I thought BF1 was a sign of EA getting better, now it looks like the last decent game they will ever make.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Indie developers still make good single player games, I use gog a lot. Lots of good stuff there

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

man its almost as if this is such a small population of games out there, and most, if not all of it is benign microtransations.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can't remember the last time I bought a game, and this is pretty much the reason why. I'm tired of cut corners added in as paid DLC.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Incredulous amount of money, eh?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you... I had to scroll so far to find someone that had an issue with that lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Steam reviews have your back. Have no fear, "OVERWHELMINGLY NEGATIVE" is here!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I like Shadow of War. You're not pushed to buy anything at any point. And it's not in your face like other games would do it. I usually

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

forget that you can even buy anything most of the time

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Hate EA so much. My all time favorite company is hopefully not in their killing list: Bioware.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry bud but they gunning for them with andromeda

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Get Wolfenstein.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Getting back into Fallout 4 after launch the creation club doesn't bother me. Below that option is regular mods on Xbone and there's (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Thousands for free. The only thing that annoys me is the 2gb total mod limit but it's forced creators to get more creative with space (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Try survival mode, never appreciated how lush the environment was.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I'm playing with a few mods on to make the game harder and it's a genuine nightmare.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I did my part! I just bought Wolfenstein 2 and so should you.... bruh, it doesn’t even HAVE a multiplayer

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yet you all would start bitching if they raised the base price of games, which would help alleviate the micro transaction some

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

this, 1000x this. games cost money to make.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't be naive. Games aren't exactly losing money. With no microtransactions and no DLC bullshit, they'd still be rolling in the cash.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I’m so far behind that by the time I get to a game it has a collected version of all the content.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

cheers to that

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only way to buy SP games is the year after they release when the DLC inclusive version comes out. Elder Scrolls and Far Cry Day one tho

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Having bought and played shadow of war. Microtransactions made absolutely no fucking difference because it's a single player game.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well passive multiplayer, but seriously, I had so much money at the end I could just buy 50 of the silver chests in a pop.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What pissed me off is that there were no folders or organization options in your garrison.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I fear this combined with developers going after the e-sports market. Is going to destroy SP games.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Lots of indie games are picking up the slack though. Not that indies are all priceless treasures, but they got some good stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a SP gamer, I'm not worried.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The single player genre, there are tons of single player games and more to come. What's dead is the co-op genre.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Idk, Cuphead seems to be a good sign for co-op

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Incredulous

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Go play deus ex. Or hotline miami. Or enderal. Or stardew valley. Check steam for sp titles.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

Mankind divided has microtransactions, though.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

necessary? no. so ignore them. like everyone else

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

+1 for enderal goddamn that was a good game

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey guess what Shadow of War didn’t require you to buy loot boxes.

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 10

Everything about that game's mt system screams "experiment for future insidious plans"

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

it shouldn't even be in the game

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 4

But they ALWAYS have an impact on game design. The entire system is designed to psychologically bludgeon you into buying more

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Justifying it in that fashion only encourages it. Loot boxes should no place whatsoever in a SP game.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Then why are they allowed in MP games? For starters its underage gambling made popular by streamers in CSGO.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because nobody wants to regulate them like gambling yet. Supposedly the UK had something in the works regarding it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There was an update this morning actually - items that could be sold on might be considered gambling but there's little traction otherwise

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same publisher also tried to charge for DLC of a character based on one of their employees who died of cancer. Despicable.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They still need to pay the employees who designed that dlc

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The employees did it as a tribute to their friend who died. It isn't uncommon to do in games. Why should the publisher get to charge $5 per?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was meant to go to a fund for the family. But a bunch of reasons made that impossible so they dropped it and put it in the game for free.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Correction, a portion of the proceeds would go to his family, but only on sales in most of the US and not beyond. Profit was involved.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nintendo is doing ok. Worst they do is file dmca claims. Still make amazing single player games too.

