In all honesty how are we not equal??

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Child custody, prison lengths for the same crime, one gender gets to decide if they will be a parent but not the other gender.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Ellen Page has never made any statement that can be construed as 'hating men'. She stayed in the closet for a long time because it could...

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

have killed her career.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

My wife & I are both feminists, but as a man, I'm better at it.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 6

Sublime. :D

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

American lesbians who want to destroy men, muahahaha.

10 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 19

I've never heard a feminist equate all forms of sex as rape. So its unlikely to be a common idea in my view.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Extremism sucks, whether in gender, politics, religion or gun control. 'Moderation in all things...' still makes sense.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

"Lets exterminate all the Jews" "Now now, remember moderation..." "Fine. Lets exterminate HALF of the Jews..."

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Now you're getting it!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They want to destroy the macho man?

I love this .gif too, but I hate how much I need to post it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Y'all treat feminism like americans treat ISIS. You look for the worst cases of it and claim they're all the same.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

It's sad that we're still living with the sterotype that feminists are "man hating lesbians" which is so far off.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The lesbian stereotype might be off but I know many feminist and most do hate or treat men unfairly.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

There is a difference between feminism as a theory and the way that a (tiny, visible) minority practice it. Same in religion/politics/etc.

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 12

Patriarchy Theory, Rape Culture, and Toxic Masculinity are all huge in Feminist Theory and are all Misandrist as fuck.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Straw-feminist bullshit. But one good thing is that I get to like Ellen Page even more.

I honestly see more people complaining about the crazy, man-hating feminists than I do actual crazy feminists

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Bullshit. You're a fucking moron. Engage with real feminism, and you will see real feminism. Choose to engage with trash, you'll see trash.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

It's something you shouldn't have to identify yourself as, it goes without saying. It's a basic moral conclusion.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've more problems with feminist theory, terms like mansplaining etc. crap vs. just the objective of feminism, equal treatment of people

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I detest terms like that. Such ugly, unnecessarily gender-filtered words.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are you seriously saying a woman who claims "feminists are a bunch of lesbians who hate men" has a valid point? Imgur, you're really fucked.

10 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 69

She's right in that feminism is a shell of what it was int eh west, she's utterly wrong as to the source of the problem though

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

Feminist theory and theology are similar: "theological debate is like a public swimming pool, all the noise comes from the shallow end"

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

That's not what she said at all. She said that the debate and equality struggle has been hi-jacked by more extremist elements.

10 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 34

I still don't agree with the "American Lesbian" statement. It's a disgrace to most of them who are peaceful and kind.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 6

"Has been taken over by American lesbians..."

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

That's actually exactly what she said. "American lesbians." like it's somehow inherently negative.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

that's not what she said. You need to re-read it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If "Feminist" claim that all they want is Gender Equity, Why don't they call themselves "Gender Equitists"? I'm a man and that is what I am.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 33

The word for that is egalitarian, it was a popular idea during the French Revolution, egalité and all that

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Because the point is that "femininity" is seen as "weak" or "wrong". Hence, men who cry are "pussies" and being a woman means you're lesser.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, because we are seeking equality by going after the inequality brought on by being female. The problems caused by sexism/misogyny.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 6

But in any first world western democracy females have more privilege, freedom and entitlement than men

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

That's simply false.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I think that's quite brilliant.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 16

Yikes. I forgot not to differentiate from the hive mind.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Misandry is not feminism. Why I'd it so hard to understand that?

10 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 26

Because feminists never address men's issues they can't blame on men via Toxic Masculinity/Patriarchy and protest people who DO?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

#JustImgurianThings

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Damn. And you got downvoted by feminists.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

It's not that you're "bad", it's that you're just tacitly agreeing that radfem jackholes represent feminism.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Incorrect, thoroughly. Feminism represents gender equality. Many valid concerns therein. I don't want to only represent that, I also 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm explaining why you're getting that reaction. And by making this kind of public statement about it, it probably is correct.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You're making a grandiose assumption which I've already explained is wrong, yet you believe you're right? Pretty arrogant, stranger.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

and yet, you felt the need to make the statement about not referring to yourself as a feminist in the first place. that's why people react.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Seek to represent racial equality etc too. I don't prioritise, where feminism by design does. I don't support prioritising equality. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The kind of 'radfem' who believes #2 is rare even among angry tumblr feminists.

