So this guy got his start working for a dude named Tom Bliley in the 90's, and was there when the then senator helped co- author the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which laid the framework to allow an even playing field for startup telecom companies to compete against the already established monopoly of phone lines owned by the existing companies. This is one of the main reasons companies like Verizon exist and compete today. He must've forgot this lesson because apparently his idea of a free market was warped in the ensuing two decades spent as a party lapdog. His statement regarding net neutrality below:

That decade of precedent he's referring to? Oh that's just his old boss' legislation which was passed in an actually bipartisan move and was aimed at protecting and regulating an unbalanced playing field. It forced the large companies to make room for the new guys. Sounds familiar. That's my read of it. You be the judge... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_Act_of_1996?wprov=sfla1

Anyway, if you feel like reminding him what a free and open internet looks like, here's his Twitter: @mikeofcc

Next there is this asshat. Brendan here did most of his work prior to the FCC actually fighting the FCC as an employee of the legal firm Wiley Reid. The firm has represented large ISPs like the afore mentioned Verizon in their attempts to shake free of the Obama era regulations for years. His specialty is appellate law. He's literally been fighting to end net neutrality since before he was hired. Probably one of the main reasons he was hired. Might be a lost cause appealing to his conscience, but just in case, this is his email: @brendanCarrFCC

So yeah, that’s Brendan's deep thoughts on the issue. To him and all his ilk i have only one thing to say...

1st guy looks like a pedophile, 2nd guy looks like a nazi

Before we go around celebrating the Telecommunications Act of 1996, lets not forget it supported through a loophole, sex slavery.

Did any of you actually read this? They are making a very logical and reasonable argument.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For keeping Net Neutrality.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No they are in favor of repeal. My point is stemming from the fact that I haven't any actual facts posted, until this post.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know they're in favor of repeal, and the more I read of what they wrote, the more I want to keep the net neutral.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

'If an ISP blocks Netflix because of the bandwidth it requires, consumers who want Netflix will take their business elsewhere.'

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The market disruptive net neutrality..... Wtf?!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It limits the ways in which the ISPs can bleed money from other entities who makes use of the internet. So for certain values of market...

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The glaring obviousness that this is to pander to companies like Verizon and AT&T is that in their investor conference calls, where they /1

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

HAVE to tell their investors the truth about upcoming events and their effects on the bottom line, they fully admit that there are no /2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

negative effects from net neutrality on their business. Yet they tell Congress that net neutrality is the worst thing to happen to them.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ya know. Part of the Federal government's job is to promote commerce. I wonder if you could use that to claim it's unconstitutional.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Who or where would the money needed to sue for the unconstitutional claim come from? We're all broke against the ISP money.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most people Trump has hired are working against their own department's intended goals. Purposefully. And knowingly.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If you want to promote commerce you also have to promote competition.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it does pass, it opens itself to plenty of lawsuits. Unfortunately, they did just weaken the power of class action lawsuit plaintiffs 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because consumers shouldn't have the power to fight corporations or some such nonsense. Thanks gop and corporate dems. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

God damnit dude, Democrats all voted against this! This Republicans and only Republicans.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Stop with the bullshit 'both sides' stuff and point fingers where they belong.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

His second confirmation, yes. That was among party lines. I was talking about the rescinding of the cfpb bill on consumer protection 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

However, it appears in was mistaken. I thought I remembered this one correctly, but this too was a party lines vote and pence broke the tie

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

The word 'freedom' has a very loose meaning in the US. No wonder they call themselves "land of the free" while the rest of us are like 'eh?'

