I have NEVER seen an 'aid' for learning this language that was at all helpful. It's always - at best - useless. At worst, MORE confusing.

If you think you can learn Morse with this, you're gonna have a bad time.
Beelsebooob
+1 for showing a good way of learning it, rather than the bullshit that is the dots and dashes fitted to the shape of letters.
cousteau
This is almost as bullshit as that though

Whoaaa, it's like a binary search tree.
In fact, this is a rather shitty way to learn Morse code.

Well, Morse code is pretty much a Huffman code

As a CS major I remember programming a Morse code binary tree. Basically going left (dots) are 0 and going right (dashes) are 1.
How did you deal with length?
tofudisan
I hear length isn't as bad to deal with as girth.
buttonguy3
But how many dots or dashes for each letter?
squirrelrubbinghisnips
E=. I=.. S=...
ubernrd
The lines connecting each node are dots or dashes. U = ..-
HadMeSomeChickens
Each level is a dot or dash. left = . right = -
I think the "level" on the tree? So E=1, A=2?
HalfBurnedTaco
Oudated? I'm currently trying to learn this with my bf so we can communicate by holding hands. I swear it will be great
plopardo
Would you guys consider adoption of a 30+ unemployed male in your household ? I go to the potty and would love learning Morse with u.
drimago
You both work for a paper company?
Rumpelstiltskinner
Super cute.
Haha thanks
That's hella cute, GOOD LUCK :)

Man I cannot for the life of me decipher this. And I know some morse code.

Pay attention to the lines, they are either dots or dashes. So find the chara you want, let's say "J", then follow the lines from start to J
Start->E->A->W->J is the path, so looking at the connecting lines for that path, they go: .--- and sure enough, "J" is di-dah-dah-dah
Yeah, Im an idiot. I was reading it as each dot....Im dumb.
No problem. It took me like 5 minutes of staring to not do the same thing, first I saw thew chart. Helps that this is stolen from a boy...

Were too bright; he was signalling "TORTURE" in Morse Code to confirm to Naval Intelligence that POWs actually were getting tortured. 2/2

That's actually incredible, it's the kind of stuff you see as plotlines in movies.
Service members, especially ones going into hot zones, are briefed on subverting propaganda. See also:
Paul Galanti was forced by Charlie to pose for some photos showing that they actually had good living conditions, such as having a bench 1/n
Family - and a good chunk of the country - to think his middle fingers had been cut off just above the hand, completely negating 4/n
The picture's propaganda value and making Charlie look even worse. 5/5
That he wasn't doing it voluntarily. In an interesting twist, Life magazine mostly shopped out the hand gestures he made, causing his 3/n
In their cells to sit on. He couldn't stop them from making him sit there or photograph him, so instead he made it clear 2/n
