger grants.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why'd you blackout their name? Maybe I want to go upvote this so more people know

8 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

Its gone. I (and im sure many others) reported it and it was gone not long after it hit the FP.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I also posted on Reddit r/quityourbullshit and they have a rule so the originator doesn't get doxxed.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

That's probably a good policy...

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just because it's available doesn't mean people know about it. I didn't. The post very well may be fake, but that part is a very weak point.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 20

If if you don't know that it's available free, posting the url of a paid service in a sob post is suspect, at best.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Well, I've seen the commercials for free credit reports, but having actually dealt with those services, I know "free" has some caveats.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

Well, as a rule of thumb, anything that has a commercial out involve somebody trying to get money from you.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

*Even if

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Fun fact, banks can't sue you for student loans.

8 years ago | Likes 501 Dislikes 87

Fun facts are not fun unless they are facts. Don't make shit up.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is objectively false.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Incorrect advice much?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Congratulations, you are officially an idiot.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

https://studentloanhero.com/featured/being-sued-by-debt-collector I'll put this here to make it easy to find. Credit to @vancerefrigerator

They can still garnish can't they?

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I suppose I should've clarified my student loans were all subsidized/unsub through the fed (US) govt and then go through a 3rd party

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They can sue you and they can garnish if they win. This guy has no idea what he's talking about. Source: collections paralegal

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

no, only government loans can garnish

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 10

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha... breath... hahahahahahahaha. Oh, so naive.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

A court settlement between two private parties can be enforced by garnishment. Happens all the time with child support.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Used to work debt collection on auto loans. Better belive we garnished

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, banks actually have to pay off your student loan for you and also give you a million dollars.

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 3

Man, that fact was fun!

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

And a handjob!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

his comment is so full of ignorance that I imagine your rebuttal is hurr hurr college isnt a right/I paid mine etc etc

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm just exaggerating his incorrect statement into an even more incorrect statement, but to comical levels. Not a right fact, a fun fact!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Seriously, this guy is full of it. Google student loan lawsuit. This happens ALL THE TIME. Don't listen to this horrible financial advice

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Depends where you are. UK loans are written off if you don't pay them back after X years

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here, but it's like 25 years. Good luck getting a mortgage in the meantime

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They don't affect your credit rating in the UK.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not such a big deal here, repayments are taken from earnings like a tax and if you're earning below the cap there's no charge at all. >

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No minimum payment means no risk of defaulting on said payment so it's not such a big deal for lenders.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just never take any advice from imgur is good advice

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure if I should listen to you or not

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

you have learned

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The free credit report does not include your score. If you want that, you either pay or go with a "free" site that uses you to make money.

8 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 12

You can in the UK using experian, sign up for a 30(?)day trial, and cancel.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also most credit card providers provide your score for free if you have an account with them.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, just checked mine and was gonna say this. I went with myfico.com.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a Discover card and they send me a report every month. I don't love the card and rewards, but I keep it for the report.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My bank gives a monthly score update.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You bank also has it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Credit karma is def free

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I use credit karma. I think it pays for it with giving you credit card and loan offers. But they are pretty unobtrusive.

8 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

i love credit karma. my scores suck ass because im a dumbass but its helpful to say the least if you're tryning to rent

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's an estimate based off publicly available info, not an actual score pull. They're kinda accurate, my real on ended up being better!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They seem to do really well, at least for me. Both of the calculation methods give the same score.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ahhaha it scored me 50 points higher than my bank pulled me for my mortgage, so that was supes embarassing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ouch that sucks, hopefully you were still able to get it! Credit scores suck nuts and I wish so much didn't rely on them

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bumped me up a litte percentage wise for my mortgage. I almost had a 2.5, think I finished at a 3.0. still, pretty good.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My bank now gives my score once a week.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

What bank is that my friend

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Both chase and capital one do it. Called creditwise or something. I bank with Chase and my car is financed through Capital One.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wellsfargo started doing that recently

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Discover puts your credit score on your bill. So you get it monthly which is nice n

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not necessarily banks, but Citi, Amex, CapitalOne, and Discover all give free credit scores.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Capitalone and USAA do it for me. Capitalone is more accurate.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah I have a capitalone CC too and I get it. I forget how often they allow it to be checked though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyday. Only updates every 7 days though

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use Capitalone. Works well and the simulator is informative.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love the simulator
