Looks like Japan but way worse in every way

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Kind of reminds me of an older version of the riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas

Europe has a lot of the most popular travel destinations, but China is so amazing. So many places with gorgeous landscapes food people.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What part of China is this? It's my bucket list to visit.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Suzhou, Tangil Watet Town. Beautiful place with small stores entwined in the streets. Art, food and much more.

Tall, white, sheltered American dude here: can I visit here and not be murdered?

9 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 4

Sure. Street View.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's China, not Mexico.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Yes, but if your electronics undergo "additional inspecting" or are "temporarily lost," your data is now theirs, and you're probably bugged.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chinaman here, just don't be a Japan loving weeb and we'll welcome you!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Probably one of the safest places you can be tall, white and sheltered in

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

China and Japan are probably the best places for tall, white dudes. You're treated as otherworldly, but I guess in a mostly positive way.

Suzhou is beautiful! I spent some time there a few years back. Worth the visit. Great photos !!!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

China is awesome to visit. Learn some basic phrases on the flight and the locals are generally super friendly

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tall, white European dude here: I didn't get murdered. Photographed and pointed at; yes (a lot).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lived in China for 4 years as a teen. Super safe and hospitality is ingrained in Chinese culture. Real Chinese food will change your life.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Truly wonderful! Especially the dumplings!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried Shanghai soup dumplings?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no and no.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The opposite. You'd get treated like a movie star. Chinese people LOVE foreigners! China is such a beautiful country to visit!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless by sheltered you mean 'has no idea how to behave in public', you should be fine anywhere. Travel will fix sheltered in the best way

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've travelled to "Caucasian" countries but never the Asian continent

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Asia's awesome for exploring. I've never felt unsafe - just get some stares & amusing comments about my height

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The people of Suzhou are peaceful and kind, the only thing that would happen is being stared at and possibly get a picture taken.

My husband is six feet tall and visited China. Can confirm people in China will want pictures with/of you.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And get called Lawai! All the time but they mean it nice like

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just spent 3months living in China, can confirm this. For a foreign traveller I think it's one of the safest countries you can visit.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You would be a westerner to them blue eyes and blond hair are amazing to the Chinese. I'll share a photo on my wall to show you.

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

I have curly hair, super pale skin, and blue eyes and when I visited, I did actually get attention for it. It was odd but flattering.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I actually have been here back in 2010. As a 6' white guy with blond hair and blue eyes I can confirm this.

My dad (a 6'2" white American) had a lot of people stop him in Beijing for "picture with giant"
