Why does mine take up to a month yo do something simpler? Lazy basterd.

Still a better wheel alignment than my local garage can do.

We’ve been trying to get a hold of you about your car warranty.

I wish the WRC Youtube channel wasnt such a joke. Their highlights videos are around 3 minutes and blast awful music over the sounds of the cars.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Are you sure it needs a wheel alignment?" I think this guy's trying to rip me off.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Impressive!

"Fuck this piece of metal in particular."

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No way that thing didn’t still wobble like crazy after that… but I guess they’re used to that

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is not the repair shop, this is the Citroën factory, this is just how they make them.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who was driving that car? Samir?

6 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That guy under the car while the other guy smacks it with a sledge has a LOT of faith in those chintzy-looking jackstands.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How????

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

LOTS of training and experience. These guys aren't just any mechanics. They know the car inside out and can assemble it manually - including welding.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Here's full thing at 16X speed. 32 minutes real time:

Ah yes, the Trabant method https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mIAYxWCXF8A

That did indeed buff right out

I only understood 'something... something... oil leaking... something... FLOUR' and I think that's enough for me to know what's up

Flour power

So I'm assuming this little rally car is FWD, so yeah I can see just hammering the back strut "mostly" back into place. Even coming in dead last is better than not finishing.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It probably is now... but when it started the race, it definitely was 4WD. But getting it back on the road was certainly more important than getting the 4WD system back together.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good point

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If this is a race car - and bear with me because I'm not too bright - why would it have a heavy spare tire in the back?

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They need to make it to the end to get to the pit... The driver is allowed to change the wheel if needed to accomplish that

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thanks.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rally Car. each stage can be 20-30 miles long, meaning they can be up to 15 miles from a pit.

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thanks.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

meanwhile my car has been in the shop for 4 months.........

6 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Supply chain issues. Also, you now owe $1,500 in Tariffs for the oil filter

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the chop shop maybe....😄

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It takes longer if the fix is supposed to last more than just til the end of the event

If it wasn't in the car manufacturers colours, it might be the reason for the delay.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ford right?

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn impressive work! Wonder what the actual elapsed time was for this fox?

6 months ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 0

I read years ago that the Wood brothers (NASCAR pit crew) could do an entire engine swap and have the car back out on the track in 30 minutes.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Under 30 minutes and this is by no means the worst a rally car has pulled into the pits only to make the next stage

6 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

30 mins IIRC. Found the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKBnPnYh8iw

6 months ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 0

I was going to estimate 15 to 20 based on what we saw, and figured there was probably another 10 or so that we weren't down. Pretty close!

Considering that thing would've been deemed totaled by any insurance company, that's fkn nuts

6 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

20 minutes to do the job and 10 minute strike for better pay, these are French after all.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From what I understand is that if they can't fix the car, the whole event would be over for them. And if there is damage to the safety equipment (like rollcage), they can also be forced to retire.

6 months ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

Take it out back and shoot it.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m not familiar with the sport, how is a 30m delay not detriment enough to effectively be out of it? That would be a gargantuan spread for finish times for them to still be in the race.

6 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Stage racing against the clock. It'd be way too dangerous to have multiple cars on track on a rally stage. The only place i know of where that happens is Rallycross which is raced in tracks inside of stadiums.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Rally races usually have large gaps between cars. Hence why folks let their guard down on the sides of the tracks (i'm sure you've seen some of the near-miss tomfoolery). Lots of ways to goof up. Sometimes going off course will cost you minutes, not seconds.

6 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I think this is the service park which is open maintenance after each stage and is not timed(I think), like the guy who drives it in is not even wearing any racing gear.

I also think the first 10 who finish a stage gets points, so just finishing can still be worth it. And if you've ever watched rallies they're freaking insane, it's kinda surprising that most make it at all...or stay alive for that matter.

But I'm not completely familiar with it either.

6 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Rally is against the clock, not the other drivers directly. They run in stages where each driver goes through the course, then is allowed to go back to their garage stall to do simple fixes on the car. As long as they make it to the starting line of the next stage before they're scheduled to run, they can take "as much" time as they want.

There's a reason that their 10 lb sledge was painted in Citroen colors, because every single team has one and uses it like this. The name of the game is speed, and when you're trying to repair fast there's frequently no better solution than to just beat something into place

6 months ago | Likes 213 Dislikes 1

Omg not children

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I sort of miss the days of percussive maintenance on my TV.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

beat to fit, paint to match

6 months ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Genuinely working in a body shop this is very true. Obviously we don’t value speed like they do, but there have been plenty of times I’ve beat something into place.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They don't even bother beyond the most basic alignment requirements. Let the driver adapt.

6 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But how does that relate to Citroën then? Btw, in Dutch Citroën (with an umlaut) is spelled the same as citroen (without), which is a lemon, so as a kid I always wondered why it was called after a fruit

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's because the brand was founded by a Dutch guy named Citroen, but the French couldn't pronounce that, so they added an umlaut.

6 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Prolly cuz that makes it standard kit and thus reasonably purchased with some degree of theming to match the team cuz marketting is wild and extends fucking everywhere.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's because finding the umlaut key on an American Windows keyboard is a pain in the butt.

6 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Of note, in the US a 'lemon' is a term for something that was broken from the get and will never be fully operational. We actually have some laws protecting consumers from lemon products like faulty cars and whatnot.

6 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah I know, there’s a wonderful interlinguistic coincidence here, not that all Citroens are lemons, but still 😀