I was wrong I apologise

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That really doesn't matter terribly much. Nintendo still consistently remembers that games have to be fun. That is why they still profit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because that's what matters, right? Not the quality or gameplay of games, it's gotta be 4k or bust?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Game prices haven't adjusted with inflation rates for a while, would it be better to have no micro-transactions and $100 games?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You mean the $100+ games we actually have, because most $60 games are a fraction of a complete game? You're defending the people scamming you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wages for employees aren't going up, just other development costs.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree but single player games aren't dead. Horizon zero dawn, nier automata, the lost legacy, pyre, so many good single player games!

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I found some extra lore for Nier earlier today and it fucked me up all over again. Spoilers: https://mintychu.dreamwidth.org/tag/script

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm hesitant to read it. It already destroyed my Will to live just playing the game

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is a happy ending...of sorts. The sorrow is the good kind, the cathartic kind that makes you appreciate things all the more.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you gotten all the serious endings? (A through E)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Witcher 3 laughs at your negative outlook and I played through all of Shadow of War without even knowing where to go to buy loot stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If you buy orcs I think you'd lose interest in the game rapidly. The game is balanced to play without them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let people who want that shit pay for it and those who don't go somewhere else with their money.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Horizon: Zero Dawn. Prey. Yakuza 0. Persona 5. Zelda BOTW. All this year, all microtransaction free, all great. Support them!

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

BotW has DLC, tho, with no end to it in sight.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Botw only has the same kind of dlc that Nintendo games have always had. It's what DLC should be.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

HOLLOW KNIGHT

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm so glad Yakuza is catching on. Kawami just came out and 6 will be out soon. I have 6 on my Japanese account and it's insane.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus Dishonored 2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which gets bonus points for being cheaper than most triple A games today.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I don't think we should give huge praise to literal reboots on older franchises. Not that the game isn't great, but if we're using them--

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-- as examples that the game industry is still healthy, then we'll see a LOT more Battlefield 32s, COD 50s, Halo 67s and Assassin Creedses.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check out Nier Automata if you haven't already. Also a really solid game and vindication for Yoko Taro and his work imo.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I hadn't changed my top 10 games list in 10+ years, but Nier:Automata took #2 immediately, P5 took #4.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was so wonderful to see what Taro could do when paired with a powerhouse like Platinum. I hope they make more together.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm 10 hours in and so far it's amazing... I've never played a JRPG(?) before either so it's all new to me

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It doesn't quite fall into usual JRPG elements, though it does have some. Big thing is don't think you are done the first time credits roll.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

there are 26 endings, 5 of which are serious story endings (21 joke endings you'll run across) It is a great journey though!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's right there's no great single player games anymore. Zelda botw, Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Metal Gear Solid 5, those don't count.

8 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 7

Even then, Shadow of War is a good game. Same with Mankind Divided which had MTs. Its easy to be righteous but MTs dont do anything to SP.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nier Automata was incredible

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

An irrationally multiplayer-averse publisher, a studio that pays half the wages of US studios, pass, and Konami is leaving the industry. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not badmouthing any of them necessarily. They're just very far from the norm. H:ZD is really the only particularly good example there. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MGSV was alright. I didn't actually finish it tho. Horizon was pretty cool. The others are from franchises I don't play.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was a good 200 hours for me. Got to 70% completion before I decided to move on to another game.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually, I did play Witcher 2 but I didn't like it much. Although I hear 3 is better.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"There are no great single player games anymore. All these single player games I listed do not count, just because." What?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Sarcasm is hard

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Half of the games you mention are from 2015.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

South Park fractured but whole, The Surge, Evil Within 2, cuphead, shadow of War, Outlast 2 and Assassin's Creed Origins

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also hell-blade, that game was amazing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Persona 5,Nier Automata,Cuphead,Divinity Original Sin 2,Nioh,XCOM 2 expansion, Mario/Rabbids. Wolfenstein 2 and Mario Odyssey are promising.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

But don't get me wrong witcher 3 is one of my favorites right up there with dark souls I just don't like how far this is getting.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's bad, certainly. It just helps to remember that it's a small number of companies doing it to relatively few high-profile games.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If those last two pan out to be as good as they look, that's almost one great single player experience per month this year.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Most of these are Triple A titles. Many more offerings if you dive into indie developers

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Persona 5 was so damn good

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree. That and Nier are definitely my games of the year so far - hard to pick which I like more than the other.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And no new 3D Mario in sight... Switch doesnt sell anyway.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

