So, it's going to be permanently covered for the next 3 1/2 years?

Can we like remove it for safe keeping? Because I'm sure it'll have sudden unnecessary changes made to it or it'll just disappear "accidentally".

Dolores turns the picture of the minster around before torture.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah keeping a hostage right in the room.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Per Putin's request

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just hope it's got ketchup proof glass over it. Hell not like he even understands what it says

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait I was in DC 10years ago, wasn't that on display for public viewing

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He can’t read anyway so no real difference

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It's not supposed to be in the Oval Office though

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, it's the CONSTITUTION he's ignoring.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The curtains are for when Nicholas Cage visits.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Isn't he a draft dodger?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doubt if he'll ever give it back.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The curtains are for, when he’s slapping his little hands on the bottle ketchup!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The archives asked that curtains be setup so it can be shielded when not being viewed.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can someone give context here? He didn't order curtains installed so he could ignore it. There are so many other options here. Like even for Trump that doesn't make sense. (Even if it makes for a good caption)

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

The curtains are to protect it from light (sun, uv) damage. But the joke is still sound.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Aren't the curtains to protect it from the light, since it's a valuable document that can be damaged by light?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How is no one else is concerned that this thing isn't going to just disappear or be replaced by? We found a newly uncovered portion of the declaration on the back where I signed it and now I'm king or something blatantly false and stupid?!?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The declaration isn't law.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really, really, REALLY hope they gave that fucking idiot a fake.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

There's like 2 dozen original copies, it's one of them.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which is every day.

1 year ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 3

I had a nightmare where the pres was a russian agent, idiot, and a habitual traitor-felon.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The good news is that that is just a copy. Not the actual thing.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There's not just ONE copy of the Declaration. There's like 2 dozen copies. It's one of those original ones made.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I think there are about 25 surviving copies of the Declaration. It looks like it's in a temp/humidity controlled sealed display and the curtains are probably to keep sunlight from fading it.

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Correct. People think there's only one copy. Fact is Nicholas Cage had a couple dozen to choose from to steal.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Ackchyually... It would have always been the original in the national archives. Why would the secret be duplicated onto all of them. It's not like its a xerox copy...

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Honestly it is probably so he can claim he has the original and that it did not talk about any of the stuff that applies to him. Substitute “king” for trump and the accusations match closer than he likes.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Relax. It was written by DEI's - immigrants from England, who started a bigly war that our President of Peace, Donald Trump had to stop at a tea party. Read your histerie!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much of the DOI would you need to change to make it refer to trump?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1 year ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Man, Joe Biden really did some damage to him, he just can't let him go

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There’s the post I was looking for. Haha

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m no archivist but doesn’t something like that have to be in a temperature, light, humidity controlled environment, and displayed flat? He’s got it on the wall like a Baywatch poster.

1 year ago | Likes 136 Dislikes 6

You honestly think they put the real thing in there? It's a copy. Nobody would risk the real one being in there

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You mean like nobody thought someone would close the Dept. of Education......that way, right?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Trump has what people call magical thinking that somehow his office just abuse him with these magical powers and it doesn't

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

They got drapes!

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There were 26 made originally. 13 survive. This one is in a glass case, so a controlled environment and the curtains protect it from light when not being viewed. Plus, modern LED lighting doesn't put any UV light.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That's not the original, but as others said he tried to get them to move it there. This, I imagine, is his shitty 'businessman' brain adding the curtains so dumb people are more likely to *think* it's the real one and be impressed. Like everything he does, it's about creating a facade, nothing genuine ever

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's not the original. That's in the National Archives.

1 year ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 3

*was. I have it on good authority that it was stolen awhile back by some random relative of Francis Ford Coppola

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

He tried to get the original move to the White House, but as you mentioned, it would cost millions to do it properly, so they convinced him to settle for a copy instead.

At least he can take his sharpie to this one without doing damage to the original.

1 year ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

Should have just told him it was real. He'd never know.for that matter, let's just start faking complying with all his stupid insane ideas. He's not smart enough to tell no matter how badly you do it. You could print out the text of the declaration of independence on printer paper and soak it in tea and he would believe you

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Honestly, the way he was talking about it, they might just have done that anyway. Or more likely, he's just pretending it's the real one for the reporter because he is a pathological liar. /gallery/did-you-even-say-thank-you-WwFfHJt

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Most likely a replica.

1 year ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 2

IIRC it's an early-1800s copy

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

God, I hope so.

1 year ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure the real one has stains from people touching it so much over the centuries. Especially on the bottom. This one is clean.

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It's like when you turn over your family photo on the shelf before you have a wank.

1 year ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

Coward.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So it faces you? or it faces away from you? Asking for Trump

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Ivanka? Toward. The rest of the family? Away.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or reveal it for the same reason, like Trump would.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That requires shame. This asshole has none of that.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There is a chance Trump takes his sharpie and just changes the Declaration of Independence.

1 year ago | Likes 442 Dislikes 4

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good news, he'll probably just write on the glass.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly like that one pig did in Animal Farm

(I don't know the name, we read it ~30 years ago... wow that's been forever, lol)

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bullshit

He would be using a crayon

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Clearly, the founding fathers drew in Sharpie on it, just like someone else did that map. You wouldn't get it though, he's got access to the original copy with Sharpie stains! He totally wouldn't do it himself, no siree. /s

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah, he would have sold it to putin

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

He probably sold the original and thats a copy hanging in the office.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

", but some animals are more equal than others."

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*shudder* but yeah thats where this is going.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

thankfully the one in WH is just a copy.
The original is kept in the National Archives Building.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Are we sure anymore

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Better check the back for a map.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

'made in china'..... Whew !!!

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking thought this before scrolling to comments. Beat me

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

GMTA

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You think he is gonna add his signature?

1 year ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 0

Give it the ol' Herbie Hancock?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And then claim he wrote the whole thing? Yes.

1 year ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Jesus, he would sharpie over it to sign it. Then he would take to Mara lago

1 year ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

With the 250th anniversary coming up? Absolutely

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I bet he can’t even read it. Particularly because of the old style cursive. But also that his reading comprehension is very poor.

1 year ago | Likes 277 Dislikes 4

No pictures; effectively Greek

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are rumors he is functionally illiterate.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The trick is to remember that the "S"s look like "F"s but the "F"s also look like "F"s

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Fafcinating info, Ftranger. Thankf!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shit, someone could read it to him and he still wouldn't get any of it.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure he can't really read anything.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He is the best at reading. He knows so many words. Many people are saying this, not him, but many people. They are saying he knows the best words. Person, woman, man, camera, tv. Lots of words. Big words

1 year ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 2

He’s done some of the best reading, in fact no one is better at reading and he’s got some very smart friends who also think he’s the best reader they’ve seen.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Everything computer

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Look up the video of King Charles letter being read by dumpy.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m not sure he was able to read it. Looked like he just talked about obviously characteristics of a letter, like the signature, and looked at how many pages there were.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good enough to read “Person, woman, man, camera, TV,”. 😜

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Don't forget covfefe