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 14

But she is the unicorn of the anti-feminists.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

True, but they lead the movement. The professors, authors, etc, in Feminism tend towards Radical Feminism.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

And your inference is based on what objective metric? Your personal circle is not an indicator of the whole society, stop being in denial.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I would say that most feminists are libfems

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

In the absence of a peer reviewed journal on an analysis of self-proclaimed feminists who frequent tumbler, what other metric shall I use?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No it isn't. Not on tumblr. On tumblr there is a huge community against anyone who is "cisgendered"

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 12

I'm really amazed how many of you people don't realize how obvious it is that those pages are mostly troll accounts from 4chan...

It also calls for more inclusion so that it isn't just white females benefiting from increased social liberties. This includes males.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Also an increased focus on intersectionality.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Feminism hasn't been about equality since the 60s.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 20

a extremely vocal minority that doesn't speak for equality and some very poorly thought out laws and ideas that don't

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

equal equality (i pressed enter on accident)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Back in like 1970 it was about equal rights. Now it's gone deep into the loony bin. Check out everydayfeminism.com or just go on twitter

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

A few?! There are thousands, and they're getting political influence everywhere. Don't fuxking chalk it down to that, this is a real danger

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

*whispering* there are a lot of bitter virgins on the internet.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

You're the reason. The lie that you speak, well, write, is the reason.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 21

Imgur is an online community, and I think for that reason imgur respond to the most prominent version of 'feminism' online, the tumblr kind.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 7

Nail on the head. Most people are on the same page or close enough there shouldn't be pointless infighting.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you not read the post?

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

"Guys some woman with an unsourced quote had a negative opinion that confirms my bias based on browsing too much Tumblr, I hate feminism!"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Veganism is about equal rights too-- and imgur also hates/is afraid of us, so I can truly relate to your frustration +1

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Crazy people tend to be LOUD. Very very LOUD. Its hard to ignore them because of it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Because imgur is secretly super conservative

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Many people don't know it's about equal rights.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I've always believed that the biggest thing holding feminism back is that the movement was labeled feminism instead of, you know, equality.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

It's very definition is "equality for women", not "equality".

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Which by definition is equality for all, since, well, equal.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Nope, reality doesn't work like that. It's not one single scale, it's thousands of small ones, and fem seeks to re-balance only half of them

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

So here we have grotesque inequality harming an entire gender to its very core. Where are the feminists at though? [6]

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Men are punished something like 68% more harshly for identical criminal behavior with identical criminal histories. [3]

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh, here they are: https://youtu.be/iARHCxAMAO0 Protesting a former feminist, former chair of the NOW, for trying to address the problem.[9]

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen numerous feminists rally for aid for female prisoners, but 95% of prisoners in the US are male. [2]

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No boys are a shrinking minority of HS grads and college enrollments. Men are 95% of prisoners. [5]

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The concept of "equality for women" only implies that. The actions of the group, however, never push for equality for men. [1]

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This same stat holds true for boys. Boys who act out in class are punished about 68% more harshly than girls for the same behavior. [4]

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So when feminists talk about women in computer science it has nothing to do with feminism. Gotcha.,

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Because the better term is egalitarian.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

The word has been usurped. Most people are for equality.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 8

You can be an Egalitarian or a Humanist they both believe in equal rights, Feminism doesn't have own the idea.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

The 2nd version has my blessing, the first i absolute despise. She is cute though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

Imgur is afraid of everybody that isn't a college age white guy. You never see the crazy shit MRAs say posted to the FP for laughs.

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 30

Which crazy shit, particularly?

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Literally every single KotakuInAction post ever made.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Vocal minorities are very good at poisoning the name they attach to. Sane feminists are abandoning the term to the crazies.

10 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 28

I bet you think all muslims are bad, too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Should be noted: The "fem-" part of the name and the movement itself having no official oversight are big factors to the poisoning.

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

The crazies are astroturfers. NOW and League of Women Voters both clearly define feminist objectives, so attack the poisoners with facts.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

No they aren't. The internet just chooses to focus on crazy people because then it's easier to dismiss it

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Reminds me of when the TEA party started and was going to be a bipartisan group against wasteful spending and taxes... then hijacked.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

American feminism is generally lazy and all about entitlement, typically disregarding real struggles faced in more repressed nations.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 14

No. People with no affiliation to feminism at all are abandoning the term to crazies, and I couldn't give a shit less about their opinions.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Imgur is addicted to hate. It's a psychological thing. Hating something feels good. Why focus on the crazy? Because they're easy to hate.

10 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 25

Because the "crazy" have power and influence policy. Ppl like Mary Koss for instance. Plenty of academics & professors too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

You mean human beings. It's part of human nature.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If "Feminist" claim that all they want is Gender Equity, Why don't they call themselves "Gender Equitists"? I'm a man and that is what I am.