So we're just gonna forget that Odyssey is happening this Christmas? Yeah? Okay then.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

It's happening this Friday

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's happening the day after tomorrow, actually.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Oh, that early? Neat, thought they'd be waiting for the Christmas sales to kick in.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All old games. I just bought the witcher 3. That game bores the shit out of me. Its like a less crappy dynasty warriors. Gwent ftw though.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 10

Botw came out this year?!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You aren't alone friend

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Christ its either you like something over popularised and it goes unnoticed or you dont and people go through 19 accounts downvoting you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Valve gave up making Half Life 3 a long time ago, bub. Nothing about that changed in 2017.

8 years ago | Likes 154 Dislikes 5

I guess they feel that the writer of HL2 releasing a story synopsis of the planned HL3 story was the final nail. Glad it never happened.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 9

There was something of a final confirmation though earlier this year, when an old employee spoiled the storyboard

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

From what I have heard with the amount of hype they have it will always be a disappointment so why do it.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

To give closure

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We got the story leak that is pretty much the best we'll get, it's bittersweet. Laidlaw gave the best ending to thw story IMO.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because ending on a cliffhanger and then telling your players to fuck off is kind of a shit thing to do, really.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Dota 2 has been the most profitable game for them for years now. And its Free...

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Not to mention addictive.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

6k hours here....

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Free." Shelling out $60 for heroes and boosts is still buying the Kool-Aid.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 57

Retard

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thats LOl not DOTA

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

I think you are thinking of LOL or heroes of the storm m8... not dota2, dota2 is a free game.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

What are you even talking about?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

You have to pay for heros now?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No, think he's just talking about buying cosmetic stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

You've never played a game of dota 2 in your life.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

If these replies are the general community attitude towards mistakes or lack of knowledge, I don't think I'd want to play.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 23

Noone was rude mate. You were shooting your mouth off about a game you knew nothing about abd people were just correcting you.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You're just salty someone called you out for posting bullshit. You chose to spout off ignorantly. Suffer the fallout.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

This is where Indies come in. Kick-start and back as much as you can, support publishers like TinyBuild and Devolver as they help small...

8 years ago | Likes 290 Dislikes 13

Fuck Indie games, fuck kick-start. That's another way for companies to sell promises and check out before it's complete.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Ayy, Devolver. They had a hand in Enter the Gungeon. Love that game.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love me some Devolver

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've backed so many on kickstarter and indie-gogo. Of the 30+ I backed, only 2 were quality releases. Everspace and Earthlock

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don't forget the freeware devs who contribute their own valuable time to create and maintain sometimes exceptionally complex awesome games!

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Remember back when everyone had a Nintendo but there was a smaller PC game market of really cool stuff? 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The indie market is like the PC market from 1998. Small teams making great stuff that doesn't need to make a billion dollars. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Forest is awesome and gets better every month or so

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sometimes they get bought by big companies so then it gets more complicated

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It does and ita fair enough, game development is expensive. Unfortunately when you want to work full time in it and get bought out...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You have to do what the big CEOs want you to do, just the way it goes unfortunately

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember where gonna be getting a system shock reboot

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We are, NightDive are an amazing team and I'd do anything to work with or for them. They're also bringing back a lot of old games

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never got to play the original ones but I really love s good horror game, so I'm hyped

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're both on GOG and the 2nd is on Steam with a modern FPS keyboard layout and 16:9 resolutions

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Coop is so much fun

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They gotta be successful first, the banjo kazooie remake looks terrible

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Team Cherry did great with their Hollow Knight, and they have been giving free expansions in some of their updates.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was stupendously impressed with Hollow Knight. Bought it on a lark when it was on sale and was worth every penny and more.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Meh, look at Elite. That has DLC and microtransactions.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Elite Dangerous is not an Indie game. Theh may be independent developers but they have ungodly amounts of money behind them and...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Had previously worked for Atari. They were a massive part of a lot of 20/30 year olds childhoods. I wouldn't call them indie at all

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, they used Kickstarter and self published. Not sure what else makes you independent.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Teams push their games into the marketplace.