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yeah, my country is dumb as fuck. Most advanced nations are as free if not more free than we are, we're just ignorant as hell.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Aw, that's cute Canada! You say that like we actually care what you think!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 14

You sound like a bit of a twat mate

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Do I 'mate'? Well bob's your uncle, you're all fur coat and no trousers you are! G'day!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Actually you guys are fucking it up for the rest of the western world, which is why we care. Also, *israel. You do care what we think.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So much so, you can't win an election without sucking up to us lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sucking up to you? Who the hell sucks up to Israel to win an election?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

All hail our glorious plutocrats.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Just a little tyranny

8 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

Too bad this is the only thing people seem to see as important to fight that tyranny.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The mega corporations have finally succeeded in buying enough power within our government

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We had a chance to avoid all this, but just enough stupid, selfish, immature people let the wrong person win the last election

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

There was no right person last election. That's the problem.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Captain on point.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just democracy dying.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

It's been doing that far longer than this with the FCC. But no one calls it that when any other rights are threatened, only their right to>

fast internet.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To thunderous applause?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is democracy in effect.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

You mean where this plan has a 98% disapproval rate and 5 people decide the fate of the internet as we know it? Yeah totally democratic.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There's a big difference between democratic republics and a direct democracy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

A democracy where an individual's voice is multiplied by his/her wealth.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Wealth gives people an advantage in literally every system.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It certainly has gotten worse in the states since Citizens United.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Bad case of Republicans.

8 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 9

It might be contagious, other countries beware

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Haven't you heard? Far-Rightitis is already going around in Europe

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You’re a fool if you believe this is a partisan issue or any politician from either side has interest in representing...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 29

Republicans want to tear down NN, democrats want to save it "LULZ BOTH PARTIES SAME I'M SO SMART."

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Republicans don’t party-line sheep vote like Democrats, they have independent reasons that don’t always represent the formal party stance.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You're a fool if you believe this isn't a partisan issue. The Democrats oppose this move and support Net Neutrality. It's all on the Repubs

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

I hate both parties and focus on issues themselves but whatever

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

Republicans don’t party-line sheep vote like Democrats, they have independent reasons that don’t always represent the formal party stance.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

it's not really a matter of belief, it's public record. these are republican appointees.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Republicans don’t party-line sheep vote like Democrats, they have independent reasons that don’t always represent the formal party stance.

their constituents and not pushing their own agendas (for profit).

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

Agree

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

While I don't believe Democrat politicians are inherently better, it's stupid to say they're the same on every issue. This is clearly an

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Issue where the Republicans are 100% of the people pushing to end NN. Thinking otherwise is like saying the parties are the same on

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Is there anything non US residents can do?

8 years ago | Likes 177 Dislikes 3

It would be insane if you could change their political decision, it's not your problem so just get popcorn and enjoy the show

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Instigate americans to riot against the lobby industry in DC?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can leave a complaint on the FCC website actually. Google the site, follow the link, and check the box for international address

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can sign that petition that's also on the front page.

Oh wait, you are from Scotland, sorry brother/sister.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

hunt them down and put a bullet in their heads

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

That's a bit extreme. How about angry bees in the rectum instead?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no, bullets, because tyranny comes in many forms

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wonder if contacting your diplomat or such and having them speak on your countries behalf to the pres will help

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Theres not really anything that US residents can do either. You can call, i did. But its not going to change any corrupt politicians minds.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If you have any of that fancy Celtic magic, now would be a good time to use it.

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

Bye bye Pai

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

There's pretty much nothing US residents can do. We're basically North Korea for the next 3 years.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

Show up in a kilt, beat these guys with some bagpipes, and scream something about them being twats. Wouldn’t help, but I’d feel better.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Scottish power". I can get behind that.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

You can get behind me anytime baby

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not really, but I think you're awesome for wanting to help.

8 years ago | Likes 120 Dislikes 0

As a Canadian, I wonder if US ISPs could charge an extra fee to give out of country ISPs access to US based websites if the Net Neutrality

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

was abolished

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guarantee they would if they think of it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks. That sucks though. Fight on brother/sister

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

So.. They should allow any of us to have fast access to any USA IP, right? In this case we can rebuild your internet, we have the technology

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not about "wanting to help" for many of us. If this law hits the US, the rest of the world will suffer as well.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not really, ISP's can regulate routing tables of their clients. And if they where to try to block international traffic this would promote -

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

non US websites and US costumer base would go down. The worst i can see happening is NON-US countries starting to do the same.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Non the less i hate this, and wish i could help. I thrown some links to USA family i have that where not aware. So i suppose I did a thing.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tell US residents to utilize the power of their voices for good instead of drawing dicks on people.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

we can do both