10 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 17

speaking of which, if humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

"humanitarian" is a movement just like that

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I'm a humanist. Slightly different but at the end of the day we have very similar goals. Humans have rights. Ignore sex and race. Humans.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

It exists, and is called egalitarian. I am one. In my experience feminism is not about equality, and that's why I am not feminist.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

It's not that the idea is what people are against. It's what some have let the idea of feminism have become.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

It's the same with anything. Have a loud minority shout enough, and the majority suffers. Islam has the exact same problem.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The problem isn't just the loud minority, but the opponents who purposely search for that minority then present it as if it's the norm.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The problem with loud minorities is that it skews the perception of the entire group. In this case, the definition of feminism is skewed to

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

an anti-man kind of set-up. Opposed to men are equal standpoint it officially set out as.

Then stop acting like a moron who doesn't know the difference between an ideology and a movement, and speak up for those victims.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

things feminism WONT talk about, the Slave trade, women being raped or killed at the border, cops beating black or hispanic women,

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The movement it all that matters, the ideology can only matter if the movement reflects it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I'm a man and I'm a feminist, there I said it. I'll put it in my god damn description if it helps people realise what the word means!

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 17

why not a humanitarian, pure equality without labeling.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Does it stop the man-haters from calling themselves feminists too? The problem with feminism is it has no oversight. Too easily twisted.

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

The Bible enshrines hateful, crazy shit as well as good shit, so does feminist theory. This comment section is all no true scotsman city.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

The difference is the Bible is written down, whereas with any feminism (crazy or otherwise), people can only reference more opinions.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Well seeing as feminism is built on patriarchy theory, and there are no patriachies in western society...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Same goes for everything really, but I don't call all atheists neckbeards, all christians homophobes or all muslims terrorists

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

All of those have oversight, ways for the public to differentiate good-vs-crazy - Scientific method, Bible, Quran; it's NOT the same.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

There's plenty of prominent feminist authors and large groups but no one pays attention to any of them outside of feminism

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Well when a "few" crazy people are the loudest in a movement, they become the voice of a movement.

10 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 27

That does not account for the huge attraction there seem to be to smear the name of the concept.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

I think its easy to avoid the issue by demonizing a portion of the movement (and say they are the loudest faction) (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

vs pay attention to the many voices that pursue equality but have become part of the background noise because they refuse to be radical(2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

definitely. Most educated feminist or normal feminist just dont scream around, but they are there and there theories are accesable.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Ok so Westboro Baptist Church and the KKK are the face of all Christians. Done.

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 14

They're overshadowed, but yeah, they do represent Christianity. Tons of anti-Feminists are also anti-Christian and anti-Muslim. All cults.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It is still the listener who chooses which voices to listen to. If you only notice the loudest voice and base opinion on that, you're lazy.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

No because there are plenty of Christians who are vocal about positivity in Christianity. Look at ISIS vs the Muslim hate in the US

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

It's all some people hear about, despite some people saying Islam is about peace

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

But there are plenty of feminists that are vocal about positivity in feminism.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

However the only impact (to my knowledge) 3rd wave feminists thus far have had are the cause of the hate. 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

To a lot of people, they are. Doesn't make it right, but its the way things are.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 12

Then why is it that we never see hate on ALL Christians on this site, but ALL feminists are evil?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Because imgur has advertisers. And it can't afford to be a hate site. So its probably censored. Andreessen Horowitz injected 40 mill 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Because an application of the exact same concept occurs by those afraid of feminism? Most people don't think they're all evil.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Because this website is predominantly male, and typically young enough for their only encounters with feminism to be the tumblr reposts

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

There are anti-Christian posts all the time. Used to be way more and now they rarely leave usersub. Its the new big circle jerk is all.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

(2) A loud minority does.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm with you, bro. Never met one. Some extremists, but they were never wrong, just not merciful. They didn't feel a need to be understanding

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

My best friend only focuses on women. I wouldn't say she is a "crazy", but she sometimes worries me. She doesn't like it when I focus a 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

few issues on men. I'll bring up double standards that hurt men and she gets VERY defensive. (I'm a woman btw) 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Double standards that hurt men are as much a feminist issue as anything hurting women. Sir Patrick Stewart put it nicely, paraphrasing:

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"The way to help women is often to help men", he was talking about his dad having severe war PTSD and as a result hurting his mom physically

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Agreed. I always make the argument that we need to treat PEOPLE with respect and help PEOPLE. No gender required.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here - in that I'm a female feminist and I've never encountered a crazy outside of internet memes and obscure message boards...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I know right, I mean I'm not saying there's NONE of them but they're a loud minority, and we "centrists" really should speak up about it