8 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 2

Was going to say that. The best experiences I've had are with $20 indie games. They'll go to niche genres AAA devs. would never explore.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I'll keep buying older games then. San Andreas is a fucking masterpiece and everybody knows it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry, man. I have seen too few indie games come to fruition from alpha. I will wait until they have a full game, then pay.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Actually, I just base it off if the game looks fun to play right now. Means I don't get disappointed if it falls through

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that's the way you're supposed to do it. Buying it after release is the important support part

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Actually before release is just as important. Our team had to disband as the game was costing us almost 5,000 a week and we were all working

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For free. Subcontracted artists and friends who worked on the cheep and we still had to just shut the doors...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except then the indies kill their own shit too. Alpha builds that never get finished, overhyping and straight-up lying about features

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Or like Bluehole(PUBG creator) and add crates to your game..

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The fucking game is not even officially out, come the fuck on

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep. It is pretty annoying. It is part the reason why hackers are flooding the game atm coz they can make irl cash off in game time.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Blowhole aren't Indie, theyre just as greedy as Activision or EA.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lmao Kickstarter... and how many "super amazing games with the best talent" have simply gone vaporware with no sign of the money?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot, which is fair enough but game dev is expensive. Some teams shut down due to losses and some work with publishers like Devolver

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

GET BOMBER CREW!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dead by Daylight is by a nice small company. Only microtransactions are skins and 2 minor expansions for 5 bucks. Devs are very open.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But pysonix does microtrash tooo

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

"Mom won't let me have her CC so I can get a sombrero for my car like my friends so MT is bad" - this person

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

At least it’s aesthetics and not pay-to-win - and Rocket League is super cheap vanilla. But you are still 100% right.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

But I just want more storyline inside the Elder Scrolls universe. I'm about to pay $30 for ESO and play it alone.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Go to Humble Bundle it's on this Month's monthly bundle for $12 usd

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I played most of that alone. It's doable. Train your mount, even before you get one. Thank me later.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's definitely doable. I did it for months, but then I found a social guild that made the game more enjoyable. If you'd like, you can 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2/2 PM me for a guild invitation on Xbox. For me, the MMO aspect of ESO has been just as rewarding, if not more so, than the RPG part.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've played Tera Online and WoW with my best friends, but I hated the gameplay. MMOs are not for me. Also I'm on PC, thanks anyway.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm also considering buying it to play alone, it sounds like there's a lot of cool history in it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There is. You get to play in the age before the other TES games and experience some of the world's history firsthand. I love it. I played 1/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2/ alone for a long time, but I've come to really enjoy the social aspect of it as well. If you decide you want to join a guild (and you

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3/ play on Xbox), you're welcome to PM me for a guild invitation.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't care that much if the micro transactions are just cosmetic but when it gives you the edge or changes gameplay then it's bullshit.

8 years ago | Likes 268 Dislikes 3

I haven't bought myself a new game in a while because of it I have destiny 2 because a friend bought it for me as a late birthday gift.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was merely a stepping stone. Just to see how far they can take it. And guess what? They are going even further.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I disagree, but I thoroughly look forward to next year when I'll be able to say "man, do you remember when they used to be only cosmetic?"

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't tell the guy in the post about Activision's recent copyright/trademark

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A little app game I play has characters you buy during special events, but everything else is accessible in-game if you just work for it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Activision just got the patent to pair people with performance-improving micro with players who don't have it to get them to buy it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Agreed!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think cosmetic DLC's or microtransactions are a great way for companies to make the extra money to make a profit.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

They are rolling in the cash. This is not at all needed to make a profit.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They make record profits though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What do you think of warframe? Where is basicly pay to skip grind and wait time?

