A 5-year old UK girl wrote a letter to Pizza Express, asking them to stop using plastic straws, and they did
The girl, named Ava, begged the chain to ban them, as they're bad for animals. The chain agreed with her, and started to ban them from all 460 of their locations and replaced them with biodegradable paper ones. In case you can't read the letter, it says:
"'To Pizza Express, my name is Ava. I am writing because me and my brothers eat in Pizza Express a lot. 'When I get my drink it always has a plastic straw in it. I am writing to please ask you to stop using plastic straws as they are very bad for animals. They can get stuck in their mouths and noses. 'Could you only use straws if people ask for them as I don't want any animals to get sick."

New parking meters in downtown LA are collecting change for the homeless
These colourful meters collect coins for the C3 Alliance, based in Skid Row, to help the homeless in the area find housing.
This initiative is only in one area, but the hope is to expand it to other neighbourhoods in the city