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You aren't a feminist, you are a humanist. You just want equality and tbh, in the West women and men are equal. In the the east its diff.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

They aren't, or we'd take war veterans and PTSD more seriously, and home vioelence, and a thousand other issues that we should address.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Finally, a smart person

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I guess your personal experience reflects the reality of the situation.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Yep, same here

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've met around 7 crazy feminists and only 1 normal one so yeah... they really do exist and boy do they are loud...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I know two crazy feminists... most of the feminists I know are totally fine. I have no problem with the fight for equality.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

I'm a woman with lots of feminist friends (and a feminist boyfriend) and, like you, don't know a single "crazy feminist"

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 6

I know 0 people against feminism. I've encountered 0 people against feminism. Mostly encounter feminists who dont know what feminism is

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

If you blame "The Patriarchy" for anything, you're an irrational feminist, and I won't listen to anything you have to say ... ever.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

Sounds like you might be as close-minded as them...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Well, the same goes for illuminati-bush-did-9/11 and reptilian-overlords-live-among-us folks. It's equally crazy to me.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Do you believe that women in the west live under a 'patriarchy'

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Why are people so reluctant to call themselves MRAS? Proof we live in a misandrist world!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Try working at a vegan restaurant. You'll find plenty, as well as white people who blame white people for all their problems.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Go to Tumblr. And cry.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

It's like atheists on the Internet, they're loud and whiney and obnoxious but irl atheists for the most part don't act like jackasses

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Right, the same goes for people who equate terrorists and muslims and so on, it's kind of a dangerous road to go down

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because they stick to their own communities and hate and fear everyone outside of them. They also are effective at lobbying the legal system

Man they exist. It is a myth that they don't. They work in levels of the government for Christs sake man.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm not saying they don't, but the reaction against feminism because of them is an overreaction imo

The problem is not labels, though I'd advise to not associate with the mainstream of feminism today.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

Yeah, and the NAACP is only about advancing COLORED people. Reverse racism! And Oxfam only feeds the poor. That's class warfare right there!

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

There is no such thing as reverse racism. Racism is racism.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

True. I was just using the terminology of the type of folks who would oppose NAACP focusing on the problems of blacks instead of everybody.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I mean, different movements do different things. Some level of focus is necessary and unavoidable.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm a mentally ill feminist if that counts lol

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not that kind of crazy :P

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Come to Massachusetts. They're nuts. And part of the reason feminism has become "man hating"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They exist. And hopefully you are an equalist, not a feminist.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

(it's the best analogy I can come up with atm, sorry, there's been a rush of replies today)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Same thing, different word.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Feminism is about equality and egalitarianism, it's a name, Pascals aren't about Pascal the person, they're a unit of pressure, Pascal=name

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

well to be fair, crazy people usually don't think they're crazy ...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a woman they like abusing me the most. They're real.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

I know and agree that they're real, but they're not the majority in the feminist movement, at least IME (That was my original point<.<)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 5

And in my experience is 100% the other way. I only meet feminists who want to tell me the men in my life hate me. They can suck my dick.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

IF YOU'RE HONESTLY CURIOUS I COULD INTRODUCE YOU TO SOME. THE KIND THAT WILL INSIST ALL MEN ARE NATURALLY RAPISTS. IT'S FUCKING WEIRD.

Shh, you don't need to yell

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fair enough, but I was trying to say they're not the majority, just a vocal minority

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of course they're not the majority. We'd be in deep shit. There are many enough to raise concern.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There are, apparently, enough to make people hate the term feminism, as I've learned today. It was different only 15 years ago :/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You need to get out more, friend. Or just go on twitter. I'm a feminist dude as well and I've met hundreds

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I try to mostly only count people I know well, so random twitter people don't count on my radar

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Idk I would caution against that approach. For example, I've never met a Trump supporter but I'm very well aware that they exist

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good point

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dear sir, I do believe this is a place called the internet... YOU might not have met them, but other people have

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm mostly counting people I know well, not random people, or I could claim from my time on 4chan that everyone is a scat fetishist

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 31

The patriarchy.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

Seems likely.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah Imgur is kinda strange. Pretending these kind of Feminists only exists on Tumblr while they speak before the UN and such.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Woah wait what, before the UN? Who are we talking about?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn spoke before the UN about cyberbullying aka people who disagree with them on Twitter. Look it up it was silly

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 14

I am active on TUMBLR (TUMBLR!) and I've never met a hysterical feminist.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

I'll be honest, I mostly only use it for INCREDIBLY SPECIFIC porn blogs

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

I've never met a terrorist, but everyone claims they're a huge problem.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