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

IMO, anything goes in free games. Though Dota did make it work with purely cosmetic upgrades.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It seems to me like you're just paying to not play the game. If I wanted to not play the game, I'd just do the free version and not play it

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

im pretty ok with that because it doesnt affect other players just you, and as thats all the game has going for it, it just lowers your time

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Ok because I like that game with enough time you can get all of the stuff in the game but one warframe as it was a beta exclusive.1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And I hope they give a good replacement for that exclusive one eventually. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Excal Prime wont ever come out, but Excal Umbra might be relased to NA.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was going to mention Warframe. Yes, you can spend money on cosmetics and to avoid grinding, but it's not necessary at all to play 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 the game and have fun. I haven't spent a penny on it and it's still great. I think it's a very good payment model.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it's free otherwise, that is totally acceptable

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Warframe is free, buying weapons and Warframe with in game premium currency skips wait time on crafting or grinding. Can't buy primes and

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man some of the warfames that are vaulted get expensive tho last night I saw ember prime was being sold for 700 plat. Or it would be 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Warframe is one of the best when it comes to micro transactions.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here dude, everyone complains about dlc and want it free. Devs gotta do something to keep there employees payed so... microtransactions

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You mean publishers got to milk you for every cent while not paying employees if they can possibly avoid it?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats bullshit. Games industry keeps making record profits even without micros.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qq6HcKj59Q not a legit sauce i know. tarmac just uploaded his thoughts on it with sauce

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really now? I'd like some sauce for that please.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

major publishers keep making record sales and stocks keeps rising. it more than overweighs the increased cost of developing a AAA title

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

do your own research (not meaning to be rude, but this feels to heavy of a subject for imgur comment section)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1) Cosmetic microtransactions were always a gateway to this, though. Plus if part of the gameplay loop includes gathering skins then it's

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

2) arguable that they are part of the experience.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I think people sort of bend what they think is "ok" just so they can justify Overwatch, despite it being fueled by the same greed

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Who cares about overwatch loot boxes that much? I'm a competitive player and I use the default skins still.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately enough people that it's ridiculously lucrative :/ not that it excuses it of course

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not bending what you think is ok to say that buying purely cosmetic items in an already bought game is ok, while pay2win is not. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those two things are different, I actually prefer games that have purchasable skins in them, this means the game continues to be 2/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

regardless of the game or the items, if it has lootboxes, and you can see on other players what is in the lootboxes, people will buy them

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this in turn ends up being way more exploitative than people realize, especially to those with gambling addictions

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly. I find them predatory and all around a horrific idea that'll just quicken the inevitable bubble pop

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most triple A games micro’s are just that, cosmetic shit. So I’ve never had a reason to complain I guess.

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 6

EA has had non-cosmetic micros for a while.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Surprise surprise, EA fucks it up again. I have to wonder, do they ever listen to player feedback?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's "Player Feedback"?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stop buying EAs games like the rest of us, then

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haven't bought an EA game in years. Not just because of their business tactics, I also don't really like their new games

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Toss in COD

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but now they're going beyond cosmetic. See: Star Wars Battlefront 2

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Eh... After having played the beta and experiencing how quick and easy it was to get loot boxes through matches alone, I don't really care(1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You need to die in a fire

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Nah, that sounds way too uncomfortable. But feel free to do so in my place.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

anymore. It's identical to ME3 MP lootboxes, minus having to unlock classes. For me roughly 2 to 4 matches, I earned enough for a lootbox.(2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2-4 matches in the beta is the equivalent to 300-600 credits which isn't close enough for one box.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How much you get and depending on what match you do also determines how much you get. Each box is 1k, each match in 40 I got 200+, and I (1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

typically did pretty sub-par. Really, it's not that difficult to get a box, especially while fulfilling class achievements/goals. (2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It kills multiplayer for me too, I don't want to play with people who can just pay their way into all the best stuff

8 years ago | Likes 885 Dislikes 4

360 noscope headshot from across the map. Pink hat and australium beard

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Stop playing these games. Overwatch is fun, they don't have that. Only skins for money.

