Those 4 lucky ones off to the left, they are going to....never mind

If I could make my AI pathfinding this good, I'd be unstoppable.

It’s like... putting toothpaste back in the tube

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this being filmed by the ISS.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why are they forcing them into such a small area? That’s terrible and makes the dogs job much harder. ?

When he gets the strays at the end

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We have a sheltie and he just loves to HERD ALL THE THINGS. Kids, other dogs, leaves. He's never seen a sheep in his life.

That's flocking awesome.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Flocks have three rules. 1. go to the center 2. don't hit each other. 3 go the same speed.

I love that the dog loses a few sheep off to the left, but waits until the very end to just straight chase them directly in.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please peel your sheep.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like me trying to blow leaves into a pile

Helicopter pilots call sheep “meadow maggots”

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is true??

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ok, I was taking video from a helicopter (construction project.) Flying over fields of sheep the pilot says, “We call them meadow maggots!”

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm too lazy to google if this is true, so take your upvote! lol

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bet that doggie makes sheep herding a breeze!

I know nothing about this, but that seems like a small pen. Is that normal? And if so, is it good?

5 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

I hope it’s not. That is terrible in my opinion. Awful.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 20

It’s really not. They need to be sheered but you have to contain them temporarily to do it before they can return to the field

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It is a small pen, but I'd assume they're coming in for something special. Maybe shearing, or spraying or a health inspection or something.

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

This is specifically for shearing the sheep. Which is good for them and us. Once this is done they are let out into field/fenced.

5 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

Oooooh, makes sense. Cool.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Sheep travel in herds I recon they feel pretty safe standing like that.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How the fuck fo you teach a dog to do that

5 years ago | Likes 424 Dislikes 1

We had a blue heeler when my kids were little. She would literally herd my kids and nip at their heels to get them to go where she wanted.

You hook a console cable up to their ear and access the command line

Tens of thousands of years of selective breeding and evolution my friend.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

They do what we ask. They're our best friend.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We used to have corgis & when they play you can't chase them because they insist on chasing YOU, it's adorable. They'd herd soccerballs too.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It’s all fun and games until they start biting your ankles. Gotta put a stop to that real quick

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Back in olden times when we used to go to the dog park, there was this Aus Shepherd that would herd the humans to the center of the park.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't really, just plain instinct. Pretty crazy

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's mostly building on their natural urge to keep their pack together.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

parents in law have collies - when we take them for a walk and someone falls back a bit, they usually try to herd us back together

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We've got a dog that's part cattle dog and she herds our single horse every time she goes outside. Definitely not something she was taught.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Very politely

I was at a friend's house party who owns a border collie. This dog is living in city, not trained to herd. He herded all of us into (1

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Livingroom before we knew it. I didn't realize til my friend (who's the owner) told me about it. I was like o shit u right.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funnily enough it comes naturally to the breed. Although not every collie takes to it.

5 years ago | Likes 257 Dislikes 0

Household collies will frequently display herding with other pets, children, or random animals. They can't help it.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My collie used to bite at the heels of our car (aka the tires)

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kind of like how not being able to breathe right comes to pugs?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My collie is always herding us on walks

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I can’t imagine how our ancestors did it, but 4 the dogs it’s instinct now. They’ve been bredYou can buyacollie andthey’ll herd w/o training

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Herding dogs are different than family dogs. They have incredible energy and work ethic. They *need* a job, or they go nuts with boredom.

5 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 0

Training them is just a matter of redirecting that energy and drive into a job, and it helps that herding usually comes naturally to them.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

And if you try to use herding dogs as family dogs, they are very high maintenance as that energy will be devoted to less ideal tasks

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Exactly. They’re the breeds that will eat your wall out of boredom.
