Where’s the guy leaving tools in the wings?

Napping in the wing with his tools.

Ikea stepping up their game

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun fact, it still has those terrible cam-locks holding it together... and it's missing exactly one screw.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All of that work and they still forgot the pickles

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

That sounds more like a plane from ikea

While watching I thought "That's cool, but it's so big! It must be tough to deliver it to the customer" ... I am not a smart man

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Well, i mean. It is... they have to have a runway at their delivery address!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My parts go on that plane!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sweet! Boeing hardly makes any of it's own parts any more, it's the suppliers that make these birds fly.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If they don't make airplane sounds while moving the various parts to the body, are they even doing it right?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The cranes that lift the segments into place have horns that sound like boats, actually.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So they bolt the wings by hand?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, the bolts are installed by hand but the wings are positioned and supported with cranes, hoists, and trusses.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Someone do a reversed version

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Airlines plan flights involving planes that haven't even been built yet. Any delay in transport or this process affects travelers

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Deposits are place years (sometimes 5 or 10 years) in advance of delivery just to get a place in line.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I liked the part where the plane got a bath

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Love mah boy Qantas

Well that took me by surprise.

Yeah me too but this gif is garbage.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I fucking despise this.... +1

Interesting description of a porn gangbang...

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

All these new models being made and I have been stuck riding the ones with ashtrays still.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In the end, it boils down to a guy with a wrench.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's usually the weakest link, too.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hah you fools, now that I know how it's done I will make my own and fly for free!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

LoL, you have to get through the boss fight with the FAA first.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wonder what a brand new jet smells like. You know like new car smell? New jet smell. Fuck yea

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Like a mix of grease and plastic. Definitely not as classy or expensive smelling as "new car".

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man, did you see all that glorious head room for standing people before any interior was installed. That's the dream, friend.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a crew rest compartment above the passenger cabin for long-haul flights. That space doesn't go to waste.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad flies them things.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like test flying a new plane for the first time is a little scarier than test driving a new car for the first time.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All of the systems are cycled and tested on the ground before it ever gets wheels-up.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It would be lovley to fly in a new plane. Wonder if it smells like a new car?

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I've flown a few transpacific flights on the 787 recently...compared to older aircraft the seats felt more jammed together, not comfortable.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or maybe it's just an old one they are gluing back together so they can still claim they've never had a hull loss.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure that's exactly what it is.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Honestly, as nice as a new aircraft is, I'd still prefer to fly something a little older. Feel safer knowing they've lasted that long.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I was gonna say. Who would want to be the first one to flight an untested newly built plane??

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mikey’ll do it! He flies anything!

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Like the Max8?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is there so much trash left in the plane when it is delivered to the customer?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those are called "seats" they're where you cram the customers into.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now do disassembly of 737 8 Max-- too soon?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wait, it comes as a kit?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Some assembly required. Batteries not included."

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let's hope they aren't forgeting the soft updates.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Let's hope they are no longer making safety features "Optional Equipment".

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Maybe a redundant AOA sensor or three and some extra pilot training for when it decides to commit seppuku and auger in.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

As long as they’re average, or better, it’ll all be fine.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Wrong airframe, but good try.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Is Qantas pronounced Qantas or Qantas?

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Queensland And Northern Territory Air Service

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Kwontas. Soft a and s in Tas.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It’s pronounced Qantas

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Qantas.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seems pretty quick and easy. Wonder why they are so expensive.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

It’s not like they’re dumping much into R&D...

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Go look up how much one of those bolts holding the wings on costs, then get back to us.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, look up the insane inspection criteria of the bolt and qualification process of the shop that makes them. Price is somewhat justified.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does anyone know how long it takes to build this bad boy?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the final assembly shown in the video? Just a couple days. But there's A LOTTA work that goes into building those segments before that.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like 1-7 steps were skipped. Does the entire cabin and sings come assembled like that?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The video just shows the final assembly line. There is A WHOLE LOT of sub-assembly that goes on before this point.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In fact they do arrive at the assembly plant premade like that. The 787's major sections are built by specialists around the world, (1/

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

then flown into the final assembly plant in Washington by the 747 LCF Dreamlifter where they're joined together. (2/2)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was literally just thinking about the assembly of the Boeing 787-9 and this popped up in Imgur. Spooky.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think there were some steps already done to have the fuselage in one piece to just roll in. Still cool.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The barrel segments are assembled in the sub-assembly areas/plants and then brought to the final line for integration.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fuselage was in three separate pieces in the video. Is that what you are referencing? I saw the main tail and nose bolted together

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, talking about the nose, tail, and cabin sections already being mostly assembled and just LEGO-ed together.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ah got it . Yes there was already a ton done on those sections.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have seen first hand how the build the v-22 osprey. I was involved with a reconstruction of there assembly line. Fascinating stuff!!!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And the wings, the wings are pre-assembled too!