8 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 5

Over-watch is hugely responsible, showed a small full-price game MP only could still sell you skins through a gambling system.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I see a lot of noobs buy premium ships in world of warships. it's funny to see them not being able to play properly. unless they're my team

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

WG's premium vehicle model always made me laugh. Usually the normal stuff was a better choice but you could save a lot of time with $$$.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately no longer the case, at least in WoT. *Tier 8 premium spam intensifies*

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Literally all of them were premium users, and we didn't catch one point for that game. After that I stopped Playing bf3

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember when battlefield 3 did this, playing op metro, attacking, we come up to the first point and an entire team of l86 mgs killed us..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's killed couch co-op too. I can only play Borderlands with my husband so many times! *uncontrollable sobbing*

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I prefer good oldfashioned cheating too

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Boy will you be happy about Activision's patent for matchmaking which puts players with microtransaction items in advantageous matches

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Path of exile and Dora are great cuz micro transactions don't really affect the game

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Modern cod in a nutshell. Can't even play CoD4 without running into some cunt with a gacha weapon

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

I stopped buying or playing games that operate this way.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I figure if I play a game that has those options I'll just earn things the hard way. I'm more proud of my work that way.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

the sensible thing, however this does not stop the systemic issue, you support those games, developers will still have there prey 1/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they need to know that they will loose sales with these systems or they will only grow more entwined with design/game-play, hurting you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Play league with mee

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looking at you, GTA V

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is one of the reasons I sold my rig. The pay-for add-ons are a cancer.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, I hate games that allow micro transactions to give you an edge in pvp.

8 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 1

Play EVE Online, you can dump $5k into it, buy all the best shit, and still get fucking dumpstered because youre bad.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I found these Russian players who would kind of do that - go mad on £300 ships just to try to PvP 2vGuild. Made me realise PvP is a bit 2D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just ran numbers, $5k is a bit high, titan pilot and a ship to go with it would run you $1300-$1500 if you went straight credit-card warrior

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

IMO, this is why Rocket League is a success. You have loads of DLC that gives you no advantage when it comes to gameplay (except that the..

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

To be fair, there’s not a crazy amount of DLC for rocket league. There’s a crap ton of free unlockables though!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

person who just scored on you with a half court reverse aerial volley that bounced off two walls is also driving the Batmobile.)

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I like the league of Legends model. You don't need to spend money for an advantage in the game. Money is for purely cosmetic stuff

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

LoL model was fucking terrible, DOTA 2 was a better model.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

And new champions no?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can get new champions using in game points, but yes, you can also buy them with real money, so you have a point.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What games have that?

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

The new star wars battlefront 2 has loot boxes that effect things like damage health and accuracy. Thanks EA.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Activision holds a patent for a system that pairs new players against players with better gear, but of same playstyle, encouraging p2w.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Happened to me in neverwinter. Went into a 3man dungeon with someone who was kitted out in epic items at level 10, blazing through 1/

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

While me and the others are trying to have fun.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Any app game ever. I want a multiplayer mobile app game I can play anywhere, but virtually every stinking multiplayer game is pointless.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

GTA, you can literally buy in game cash to buy better weapons/vehicles and upgrades for them

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You can spend $100 of real money, and buy 2 of the really expensive items... then you're done. Alternatively, you can grind for 4 weeks

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or you can dupe cars like i did :D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then get them taken away with no working way to do it again. I'm just pissed they fixed the way to customize new cars free

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Battlefront, COD, Halo you name it

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

In CoD, you can pay for a chance to get different stuff. Variants give little advantage and you can get them for free if you just play.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Battlefield as well. Not surprising as it’s battlefront’s cousin.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Halo it's just Warzone

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Everyone gets about a billion of them and you still have to get kills to unlock them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cod is probably my most played out of the few you named and I can definitely say that those guns are far from the best in the game. 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Like they're good but not game breaking good. They're all somewhat situational and anyone with decent aim can easily beat them. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't played those titles recently- what kind of edge? Isn't there very little actual character customization there? You shoot a gun. >>

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In COD you can spend money on loot boxes that have unlockable guns in them that are different than the standard guns. Some are better

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm curious and honestly asking, please englighten me.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I don’t think those were the best titles to say, the only benefit on some of those games I assume would be some sort of xp boost.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

atleast in the battlefront 2 beta you could spend money day 1 to unlock things that would take F2P players weeks/months to earn and dominate

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah I think it's mostly really cool cosmetic stuff. Not like they give you the best weapons in the game that you can't get yourself. IThink

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can only speak for Halo but you can buy req packs that give you more access to legendary weapons that can be used in warzone (12v12)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

You don't play warzone for balance. You play it for the chaos. It's unbalanced even without Micros, but Micros don't affect arena at least.