And in the grand scheme of things, they aren't. At least, not in the western world.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Well, compared to a lot of diseases they're not even a drop in the bucket to the west, and ME politics is a whole nother discussion

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Born in the 1940's, been a feminist since the 60's. Feminism has been corrupted. There are tons of the anti-men types destroying feminism

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

We need to be the vocal center then! And speak up about.. I dunno, I'd call it "centrist" feminism just to get it across in pol. terminology

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fact that you feel the need to specify that you're a man should tell you that feminism isn't 100% about equality, but about women...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

I would argue it's because a lot of people wouldn't take a woman saying it seriously, Sir Patrick Stewart :P

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Therein lies a major issue with this ongoing internet tussle. Presupposing what others will think of you before you give them a chance.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Well, I agree that it shouldn't be an issue. But I do think it is still one these days. Especially in my country (Slovenia)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's a stupid comment. Sad to see someone like him buy into these politics. But yeah, most of Hollywood pushes this agenda anyway...

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

I can find it if you want!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

His mother was physically abused by his father when he was a kid, a lot. That's a big part of the reason why he's a feminist.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

The other reason is, his dad had severe PTSD from the war, that was back when combat PTSD wasn't considered a thing yet.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

So he's also a feminist because we need to help soldiers with PTSD get mental healthcare. He said as much in an interview.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Seriously? Helping soldiers with PTSD has nothing to do with feminism, I support that too. Also, his personal life experiences doesn't >

Or one of the "nice guys" that the internet informs me about all the time

Angry people are more vocal. Other Ppl forget rational feminists but remember the very noisy / vocal man haters

They're a joke, to everyone, yet portrayed as the norm, by the internet meninists, who are their opposites, and hence, also a joke.

And a lot of even more main stream publications are giving space to extreme "meninist" opinion pieces. Makes for good clickbait, these days.

You know "meninist" isn't in any way a serious thing and exists solely to troll feminists, right?

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, and I chose to include all these types of posts in with them, because they are all a joke (intentional or not). Problem?

Even academics are radical, and many openly praise women that were violent and encouraged violence. Feminism is full of hypocrisy.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's a broad movement, not everyone claiming to be a feminist will live up to ideals I'm afraid

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

If the vocal ones means the most popular/mainstream... sure. But anything patriarchal/against CHS talking in colleges is nuts.

Upvote for C. H. Sommers

Based mom is best. trying to pull the movement back to its roots. I see it as a lost cause, but it's brave.

This is why I stopped reading Jezebel and similar blogs years ago, I don't get why other people continue to pay attention to them

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Figure that out and you can figure out a Trump vote.

There are atrocities against women around the world that they can help with, what do they chose to focus on? the female body in video games!

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Hell, Slovenia is a prime example, violence in the home (against everyone, not just women) is on the rise! Has been for years now!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There's atrocities against women in our own countries, too, don't have to look very far to get some incredibly sad statistics

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe, just maybe, it's b/c their narrative isn't that much in the minority. Feminism is force -fed in almost every university I know.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

In the US, and perhaps many other places, you can even get extra credit for writing feminist thinking into your workThis amount of politics>

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

>involved in education and research has never had good consequences. Feminist politics should stay out of education&science.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Prominent in British universities, there are some great feminists though, most of these however adopted the name"egalitarian" over feminist

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 6

Really? I'm not aware of any.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which part? Also depends which uni you go to. Mine and those at Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester tried to ban clapping (applause).

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was referring to the great feminists that prefer the name "egalitarian".

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ooooh right, they're the quiet ones (sounds bad) who glare at the SJW feminists.

Egalitarians fight for equality, feminists are people who believe women should have the perks men have but none of the downsides.

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 11

That's the latest rendition of feminism anyways, the ones preaching it are people who've never been oppressed in their lives and never will

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The amount of abuse I got when pointing out that rights are not finite, you don't have to take away in order to give. Apparently I was wrong

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

This is like the recent gay marriage and adoption issue in Slovenia, for some reason changing the legal definition of "mom and dad" to

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

"parent 1" and "parent 2" is going to "ruin families" <.< (and marriage from "between man and woman" to "two adults")

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It's genuinely ridiculous how upset people get... and speaking from experience "mum" and "dad" don't always equal solid families.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because they realized, men and women are now generally equal, and now the fight is for human rights, not equal rights

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

You say that (and I agree), but they refused to recognise the 2010 Equalities Act, "The law and courts are patriarchy!" they screamed

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well, there's still a lot to fight for in terms of LGBTetc rights in a lot of places

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, like Iran.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure we should get into both feminism/lgbt stuff and on top of that middle-eastern politics :P
