fp-edit: I think nudes are a myth

My Chem professor encouraged us to use earlier editions, rather than the latest $300 textbook that came out. Good guy, too bad I hate chem

At first I thought this was going to be a d&d joke

Statistics Professor said not to buy the book for the course. He said it's crap and not to waste your money. Awesome guy.

I try to do this, but I never find new enough editions of the books. If someone has a good source I wouldn't be upset if you messaged me.

In a Netherland university they even had the janitor(who does print stuff) do that, cause they didnt believe in expenses u once need. ;)

Scumbag universities.

Often once a new edition is out you can't order copies of an old one and the profs are stuck using the new one

I quoted the professors' updated textbook on a test and lost points because he claimed that the details changed since the book was printed.

My prof who wrote his book said it's fine to use the last edition.

In the 12 course program I just finished, we had only one mandatory textbook. All the rest were suggested, and they didn't care which editio

n you used. It was great.

Had 2 professors write their textbooks, but sold them for just a little more than the cost to print them.

Found an obscure pdf of our $300 book after searching for weeks. "How come everyone suddenly has a digital version?" -Prof a week later.

Gee, I wonder why, Professor Butthole.

i used to steal all my textbooks from the college bookstore. but i also had an expensive drug habit to keep up with...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

to be fair, is there really a cheap drug habit?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hell even cigarettes will set you back 40 bucks a week and thats if youre only a 1 pack a day smoker.

I sent a pdf of our calculus book to 30 students in our cal 3 class. It was $450. Don't give a fuck about "college" ethics when you're poor

9 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 1

Yeah, the poorer you get, the more that ethical line moves. Probably 90% of the reason not-so-altruistic societies bother with welfare.

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Indeed, that exactly is the reason. Or big part of it. Welfare buys peace and safety. Poor, cornered human with no hope for better future is

very, very dangerous.

When I am a professor my class books are going to be Novels.

Choose your own adventure?

Like most other English professors?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The twist is I am going to be teaching math.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would take that class.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Applied mathematics taught through the lense of Novels would be friggen epic.
