Anyone know what that green strap/trehugger is called?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shiey, is that you?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a similar underquilt and it works. Slept in -1C. My buddy had a dow sleeping bag which he placed over both him and the hammock.

that's just where the cat sleeps

What type of Hammock do you have?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And now I got to pee

Rangers A camp

Perfection!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

nice set up

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Makes me have to pee just looking at it.

Not all those who wander are lust

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Big ol bag of meat for the bears.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Social distancing done right.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That a warbonnet?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jealous. Wish I was there

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

One time I did MDMA and slept in a hammock just like this. It was the best sleep I've ever had.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Half the comments: "This would actually collapse and shatter my spine" The other half: "Sleeping in this is like giving your back a blowjob"

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

So death by snu-snu back version.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And the majority , neither.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Bear: Hey look, it’s taco day.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's a good lookin hang, @op. What's your rig? Is that a Warbonnet? I look forward to my next hang, whenever that is.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love hammocks, we have one in the front yard and I use it as much as possible

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ll never go back if I have the choice. You get used to it REAL quick and it’s amazing

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sneeze guard for the bears

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Stupid question, but that tree supports you?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's like 6 inches in diameter

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jesus, yes, trees are really strong! they build, like, houses and shit out of them!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s great ... until you can’t find two trees the right distance apart. Tried it; used it as designed exactly once.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Unless shit is crazy far apart, maybe you didn’t have the best straps, with loop straps it’s hard to not be able to get the correct setup.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me, backpacking in the Sierras, it was an issue of too close/too far or weak trees - never just right - and I had loop straps.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get that. I will usually pack my trekking pole tent also, it’s UL so doesn’t hurt.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep - same here; my rain cover doubled as a trekking pole tent.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Currently for most stuff I am using a 2p xmid tent, also have a nemo dagger, and hammock.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is cool but ouch my back

6 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 4

I thought it might be uncomfortable, but hammock camping turned out to be the best for me.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Come to Yucatán, we can teach you how to properly sleep on a hammock... At the beach... ?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My back is infinitely happier in a hammock compared to on the ground

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Having tried sleeping in a camping hammock, they actually can be surprisingly comfy, as long as you sleep at an angle

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I switched to camping hammock 2 years ago and I'll never go back

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

back is great, but being folded in half like a taco fucks my shoulders something fierce.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You would be amazed at how comfortable Warbonnet hammocks are, they are so well designed! I have back pain usually, but not in camp hammocks

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Haven't tried sleeping overnight in hammock during camping but I always hear my friends complaining they get cramps when they do it

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would imagine you would get cold with no bottom layer under you

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I rock a quilt.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not really. I did this for an entire summer, got down to 5 degrees or so and it was fine.. bloodsuckers were annoying tho.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the blue puffy thing is an insulated layer

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Does it work? I tried to sleep on a second sleeping bag and froze all night

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

trick is to suspend it just below your weight/below the hammock so the outer layer cannot compress

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's called an underquilt and it works very well.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a stomach sleeper I don't know how people can sleep in something like this. Cool looking shelter though.

6 years ago | Likes 200 Dislikes 3

I slept so well I was snoring so loud someone came to check on me. It was like sleep evolved. Must try it if you can

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I cant do stomach sleeping. Everytime I do. My pillow is soaked in drool.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As someone who is a stomach sleeper at home, I love sleeping in a hammock

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I too am a stomach sleeper and my hammock has been infinitely better than any sleeping bag/pad combo for me.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

As a back sleeper I just kinda lie down

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I got a setup like this a while back because it's lighter and packs smaller than a tent, but had to stop because I couldn't sleep at all

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The diagonal lay is key, and there are also bridge hammocks that are great for stomach sleeping.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

You can rock sleeping pads also.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Surprisingly comfortable if you lay in it right. Super warm too with underquilt and insulated pad. Heavy though.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am also a stomach sleeper. I tried camping hammock last summer. Best sleep I've ever had camping. And it was even 99 degrees out

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Wow, you slept out in almost water boiling temperature and didn't die? That hammock must've been amazing.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 17

Tbh it’s amazing for about an hour then it becomes a dark miserable cocooned nightmare where every movement risks unceremoniously capsizing.

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 6

And here is the truth I was looking for

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's actually quite difficult to flip this type of hammock. The yard hammocks with a spreader bar at either end are a different story tho…

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Never had an issue, backpack with one. I bounce between it and a trekking pole tent.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Once you nap in a diagonal-lay 11 foot hammock, you'll know...from a back-pain person, this has been an amazing discovery.

6 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 0

Or 11' with an asym cut

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I found living and sleeping in the back of my car for a few months on-top of blankets and plywood did wonders for my back

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Not sure if sarcastic or truthful...

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No 100% truthful. Did a trip from Alberta to PEI with my best friend

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Still not sure ?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's like those dog dishes where the bears don't have to bend over to eat.

6 years ago | Likes 798 Dislikes 4

BEAR BURRITO

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Im glad i live somewhere i dont have to worry about bears when camping.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TIL: Tents are bear proof while this setup is not.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Got a good "lol" out of this comment. +1

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sneezeguard at the bear buffet

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

And today, you win the internet.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Are you dumb? It's like a tent but with no door, so the bears have nothing to knock on to ask to be let in. Fucking idiot.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 3

So now I also have to worry about vampire bears when I go camping?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My dad calls it a bear taco.

6 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 1

Bearitto

6 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

There it is.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You stay high and dry in those things but if you like your spine you'll steer clear.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Never had an issue, but I also never knew I was using it incorrectly. How it is setup and how you lay in it is a huge difference.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Can you explain?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When you lay in a hammock, you should be diagonal almost. Kick your feet at like 3 o’clock position. Also the hang should be as low .

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

*Shouldn’t be as low. You can look up proper way to hang.
